I have had many bad experiences with mechanics in the past. Either they will do the repairs I requested, then something else would magically "break", or they only do enough to "make the car safe", not necessarily fixing the issue. With Hondaman, every visit has been incredible. If you need something fixed, they'll make it almost new. They're very honest with their work and will confirm with you before doing anything additional, whereas other places I've been to will do what they think is "important", then charged me for it after the fact. Hondaman will advise you of anything that needs to be done after they finish what you went to them for. Plus, their prices are reasonable and affordable. Only giving one star because it won't let me give this place a zero. I told him yesterday that it could have been an issue with the alternator, blew me off completely, messed around with the battery saying he "fixed it" my car died on me after I got it back 6 hours later around 8:51 pm. NOT an issue with the battery, issues with alternator fuse. I was stranded at a parking lot 3 cars tried jumping my car and nothing, I have proof of everything and he refuses to give me my money back even though he's the one that fucked up and wouldn't listen to the actual issue. A lie is a terrible way to begin a business relationship. I wanted a transmission flush and fill in my Acura TSX. I also wanted the external filter changed. 'Ryan' says there is no external transmission fluid filter. "But Ryan" I replied "I just saw a guy on YouTube change one...same year as mine". "Well I'm not YouTube" was his answer "and there's no external filter unless someone added it". Yes, someone added it...AT THE FACTORY IN JAPAN WHERE THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2006, GENIUS!! Like everyone else on Long Island, Ryan didn't want to do what I wanted; he wanted to do what HE wanted; and get paid twice as much as an Acura Dealer's service shop. In this case, he didn't want to change the filter because it's a pain in the *ss job that adds another hour of time to the work. He wanted $200 to drain 2 quarts of transmission fluid, then top it off with two quarts of new fluid. The tranny holds 6 quarts. Smithtown Acura wants $99 for the same work - except they were going to flush all the old fluid out in 3 stages. I think I'll take it to the dealer. It'll be well worth the trip. read more

My 2013 Honda CRV transmission was shuddering at 30mph for the last few months. I looked up the problem online and it was the fluid. I called Hondaman and Ryan knew exactly what was going on. I haven't been happy with my last mechanic, who was honest but extremely rude and made you feel kind of moronic for not knowing anything(I was also cursed at just for asking about wipers). Went to Hondaman for an inspection and I was in and out! I told them I thought I needed brakes and it was explained to me that I was ok and would need them later. Extremely honest and nice! Made me fee like a regular customer when I stepped in, like I had been going there forever. I came here before to replace the brakes on my Accord and Ryan quoted me a fair price. I showed up that morning and it was ready for me to pick up that evening. On another occasion, I brought my wife's Subaru Forester here because she her "Check Engine," Cruise Control, and Traction lights were all on. This is apparently a recognized problem with Subaru Foresters. I don't think I've EVER met a mechanic who is as honest, hardworking, and smart. As a small asian woman going to a car mechanic, I basically just assume that people are preying on my lack of knowledge...but not Ryan AT ALL. I cannot say enough good things about his service and dedication to his work but I'm gonna try... Service: Explains things about the car in ways that I can digest and understand. He is always cordial, and is completely transparent about his very reasonable pricing. Fits people into his busy schedule. And to top it all off, you can tell that he genuinely loves cars. Come here for direct, efficient, adept work from a very thorough mechanic who knows what he's doing. No question is too dumb, and no concerns are too small. He kept up communication and I didn't feel intimidated when walking in at all.
