This dinner is a really great, reasonable choice for any time of day. The key is to order the right thing. Stick to diner classics: a blt or melt, the matzo ball soup, omelets, milkshakes. Not the place to order orange roughy. Minus one star because sometimes items can be greasy and the prices are higher than other diners. read more

Fully disappoint, I've been coming here and other locations for years and I was just enlightened this evening by our waitress. I just found out that all breakfast meats are cooked in the morning and then reheated throughout the day by a microwave. Regardless of you're request of making something on a flat top or fryer they will always cook it via microwave. We even spoke with the manager and he "ensured" us that the food was cooked fresh, so it came out and it was obvious it was just microwaved for a very long time. For an establishment that is open 24/7 there is no reason they should be cutting corners like this. I will be contacting Corporate on Monday. read more

I've been here several times before, but during my most recent visit I was struck by several things: 1) The weight of the menu-It must weigh several pounds and it contains everything under the sun. I wonder how the cooks keep things straight. 2) The sincerity and kindness of our waitress. She was honestly one of the nicest people I've ever met. 3) My daughter's shoe-She thought it would be funny to take it off and hurl it at daddy's head. That's another story. With such an extensive menu, you're relegated to good, not great, for everything but the specialities, which as near as I can discern, are breakfast items. I had a steak pannini which was extremely tasty and well prepared. Most others in the party had breakfast items and reported favorably as to taste and quality. I sampled my daughter's french toast and it was delicious-light and fluffy and of excellent flavor. Definitely a good choice for casual, reasonably quick dining. read more

The Double T is owned by a Greek family, and the menu reflects their tastes with quite a few Greek dishes, in addition to burgers, sandwiches, and a large variety of American and Italian entrees. Food is generally quite good and plentiful, the club sandwiches have meat piled up over an inch thick. Breakfast is served 24 hours a day. The dessert case is beautiful, and I am tempted to attack it upon entering the establishment. The servers are harried, but tend to get you there in the end... try not to need too many refills of soda pop. If you're a larger-size person, the booths can be a little snug - go for a table. The prices are very reasonable for what you get - everything from the grilled cheese w/fries to eggplant parm are very tasty. The cream of crab soup can also be quite good, but get the matzo ball if you can. My Personal Fave so far is the Feta Cheese Omelette. Yummo. read more

I've had so, so, so many memories at this restaurant. As a kid, I was all about the fifties diners. Put a jukebox at my table and I was set for life. In high school, it was THE place to go after metal shows at the VFW or Piezano's (remember that place!?). In college, it was where we went for post-bonfire drunkenness to warm up and sober up. Their menu is HUGE with a little something for everyone. My #1 recommendation from all of my years of experience with this place though: the french onion soup. The last time I was there, we had at least 18 people in our party and I think almost half of us ordered the soup. De-fricken-lightful. Seriously. I frequent this place quite often as it is the closest 24 hour diner to where I live. If you pick your selections carefully, then you can get a good late night meal here. My SO loves the banana pancakes. I tend to stick to the breakfast as well. The menu itself is huge. I am always nervous when I see a menu of that size. They have things like lobster and various pastas. Stuff that you just shouldn't order from a diner (says the guy who ordered pork chops from a diner). If you ignore 90% of the menu and stick to the traditional diner foods, you should be okay. Their pancakes are pretty good, as is their french toast (if you like the thick challah bread style, personally my french toast is better). The service is pretty good and the atmosphere is typical of a diner although the facility is a lot bigger than your typical diner. This place is like a trashy ghetto Denny's that seems likely to be a drug front. I didn't even get a chance to try the food; I left because after being seated no one showed up to take my order for over 30 minutes and the place was giving off some really bad vibes. If you're wondering what this place is like, all you have to do is imagine a generic trashy diner and this probably fits it to a T (pun intended). The employees all have a sketchy look to them, like they're part of the mob or a gang, and all the waiters are practically wearing a tuxedo (strangest uniform for a diner). The entire time I was there I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. The menu is probably the largest I've ever seen. You can imagine practically anything and it's probably in the book of a menu. The prices are shockingly high for what I imagine is just mediocre diner food. It honestly would probably be cheaper to take your family out to Olive Garden than this place. At first look, it looked like a typical diner with ample parking... both off the little side street and in the actual parking lot. Classic diner, huge menu, friendly staff, and always open....what more could you ask for? On this particular visit, I stopped in with 4 friends after a concert for some late night grub. It wasn't crowded yet, so we were able to get a corner booth and not much of a wait. Our server was super friendly, joking with us and keeping us laughing. The food is good, although my eggs benedict would have been better....the english muffin was a little burnt, and the hollandaise sauce was a bit bland, but the eggs were cooked to perfection and the side of fried potatoes was delicious. I have to be honest....I was REALLY tempted to get something out of the huge dessert case to take home with me, but I resisted. But I haven't stopped thinking about those mini lemon cheesecakes.......and I just might have to stop back and get one anyway. read more

Hubs and I came in one Saturday morning after an early flight to BWI to grab a breakfast/brunch before heading on our way. First, it's ridiculously easy to get in but a pain in the ass to get out if you want to get back to Rt. 50 east. It took a little old-school navigation and a lot of, "I think I know where this road goes..." to get back to the highway, but we figured it out. Anyway, brunch was exactly how I remembered it. The service was certainly two-stars, but the food was filling and certainly reminiscent of the greasy-spoon. Hubs had an Irish benedict and I had the crabcakes eggs benedict. I probably should have had something a little different since the crabcakes were definitely frozen at one point. I should have known better, but it hit the spot. To introduce Hubs to the finer points of southern cooking, I ordered a side of scrapple. The scrapple was about the size of a brick and served very unattractively on a saucer plate with all the meat falling off the sides, nor was it cooked completely through and very mushy. Yuck indeed. If I could do it again, I would have ordered lunch or something close to it and skipped on the scrapple. Father's Day Dinner this year was held here. Wow. No lines. No waiting. Handicap ramp. Handicap parking spaces (all were full & there were no other wheelchair patrons inside the restaurant but whatevs). We settled down into a nice comfy table for 5...right away...and right beneath the airconditioner vent AND a ceiling fan that was on. My dad said he was cold. The waitress did not offer to turn it down or anything. Oh well. We pumped him full of coffee and crab soup and he warmed up eventually. Plus the golf tournament was on the TV. Then the huge plates of food started coming out of the kitchen. Broiled seafood platters (with a crabcake, scrod, flounder). Baked potatoes. Green beans. Linguine Fra Diavola. Mussels. Cappellini San Martino. Salads. Bread. Wine. Iced tea. Everybody was happy. My dad, the worlds biggest strawberry fan, was ecstatic when that important question was asked: would you like to see the dessert menu? He didn't because he already knew what he wanted. Strawberry shortcake. There, it comes out with a thick icing of whipped cream and those glazed berries. Not my favorite dessert, but I sure did snag a few forkfuls when he wasn't paying attention to his plate. Hadn't been Doubble in a while, but traffic was bad and breakfast for dinner sounded good. Figured I could kill some time while traffic cleared. Ordered classic Eggs Benedict w/ Hash browns and 1/2 order of french toast. The hash browns had no crisp on them The english muffin. On the eggs benedict tasted both burnt and soggy at the same time. Not sure how they managed that. The poached eggs, were just a tad over cooked. Not warm and no run on the yolks at all. The french toast was stone cold and tasted burnt; one bite and done on that. HOT DAMN this food is AMAZING! First things first, you're going to spend forever looking through the extensive menu. I chose a the create your own pasta meal. It came with soup and bread. My husband ordered the mile-high meatloaf, which came with soup, salad and bread. While waiting for the entrees they brought our soup and bread out. They were amazing. About 30 minutes later our massive plates came out. The food was like going to grandma's house for a meal. It was so good, but neither of us could finish our food. We had breakfast. I ordered the lumberjack (biscuits and gravy with hash brown), and my wife ordered the country fried chicken. Coffee- terrible/burnt, couldn't drink it. Customer service - some good (Sean-waiter), and some bad-(Anthony-greeter host) Food- expensive for the quality, but mostly edible. It's standard truck-stop quality food, same as you would get at a Waffle House or McDonald's (although McDonald's has better coffee). Country fried "chicken" looked rubbery and microwaved, with the coating bubbling and coming off..looks like a microwaved breaded tenderloin. My wife tried, but couldn't eat it..it was dark meat, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't chicken, but tasted terrible either way. Waiter took it back and brought her 2 pancakes, which were actually pretty good (almost as good as IHOP). Biscuits and gravy were ok..not as good as bob evans, but better than McDonald's. Potatoes were good. It was a busy Saturday morning, The greeter/host ( anthony) was a little grumpy. It was our first time here, and when we entered, we asked a woman standing at what looked like the hostess station "do we check in here"? Apparently Anthony is the one who does this, and he came up and said, "wait a minute, wait over there"..not friendly, felt like we. We're bearded like cattle or school kids..he need to work on his customer service skills..even when it's busy, there a nicer way to make a first impression on your customers...this was our first time here, but we won't be back. The one redeeming quality was Our waiter (Sean ) was awesome. Super friendly and accommodating. Anthony could use customer service training from Shaun. One thing that grossed my wife out was the table cleaners/bussers were standing in the dining room with their tubs of dirty dishes and old food, waiting for tables to clear. They were standing around (obviously bored), just staring at the diners waiting for them to leave. To have tubs full of dirty dishes and food constantly near your customers that are eating is a bad idea. Most restaurants do a better job than this, they should look for a better solution than staring down the customers while they are eating, and having tubs of gross stuff near diners that are eating. read more

We are new in town and I took a house full to Double T for breakfast earlier this week. First thing we noticed is a full service bar. In a diner? Second thing was the AMAZING selection of pastries and cakes. After we were seated by the most cheerful and friendly waitress ever and made our selections from a burgeoning breakfast menu, we asked to see menus for lunch and dinner - it's HUGE with long lists of selections from burgers and sandwiches, Italian, Greek and the list goes on and on. Those aforementioned cocktails - $4.95 is the average price. Really? Have you ordered a cocktail at a bar lately? Ordering a whole cake is the best prices I've ever seen all over the country. We tried a variety of things and the portions were large, the food was hot and tasty and we will be back! They have daily specials on a white board in the front of the restaurant. I was looking forward to this diner because of the reviews and I was also a little hesitant of the reviews as well. I decided to try a burger to be safe and my boyfriend got the Chesapeake burger. We both got a cup of French onion soup as well. The soup was so salty so I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend said his burger was delicious, but I thought my burger was okay. I have been to the Double T Diners in central Maryland numerous times, and the Annapolis location has proven to be the worst (ironically, I think the Ellicott City location has prepared the most palatable food, and that location has the worst average Yelp review). Having grown up around here, the Double T was always the diner to go to, especially late night for fourth meal. I write today to express my dissatisfaction with the Annapolis Double T and to beseech other diners to patronize Denny's or IHOP instead (or put up the cash for Miss Shirley's). My latest experience highlights the problems at the Annapolis Double T: I arrived early afternoon when the restaurant was half-empty and was promptly forgotten about by the waiter. When I finally ordered, either the waiter or the kitchen botched my side and gave me cold, disgusting hash browns instead of french fries. My omelet was flavorless and not fully cooked (and that has been the case EVERY time). Finally, their coffee was, once again, bad; it is undoubtedly the worst diner coffee I have ever consumed. read more

I've also come here for dinner which did not disappoint. The prices are affordable, and the menu has a lot of variety. I'm not in Annapolis very often, but when I am, I often don't get a chance to eat dinner until late, after a lot of the restaurants are closed. So when I first found the Double T Diner several months ago, it seemed like a godsend. I've been there a couple of times before now, and if I had rated those past experiences, I'd probably have given them three stars -- nothing great, but it got the job done. That is, until my experience last night, which I think has completely turned me off to the place. This time I ordered the turkey club, which I hadn't had there before. It turned out to be the worst sandwich that I've had in a long time -- totally bland. The turkey had no flavor. Even the bacon seemed flavorless. The lettuce seemed less than fresh, and there was way too much of it. All of the ingredients seemed pretty low quality, and not fresh. The only thing that I could really taste in the whole sandwich was the low quality, generic white bread. Gross. Worse, the fries that came with it were seriously undercooked. For the most part, they were on the edge of cooked, though from time to time I'd hit spots that were still pretty much raw potato. Still, probably stupidly, I attempted to power through it. For one thing it was late, and I had a long drive ahead of me, so I didn't want to wait any longer for them to make something else. For another, I was raised with probably a little too much of the ethic of not wasting food, and there was a huge plate of it in front of me. I managed to make it through half of the sandwich and maybe about a third of the fries. Then I hit yet another raw fry, at which point I hit a wall where I was so grossed out that I just couldn't handle any more. On the positive(?) side, my appetite was totally gone by that point. Apparently I managed to eat just a little too much of it, because the waiter and the manager were completely uninterested in my complaints. I wasn't even trying to get them to take it off the check (though I guess they just assumed that I was?), I just wanted to give them feedback on it, but they were just downright rude in their responses. This was a huge disappointment. We read other reviews and were excited to try the diner. We were seated fairly quickly and the service was average. The food, however, is what brought it down from a four to a two. I had the tuna melt. The soup I ordered was delicious, but the melt was unlike any I've had. It was served open faced, which seemed unusual. There were two large circles of tuna salad covered by three pieces of American cheese. The cheese wasn't warm, much less melted. The bread was soggy on the top and burned on the bottom. It was served with a large pile of fries, nice slices of red tomatoes, and pieces of iceberg lettuce. I wasn't sure how to eat it. Assembling it as a sandwich would make it impossible to eat. The tuna salad was primarily mayo and as a result was tasteless. The omelet ordered was flavorless. It's everything a diner typically is...the menu is HUGE; has everything you can think of and breakfast is 24 hours, so I had a spinach, mushroom and tomato omelette (picture attached). Only been to the Double T Diner twice, but plan on going back. The place is 24 hours so that is always a good thing and breakfast is served 24 hours. I love there food and there atmosphere. The breakfast prices are pretty reasonable for the portions that you will get, which is all I've gotten both times I was there. A friend of mine ordered some seafood and her bill by itself was around $25 dollars, so I'd recommend stickin' with breakfast. The staff is always nice and attentive to what you need at the table. Constantly stopping by to see what they can do for you. The only reason I gave the restaurant 4 stars and not 5 is because of the conversation I overheard between the staff. If made me lose my apatite. The alcohol selection is nice and pretty reasonably priced. I usually just get a corona though anywhere I go. All in all this is a great place to go eat by yourself at the bar or with a few people. I've still haven't tried any of there deserts but I was there when fresh cakes came out and they looked so good. Maybe next time 4 out of 5 read more

I've driven by this place approximately 1 million times on my way to or from the Annapolis mall and its' surrounding shopping. Always looked funky, it's one of those really shiny and bright neon diners. The other day I stayed with a friend and got up early to go to the mall, without knowing that it doesn't open until 10am! So I decided to finally try out old Double T. At first I was a little annoyed, the waitress took awhile to get to me, but then I realized that if I had been back in nyc, I would have thought nothing of the 3 minute wait. I ordered the broccoli and cheese omelette and added peppers and tomatoes. It was frickin delicious. It came with potatoes and I got a side of toast. I was so full when I was done and it was SO good. It only came to like $9 or something, so it was a great deal too! The waitress turned out to be quite nice, just your typical sassy diner waitress, where would we be without them?! read more

Every time I have been to Double T (heck, just driving past and looking at the parking lot), the place has been packed, so either there are a lot of desperate folks willing to eat anything, or the food is really, really good. Fortunately, it's the latter. I have never had a bad meal here. I have been to Double T for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and it has all simply been fantastic. The family that runs the diner are Greek, so you'll find a Greek theme to the menu, as well as every other American heart attack-inducing meal you can think of on it! I generally get the hot open-faced turkey sandwich, and while not original, it is still nothing short of delicious. Try the specials of the day, you'll be pleasantly surprised! Centrally located in Annapolis off rt50. This diner is above average. LOTS of food choices and everything I've tried has been really good. From breakfast choices (french toast is yummy) to lunch (veggie soup is amazing) to dinner (seafood, pasta's, steak) but it's the desserts that keep us coming back. As you come in, there's a huge glass cabinet full of delish desserts. So many choices - we usually pick several to take home and share. Service can be slow because they are always crowded and busy but booth tables have the mini jukeboxes which I take full advantage of. (a little Elvis, some Nickelback, Pink, Brittany, Kid Rock, even a bit of country thrown in too) Clean, including the restrooms. Waiters/waitress' wear black pants, white shorts and black vests. I think it's kinda nice for them to have a uniform of sorts and not just some dirty apron. Prices are average I think. (I'd rather eat here than at a Ruby Tuesdays or Chilli's where I'd spend the same money and get crappy food.) Can't wait for my next trip here. read more

My husband and I stopped here for lunch around 4:30 - 5 PM today. I ordered a grilled chicken sanwhich no cheese and upgraded to clam soup and onion rings. My husband got a gyro and chicken noodle soup and a salad. From the get go I did not feel comfortable. I asked for sugar free iced tea and got a blank stare. You mean "unsweetened"? The waiter corrected. Yes, I said, I am tired and did not mean to confuse you by asking for a drink in an non standardized way. I blew his mind I suppose . He just seemed like my being there was such a hardship. Smile a bit and be friendly I thought. So began our visit. I got my iced tea and added my sweet n low. Refreshing. We ordered. Soon our soup was delivered. I thought a mistake was made. I had veggie soup. I have never heard of vegetable crab soup before. It was ok if a bit too salty. Next our sandwiches came. My chicken patty was on view on my bun. It did not look at all appetizing. Scored on one side and poked with holes on the other. Some kind of frozen, manufactured, processed thing. It looked overcooked and utterly dried out. I saw a mound of greasy looking onion rings. I dug out a small one and tasted it. Yep greasy. I ate two more of the smallest ones. I stopped and off loaded them to a napkin. NO THANKS. I then dressed my grilled chicken. I put mayo on both buns. Sandwich lube. Added some fresh onion pieces and one of the two slices of under ripe tomatoes and a few pieces of the ridiculous pile off iceberg leaves. I cut my sandwich in half. And took a bite. Yes it is over cooked and dry. Tasted very much charcoalish. I was hungry so I pushed on. I told my husband it was dry and tore of a piece to give him. He agreed. I forced the rest of the smaller half down and gave up. Utterly unappealing. Very disappointed I stopped and drank some iced tea. I told my husband that I thought the fry oil had not been changed in way too long and our fried vegetables were over brown from old oil rather than cooked to crispness. I ate one of his fries. Yes greasy, under cooked, mushy though very brown and barely warm. He trooped on eating his gyro with his fork. I asked why he was trying to eat it that way. It had fallen apart he said. It was soggy and a nasty heap. Apparently it had been served over dressed and soggy. He was disappointed too. But hungry enough to forge on. I commented McDonald's would have been better and I felt complaining in order. Was I just being a grouch? He was not happy either. So I called over the manager. I told him the same observations said above. That we were Disappointed, I said we would not be returning. He said he was sorry I was disappointed. Gladly he never offered anything else. I was not willing to try again anyhow. When we arrived the parking lot usually full was instead half full. I thought it was because of the time of day. Post lunch pre dinner. A lull. I should have taken that as foreboding. The manager did take off my meal which is something. And did give me another iced tea to go as I requested. And NO I DO NOT. NOT NEED A DOGGIE BAG FOR MY LEFTOVERS!!! YUCK. Tim took me to Chick Fil A. I got a MOIST PERFECTLY PREPARED sandwich and crisp waffle fries cooked in (obviously from the appearance) CLEAN oil. My biceps still hurt from lifting the menu at Double T Diner in Annapolis. It seriously had to weigh five pounds, and was chock-full of scrumptious delights for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The diner is open 24 hours/7 days and serves breakfast anytime. The menu is a typical diner menu with boxes and stars and neon print and forty 'leven million different fonts to a page. I needed meditation music in order to concentrate and read the descriptions. I decided to stop trying to read everything and just went for a scrambled egg plate with bacon, grits, and home fries. Typically, servers at diners know how to turn and burn to get people in and out quickly. Therefore the service was fast and competent. No complaints there. I like my scrambled eggs well down, even with a slight browning to them. Double T's eggs were perfect with a little browning, but still fluffy on the inside. The grits were okay. They had a weird aftertaste to them. The best way I can describe it is to say that they tasted like they were made with city water. The bacon was good--crispy around the edges and chewy down the middle. The home fries were just sliced potatoes browned with onions. I like hash browns with ketchup, and after I added some to the home fries, they tasted just like Waffle House. This was a typical breakfast diner experience.
