So I was driving on a pretty busy road and I heard a loud pop from outside my car, then a few seconds later my tire sensor went off. I pulled over and one of the tires was completely flat. I called AAA and a Double N tow truck came very quickly. The driver (Ish) was extremely helpful. He figured out that the problem was likely a nail in the tire that had come out while I was driving. Even though it was nearly 7 PM, he said there would be someone at the shop that could fix it. He took me to the shop and the tire was plugged in about 10 minutes for a very reasonable price (I didn't get the name of the guy who fixed it, but he was very helpful too). Cody was my saving grace today. I have been having a spectacularly bad year, and when my car wouldn't start when I was trying to buy some ramen I finally broke. I cried for an hour in the parking lot while waiting for AAA to respond. They sent Cody from Doubt N Automotive, and not only was he quick, efficient, and professional, he engaged in conversation with me that cheered me up. He explained everything that he was doing and showed me the results of his diagnostics. He had a replacement battery on hand and put it in right then and there. I am so grateful! Rude, shady, lazy and crooked. A TOW-TRUCK came from this "business" after we called AAA, thinking our battery was dead. The driver hooked our car up to a jump-box and the car started. I said "So, we're good?" He said "Your alternator is bad; the batter won't hold a charge." 10 seconds later he was gone like the wind and my car died. They were dispatched today by AAA to tow me back to Nassau County from Coram. I waited almost two hours for someone to show up, which is understandable. Instead of sending a tow truck, they sent a driver in a pickup truck to try to rig up my car and when they couldn't get it started either, they said they needed more time to get a truck. When I called AAA back, they said Double N charged for a tow call (even though they didn't tow me anywhere or fix anything) and they would send a truck as soon as they could. After not coming back, they apparently charged for a second tow and when they were told they had to come back and perform an actual tow, they outright refused. A tow company that refuses to tow but still bills AAA for the tow. That's quite a scam. Says pretty much everything you need to know about this business. read more

These people are crooks!! They take advantage of females and try to charge the highest amount of money for the smallest service unless your "HUSBAND" calls and confronts them! Then they "will put the cheaper parts on" to make it less money!! They also forget to put all my pieces back into my car including the engine cover. When I got it back something different broke that they had to move to fix my original problem! If my inspection was up, any other automotive shop would have told me but they didn't! If I could give zero I would. Never in my life have I had such awful service!!! When I called I was told $200-$400 then once they have it, it went up to $1500. Then I was told they can bring it down a little by using a "cheaper" part. Paid for them to tow it back to my house and once it's dropped I'm told it's going to be $200 more for parts I wasn't told about and that weren't on my invoice. It took 4 calls just to find out what the "pieces" were. Then I get it back with a part visibly missing and my ac not working which surprise they knew nothing about. Do not trust these people. Neil the owner is a con artist. My 75-year-old father with Parkinson's disease went to him to have his BMW fixed. Neil offered to fix the car then sell it for him and would give him the money that he sold it for minus the fee to fix it. Neil got a salvage title fixed the car then sold it behind my father's back and never told him about it. This guy is a liar he's sneaky and will con you. We are pressing charges for grand theft auto and suing him for the cost of the car now. read more

But the guy still showed up hours earlier than I was scheduled, and despite working on a Sunday when a lot of other folks are home, he was very courteous. They always come get my car when I'm stuck always fix it promptly and are always professional. The owner Neil is such an experienced and smart master mechanic he always finds my problem even when it's something minor. I have been to other places that try and up sale me or tell me I need a transmission when it's not that at all. Melissa is the sweetest caring business owner anywhere always smiling and happy to hear from me and always there to help with any questions. The guys here are nice enough to deal with and good for simple things, reliable for a quick tow if you need one, but be cautious. They sold me a car that leaked oil in several places. In the end, I couldn't even sell the thing, a total loss. EDIT: Yes, the totaling of the car was on me, although I think the man who stopped short in front of me on the LIE for no apparent reason deserves some of the credit too. And yes, you did go above and beyond to help me get the car registered and on the road very fast, which was something I and my boss appreciated at the time. That definitely deserves a mention. Your customer service is unassailable. My problem here is with the fact that the car in question was leaking oil BEFORE the accident, and every mechanic I talked to assured me that it was not caused by the accident. I did want a cheap car, but also a reliable one. I wanted something that would last awhile. If a car is leaking oil right out the gate, it's not reliable. I even asked you about the oil for the Subaru, as it was my negligence of the oil in the Impala that led to the blown engine. In the end, it was the oil leaks that put it beyond repair and left me with a massive hunk of steel I couldn't even sell. Look, I like you guys personally, you were very nice and very professional, but how could you sell me a car that leaks oil and not tell me? It wasn't as if you'd never seen it before. Went there for the first time for an oil change. They not only did the oil change but filled the wiper fluid and, most amazingly, fixed the front lip spoiler that had been hanging down. They didn't say anything about or charge me - they just did it and I noticed it when I go home. Also, the oil change was done quickly and the guys there are personable enough. Im just so disgusted with the behavior of the mechanics and "owner". I had a horrible experience. My car stopped working in the middle of the LIE. I had no brakes and i literally thought i would crash. The tow truck got there in 30 minutes. Thats not the issue. AAA misguided to me this place and advised me this was the closest repair shop. Because i depend on AAA and this AAA approved repair shop i said yes take it there. Oh what a sad mistake. When i walked in with my father and boyfriend. We weren't acknowledged. Treated as if we were a nuisance. The "mechanic" was new and admitted he was a month in to this job. He had no clue what was wrong. He couldnt help me. He continued to refer to the owner. Who refused to come out and talk to us...a little communication goes a long way. Please reassure me. Tell me this could be handled. Are we wasting our time. The owner came out to tell us we couldnt stand i the lot. And got very rude with us. Ive never been treated so poorly. After dealing with a situation like i did . The last thing i needed was to be disrespected. I called AAA and asked for my car to be moved from the lot. When we left because we got a ride. Beware of this place! This place is what gives mechanics a bad name. Put a transmission in my car, 2 months later having problem with transmission and there is no warranty. Owner, Neil, claims we were told it is a "used" transmission and there is only a 30 day warranty. I had to take it back every week until finally had enough and brought it to Chevy. They told me double n totally messed up the truck by putting an aftermarket fuel injector in the truck and only replacing 1 when all 8 were bad. The most unscrupulous towing service that I ever meet. My mother was involved in a car accident in middle island on Wednesday of this week. The police officer called the next person on the tow list which happened to be double n towing & automotive. When we inquired to pick up the car on Friday since they are not an auto body shop they said it would be $ 750.00 cash, no ends or buts, that's it. First of all the town of Brookhaven regulates what a tow service could charge and not even close to what he charged. Please beware before using his services. read more

I was driving my moms car and it broke down on 347 in a turning lane. I'm 5 months pregnant and it was 86 degrees outside. My mom called AAA to get me towed and notified them that I was pregnant and they told her they'd arrive to tow me within 10-15 mins, I then receive a call 45 minutes later saying that I was priority and that they would be there in 20-25 minutes. Mind you the AC wasn't working in the car and even though i had the windows open there was no breeze since it was so hot outside. They finally arrived after me being stuck for 2 1/2 hours when I was considered "top priority" They didn't charge me for the extra miles to tow my moms car home, so I was thankful for that but I still think that they shouldn't use the term "top priority" if they do not mean it. read more

Had the timing belt replaced on one of the vehicles recently after using Double N for years. Broke down on the LIE. $450 in tow charges later we investigate the problem. The amateur mechanic who replaced the timing belt -- not a terribly difficult job -- failed to properly torque down the crankshaft pulley. As a result, it came loose and threw off all of the drive belts. The alternator then stopped charging, killing the battery and resulting in a costly replacement. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars in repairs. While tearing the car down, an independent mechanic noted that bolts were broken or missing entirely -- the fan clutch was missing a bolt and the entire assembly was held on with a zip tie. The splash guard had been rattling for months and this was because only 2 of the 4 bolts were reinstalled and holding it on. This is the caliber of work you expect from a backyard mechanic, not an established shop. Because they were in a rush and haphazardly threw everything back together I have spent $450 on a tow, ~$300 in parts, and more in labor amounting to just under a thousand dollars. We have been loyal customers for almost a decade but will never go back to Double N again. Be wary. read more

These guys should be ashamed of themselves. After my wife and 4 children were involved in a car accident the police informed me "double n" would come and tow the truck to their location up the block from the accident. Instead the car was delivered to a place 5 miles away. When I called the next day to arrange pick up at 3:30 pm I was told they close at 3. This was an obvious way to keep my car for another day since they actually closed at 5 pm. The next day I was presented w/ a bill for $418.21!! - towing:$170 - yard charge? $45 - labor? $65 storage - $105. The storage was $35 per day for 3 days (charging me for the day of the accident as well even though it arrived there at 4pm), so what's the yard charge they are already charging $35 per day. $65 labor? , Isn't that supposed to be part of the outlandish price of $170 for towing. When I arrive to get the truck and question the bill I am informed that I will not receive the truck until it is paid for. I hand them my credit card to pay there ransom and now I'm informed it is cash only!! Another obvious way to get the car to stay another day. As a small business owner I was appalled at not only the way they are taking advantage of people in a vulnerable time but also in the way they treated me in general. I will never have a car towed from an accident scene again and I certainly hope this place receives the bad karma it so richly deserves. read more

I have a foreign car and an 81 old school Camaro and they have all the right tools to fix them. Last night my Camaro broke down and they came within 15 minutes to tow me. I brought my truck here early in the morning to get a fuel pump put in. Was promised it would be finished the same day. Thought I got a reasonable quote. Well two days later I got my truck back and the job was way more than I was quoted. They tried to make their problem my problem with a part quote. Needless to say I don't think they know what they are doing and I won't be back. Yes they tried to apologize, but they should have giving us the part for what they told us it was and ate their mistake.Just so you know My husband has over 35 yrs experience in the business of auto repair. They had my car in the shop for 10 days stated they repaired a computer module charged me $1095 to fix explained that it took so long because he had to ensure he was fixing the correct thing. I left the shop I didn't even make it a half a block down the road and the same problem I was having prior to bringing it in happened again, I had them come get the car they brought it back to the shop had the windows open in the pouring rain while trying to diagnose it. I removed my car from the premises in fear of more damage from the rain, they refused to refund my money stated it was a different problem. The owner became irate with me cursing and screaming like a lunatic and demanding I leave his property. I took the car to another shop were they had to replace the same computer module that was stated to already have been replaced,and it only took them 3 days to do so. I contacted the merchant again to refund my money, I offered to give them the part they claimed they replaced back but he still refused he demanded I leave and that he was calling the cops read more

Okay now, WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!!!! I had a car towed to Double N thru AAA. The tow truck driver said he was a mechanic and that it looked like a quick fix, and I could even get it towed home and fix it myself. We decided to let the car be taken to Double N. I was assured by the driver that I would get a call back in 1 hour, but did not. I called them 4 hours later and was told they had not looked at it as they were waiting for a lift to open up. 10 minutes later I get a call that the engine is shot and it blew a rod. I wasn't sure what this meant and neither did the receptionist who relayed the info to me. I asked to speak with the mechanic Josh and I was told he was busy and to call back at 5:50 pm which I did and was told he had already left. I then worked all day and into the night the next day so came in the day after to talk with the mechanic on what was going on and get the car towed. I know it took 5 minutes to look and see there was hole in the engine as I was called back 10 minutes after them stating they still did not look at it. So now I have a dead car and he charged $39.99 for diagnostics. This was taking a flash light and seeing a hole in the engine,. I asked to speak with the owner, who appeared to have maybe drank 3 red bulls, he was talking so hyper and would not let me speak. He went off blaming me for complaining the day before and that the mechanic had no time to talk to me. I told him I never complained. The owner also said he had no time to talk to me, as he has cars to fix. yet he had time to complain that he has to pay everybody and all his money goes to other things not him. He asked if I worked and wouldn't I want to get paid. I tried to speak and he basically would not let me. He said I could charge you for storage. I wanted to say you guys did not get back to me, but he said I am busy and would not let me speak, so I just smiled and I said okay I will pay the diagnostic fee. He states "whats so funny, why do you keep laughing," He actually was so out there that it was hard to believe, and so I had to laugh, which he took offense to. So, I mentioned to the receptionist that if he was a nicer guy I probably would come back there and nicely paid the bill and walked out and went to my car sitting in the lot. I put in for the tow thru AAA and waited in the car and began emptying out the contents of the car that died into my functioning car while I waited. I also made a call to AAA to complain about this guy while I was waiting, and asked not to send in the complaint as I still wasn't sure I wanted to do that. AAA sent in the complaint anyway while I was waiting at the lot. Neil the owner got real upset, I wast told I had to leave the lot for insurance purposes. I was then told I had to pay upfront for any overage in miles I said I will pay when I get home as I have always done. He said since you put a complaint in your card won;t be accepted at your home, I was told by AAA that is not true, but they have the right to demand that I pay upfront. I asked if someone is stuck and does not have the money on them, can't they pay when they get home. So because I would not pay up front I was told that the tow was called off and the truck was right there to load the car on. I had to leave the lot , park across the street and waited for 4 hours and still did not get a tow from AAA. They said they could not find anyone else to come, and they tried to come to an agreement with the owner Neil, but could not come to an agreement with the owner. I had to call my own tow truck. The tow truck was just about to come and I realized I dropped the key on the lot. I went back to the lot to look for the key and a worker yelled at me "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE LOT" I said my car is there and I need to find the key and again he yelled with such an angry face : "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE LOT UNTIL THE OWNER COMES BACK. " I was not told when the owner would be back. I told him the tow truck was coming any minute and I need to find the key. He again yelled "YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE LOT" I then said to him then I have no choice but to call the police. He basically said, go ahead. As soon as the police came the owner showed up. Let me tell you the change in attitude. So comical this was. The owner then started helping me find my key and talking to me very nicely.???? The police said he will tow the car onto the street. He was so nice saying good by to the police. He towed my car off the lot, but would not tow it home. He knew how long I was waiting out there, but he could not care. It was 4 hours waiting outside his garage because AAA said I had to stay with the car, but not on the lot because the owner would not let me. What a nightmare! I called Tiffany's towing. She was so nice and accommodating. Came right on time and the price was right. Shame AAA contracts with such businesses. read more

I would rather walk home then give this mechanic my business in the future. I had a problem in February, where my starter broke. AAA towed me t the mechanic of their choice, Double N. Car was left over night and I find out they charged me about $500 to replace the starter!!! I questioned them but was told "that was the price", and I didn't know what to do. I put in a complaint with AAA after looking up the price of a starter and sending them my receipts. AAA came back to me that yes, this was more than I should have paid, but the mechanic apparently used some kind of express shipping.... on a basic Hyundai starter... right. That doesn't justify me paying double what I did. Fast forward to July, and my car won't start. I took it to the dealership this time, and they tell me the mechanic would put the starter in did a bad job, the wiring and connecter was DAMAGED and broke over time. Recently had long story posted of bad experience had with Double N over month ago, as felt treated very unprofessionally .....Apparently a management switch has occurred since that time and the new manager in charge is considerate and professional enough to take the time to reach out to myself, as well as other past customers, who felt they had a negative experience with there shop, and to listen to what occurred and make amends if possible....That is a good indication of a professional to do that considering he is unaware naturally of the specifics of each situation having not been involved, yet wishes to hear your side and hopefully correct....So given he was kind enough to do this I have taken down the previous post I had made, as I wouldn't hold a previous managers past actions against someone who wasn't there or involved with, and as stated in the earlier post, the mechanics themselves I had dealt with that day were all very kind and helpful, it was only the person in charge dealing with where the issues lied... so I give a 4 star review just for being professional and taking the time to call, and hopefully will leave a future 5 star review when having service done there in future read more
