Best place I've ever eaten barbecue at. Brilliant staff and awesome food. I 10/10 recommend this place to anyone new in the Westallis area. You'll meet some amazing people in a down to earth and warming atmosphere. I have had every single item on the menu and I can freely say that none of it is cause for red flags. The bacon balls are my least favorite and just a slight bit greasy. My personal favorite has always and will always be the pulled chicken sandwich with cheddar cheese and pickles. First off, I want to thank Steven for the great service he gave during our visit. Shout out to him! My fiancé and 2 little ones got here around 5 in the evening on a Saturday. The place was almost full with a few empty tables. We got here just in time because after we sat down people started to wait to be seated. I got the double b burger and it was soooo delicious. The pulled pork was definitely the topping on the cake. The patty was juicy, I like my burgers medium well. I had a side of mac and cheese but had trouble eating it because the cheese was so thick. I'm not a fan of thick cheese so the mac and cheese was ok, I've had better. But overall great atmosphere, people, service, and food. Small place - limited seating - great service. 1 star lost due to Cole Slaw - it was not good, why bother for a small little cup on the plate? We had the Ribs, Brisket, and Wings. Ribs were ok, dry rub, not smothered in sauce. Very tasty. A little tough, but good. The wings were also smoked and no need for sauce (although available if desired). The Brisket was the best. We were excited to try out a new place, close to our new home. Yelp reviews provided a positive outlook so we ventured out two evenings ago. I had the pulled pork platter and he went with the brisket. Wings came before the meal with four sauces to try. Those were good and hot. Food was alright, flavorful but not sure if this will be a returning establishment for us. For a few factors. We came around 7:30, well after their rush. The bartender needed to yell over at their hostess who was not acknowledging anyone due to the fact he was leaned over a railing on his phone. He looked very inconvenienced by having to seat a table of two. I some what kept tabs on him throughout the evening, hard not to when you look so pissed off to be at work. Maybe it was an off night for him, either way leave that at the door before coming in. Our waiter Stephen was friendly, although we saw him only once after the food came, when we were already done and waiting for the bill. I had wanted to try a piece of the pecan pie but was never asked about a possible dessert order. Besides the attitude from the hostess the only other complaint that would not have us returning is how extremely close you are to the next table. I understand the need to pack patrons in, but when I have to be forced to listen to the ENTIRE conversation, including sighs from the husband and wife next to me... that is a complete turn off. We literally could have all held hands and prayed when our damn meals came. Should have gotten their number, I wonder if their next day plans of getting their camper went well. read more

We went to Double B's for my birthday in early April and it was a great first time experience at this restaurant. At first it was a little nerve-wracking because we did not have a reservation and showed up early on a Saturday evening. The place was pretty packed, but there was room on the outdoor patio in the back. Although it was chilly, the patio has a large heater and we survived. Plus, we were dining with our teen and tweens and crabby kids seem to do better (and be a little less annoying to others) in a casual patio. We had a bonus view of the smokers and one of the workers even invited us to go take a closer look if we wanted to. My 10-year-old was the crabbiest. He was unexcited about going out to dinner, even for mom's birthday. But the highlight of the evening was that all our kids enjoyed the food a lot! The 10-year-old said, "I totally regret it" (meaning his sour disposition that he had on arrival). When my kids eat well, I'm very happy. I had the burnt ends, which is something I have only heard of on Food TV shows, and they were fantastic. We loved the meal and I would love to go back to Double B's again. It is a pleasure to go to a successful local restaurant and I've even thought about getting their catering -- yum. Anyone thinking of this restaurant -- go! Go enjoy! For some reason, when our family goes on road trips, I end up looking at BBQ restaurants, and we have been to a few that are out of town. Awesome taste, portions, and value. We live in Chicago and our ribs experience has been Carson's Ribs. My parents love them, we love them, etc. We visited Milwaukee a few weekends ago and searched for best ribs place on Yelp. Double B's popped up, and it did not disappoint. We ordered 1 full rack of ribs, the bacon ball appetizers, and the fries. The ribs came out and we were...flabbergasted. There was so much! In fact, twice as much as we get at Carson's when we order a full rack of ribs. We were afraid we had ordered two by accident. We checked with the waitress, she smiled and said "nope that is one full rack of ribs". And it was all for $22 or so. We were in heaven with the value. Then once we bit in, we sent further into the stratosphere of our angelic journey - so juicy, tender, and flavorful. I actually decided to order another full rack to go, to munch on when we were back in Chicago. Impulsive, crazy, and so worth it even a week later. The bacon balls and fries were also good, well worth a try. The mac and cheese, however, left something to be desired, tastes "boxed". The location is a bit away from downtown but well worth the trip - let me know when Double B's opens a Chicago location! read more

This place was great! We first arrived an hour before our reservation and they had no problem making room for us. We got a cozy table by the window with a view of the street which I loved. My husband and I both got the baby back ribs and they were great! The meat was tender, once you worked your way to the end it was more fat than meat but the ribs we very filling! I got the half slab and could barley finish, the dry rub was excellent and their homemade sauces were to die for! The corn muffin could of been warmer but it was moist and crumbled in my mouth. They are definitely home made with love. The sweet tea was brewed fresh and the service was excellent! The girl explained each flavor of sauce and what region of the US it was inspired by! We ordered the Ribs they were good but I like the fall off the bones ribs and these were not. But had a nice flavor they needed no sauce. They service was very friendly. We are crazy about this place!! I always get the pulled chicken platter which is a huge portion with smokehouse beans and coleslaw. The appetizer, bacon balls, is super yummy, as well as, the wings! What can I say? FANTASTIC. I had Double B's cater my baby shower event and everything was smooth sailing from ordering to delivery and setup! Everyone loved everything. I got the pulled pork and chicken, mashed potatoes, Mac n cheese (delish!) with coleslaw and corn bread and regular bread. Absolutely phenomenal and everyone kept raving about the food. They even provided mild and bold bbq sauce with paper plates, forks and wet wipes. I'm very impressed how organized and well prepared everything was. We actually first had Double B's BBQ at a wedding. They had a few food trucks at the reception and Double B's was one of them. My wife and I figured we'd give them a shot after learning they also had a restaurant. We went on a Saturday night around 6:30 pm. There probably is plenty of parking normally, but since the State Fair was going on, it took awhile to actually get to the restaurant and to find parking. Once we arrived however, we were seated immediately. The place is relatively small, probably about 10-12 tables total. Service was good overall. The real star of course was the food. We split a burnt ends appetizer. That was a great way to start. The burnt ends melted in your mouth and the BBQ sauce was amazing. From there I had the brisket platter and my wife had the turkey platter (Special). Both were absolutely amazing. The meat was tender and juicy, the sauces were all different but all delicious, and the corn bread was one of the best I've had. I just wish it was a larger piece of corn bread. Yeah, I've been back to this place a couple of times now. Being an amateur smoker myself, I can truly appreciate the taste on effort put into smoking their meats. I tried the "burnt ends" special on my last visit, and it did not disappoint. My suggestion for your first visit to the place, is to get a small group together, and each order something different, and get a small taste of everything - family style. I would also recommend the smoked meatballs and smoked wings. I might dare say, this might be the best "smoked" wing in the Milwaukee. Fun restaurant and bar in Stallis. It is near the corner of 74th and Greenfield; there is plentiful street parking and an adjacent lot. The interior consists of a small dining area, seating around the bar, and a couple tables at the front window. It is a cozy place - the bar is surrounded by wood work which contributes to the cozy feel. It is overall a very clean and tidy establishment (which I always appreciate!). I was here for an event and had the opportunity to try many items on the menu. The beef brisket was fantastic and they offer 4 different sauces for the meat. The mac 'n cheese was dang good - it was super cheesy and delicious. The corn bread muffins were another of my favorite items along with the chicken wings. I opted for plain wings with a touch of blue cheese. The wings were meaty and flavorful. There is a variety of wing flavors ranging from mild to super spicy. The bacon wrapped meatballs were a HUGE hit - we couldn't get enough of them. If you are looking for something unique and very "Wisconsiny" to try, I highly recommend these scrumptious morsels. Double B's also has a full bar, with a good selection of beers and unique drinks. The bourbon lemonade is fantastic - it is refreshing and amazing.... good for any season but I can see myself enjoying this cocktail to the max in the summer sunshine. I came home and raved about the food to my fiancee, who is eager to dine at Double B's. The owners were super friendly and shout out to the cooks and bartenders for making amazing food and drinks! West Allis has a real gem in Double B's. Slow smoked meat and homemade sauce = deliciousness in a cozy place! The menu beckoned from the street where the featured app - bacon balls - was front and center. They were so good it was easy to imagine that's where the name came from. Picture fully-cooked meatballs, dipped in deep-fried beer batter, wrapped with crunchy bacon. Pure meat satisfaction. They come served with sides of spicy sauce and blue cheese sauce for dipping. My friend got a bacon cheeseburger and fries. She said the meat was perfectly prepared and was good. I had the pulled chicken and sweet potato fries. I chose the mild, slightly sweet sauce for my meat and liked it. The chicken was tender and chunky and perfect to enjoy. The sweet potato fries were waffle-style, thin, crisp and slightly sweet. Perfect to dunk in more barbecue sauce. I will go back to Double B's. That was some seriously good cue! read more

Double B's is an absolute gem. From the food to the environment to the staff, Double B's did not disappoint in any area. (Protip: They have an amazing deal of free wings on Wednesdays) I got the Brisket, which came with a side of coleslaw, cornbread, and french fries (I'm boring, I know). Everything was delicious, especially the cornbread. Sweet, fluffy, buttery heaven. This is the king of all cornbread. The Brisket was tender and went great with the 4 sauces that they offer. My mother got the Ribs and my father got their Wednesday special pulled meat sandwich, and both were just as amazing as my entree. It seemed that we finally found our meat paradise. The baked beans were also the best my father ever had. A special shout out goes to our server, Corinne, whose friendliness stood out to all of us during our meal. She was wonderfully helpful explaining the sauces and food options, and she really looked after us during our dinner. Double B's reminded me of going out for dinner up north but with the food of down south. Nothing trendy and fancy, just good food, good company, and a full bar to round out the week with. We lucked out on a Friday night and got seated right away for two (the place isn't very big though, so I think we just got lucky). We both got BBQ meals: a Kielbasa plate with buttered beats on the side (veggie of the day) and a Pulled Pork plate with mac on the side. The main meats were plentiful and perfectly cooked. The mac and cheese side threw me off a bit because it was a very sharp cheddar and not as creamy as expected, but was still good. Both came with cole slaw, which was SPOT ON (and trust me, I'm a harsh judge of the slaw - Double B's does it right!). Each meal also came with a corn bread muffin with a cute little butter puff - the cornbread was perfect, but sadly not served warmed (so my butter puff just sat, unmelty). Overall delicious, despite my little tiffs listed above. Our waitress was a real gem and was great about explaining the different sauces and things. I did ask for a water that I never got, but was too distracted by the awesome food and my cocktail to pay much mind. Was a bit distracted from the food though by the tiny sidebar arguments that the staff seemed to be having throughout the evening. Not sure what was going on, and it didn't disrupt our service at all, but was a little strange to see it happening out in the open. On a whole: can't wait to go back again. I had been meaning to go here for some time now. When you arrive ( if there is no line), you are seated in a very small dining area adjacent to the full bar. Before you even enter this place, you are greeted by that amazing smoked meat smell- it will make you smile! Our server was top notch! There wasn't a Moment that we had empty beverages, and she took the time to explain all the awesome sauces they have (my favorite is the "XXX). The ribs were a standout in flavor although I thought they could be a bit more tender. The bacon balls made your eyes roll into the back of your head- so good! You sit under a pergola that's covered by some plastic so the lighting still comes through. There are plants and a waterfall. It's a nice area. I ordered the pulled pork platter with beans and the wife had pulled chicken with beans. They have a few sauces to add to your meal. There's a mild, Texas bold, XXX, and Carolina style sauce. I tried all except for the mild. The XXX is not that hot. More of a medium if you ask me. I'm not sure if they leave their pork in water to keep it from drying out, but my pork was soggy. The beans had a nice smoky flavor and the coleslaw was decent. The corn bread was too sweet. Tasted more like a stale Twinkie. Wife liked her chicken but overall I was disappointed in the pork. The sides and sauces were good. Cornbread was bad. Probably won't come back, unfortunately, but Ive had worse. read more

I visited this location on a trip to Milwaukee from Oklahoma. I truly enjoyed the vibe I received from the staff, especially Wendy at the bar. I ordered 1/2 slab of spare ribs, coleslaw, mashed potatoes & cornbread, which was DELICIOUS Since I ordered an entree, I received 3 free wings (Wednesday Special). The BBQ was good, not as good as back home but it was still worth it. I noticed there was not very many people coming in making the atmosphere a bit boring. I would suggest they do more & better specials during the week, maybe even punch cards to get a free appetizer/entree to bring more people in. This location is fairly new & hope they stay around. This is very good barbecue located in West Allis, a working class neighborhood trying to right itself after hard times. The restaurant itself is Wisconsin fine, with a dark wood decor, large bar, and that unmistakable smokey aroma. Both the brisket and ribs were good, with a choice of sauces and sides. Portions were large and everything was home made and tasted good. Yet, I cannot rave. I have tasted better barbecue, here in Milwaukee and especially Kansas City. Nothing beats the Jackson Grill's ribs in Milwaukee if Jimmy is cooking. Kansas City may have the best barbecue in the world. Double B's is good and the atmosphere is fun. I probably will return when I'm back in Brew Town. read more
