Food and service so good you'll forget you're in a mall parking lot!…read more We were out running errands and decided to grab a bite. Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? You should make the drive to Waugh Chapel Station and get some fresh, delicious, better- than-home-cooked food.

Not sure if Veteran owned but flags inside pay homage to our military. This place is a little different. You are assigned a number and an animal so they know where to serve food. I was 22 with a giraffe. Cool. Don't forget your number. If you do, remember your animal. I walked in just before Noon. I ordered and paid at the counter. I had my meal almost as I sat down. As we passed Noon the eat in crowd grew so I imagine service could slow a bit but still pretty quick. I loved my meal. However, and I hate to report this, I found a small hair, not mine, in the hash. I absolutely hate that. I did not finish the hash. The hash also had a slightly sweet taste that that I'm not used to but it was good. Because I think this place has potential I will only knock one star off for the hair. Normally, I would go as low as one star. Like I said I like this place and believe they can do better. I would add that it would be nice if they checked on you one time but this place is a hybrid between self serve and table service. Everyone else here looks like they are enjoying their food. Lots of folks. I did too. Just not as much as I could have. Visit Grumps. I think you will like it. I guess just be aware.

We were seated almost immediately there wasn't many people in the diner. I had to use the bathroom so I walked in there and didn't smell very good. First bad sign. I walked in used the bathroom went to wash my hands, and one of the towel dispensers wasn't working at all the light didn't turn on. The other one worked but the towels were just placed on top of it. No one bothered to refill it. The toilet paper dispenser was also really close to the ground, and I saw a lot of elderly people in there which made me wonder why it was so close to the ground? Not everyone can reach that low. It was also the handicapped stall that had this in it. I am almost fell off the seat. It also didn't feel super clean. I went back to the table and order an egg sandwich on a bagel with Canadian bacon with a side of hash. My dad ordered some scrambled eggs, potato's and sausage. My sandwich didn't have any flavor I had to put pepper and salt on it for it to taste ok and I didn't eat the other half of the bagel it just wasn't satisfying. The hash on the other hand was really tasty. My dad said his egg and sausage was ok nothing great. He said the potato's were kind of gross and I have never seen my dad not eat everything on a plate before plus he is a pretty fantastic cook and has worked in many kitchens and said this food wasn't good. Personally I would have just kept driving if I knew what this food was like. When we were about to leave the waiter had noticed I didn't finish my food and he shook his head at me which threw me off. Very strange.

The two pianist did no dueling at all; they did mostly duets or took turns taking requests. I was hoping to witness a musical battle. In addition the food was horrid. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with the mushroom risotto but twice my shrimp were undercooked literally gray lines still on the shrimp. When I asked for melted butter for my broccolini I was given cubes of cold butter. I then ordered the short rib having given up on the shrimp and the short ribs slow cooked would surely be done and savory however the carrots could not be cut with a knife at all. I returned the dish and decided to give up. My partner ordered the fish and chips but the fish and chips had a charred old taste as the grease was old and therefore the food had a Smokey taste. I looked at my surroundings and everyone pretty much ordered sandwiches and fries of which they left ample amounts of food untouched. As for the drinks the holiday margarita was mostly ice, very thin small glass and there was no edible glitter in it as promised per the menu. No beers on draft. U had spoke highly of this place after my experience with Chef Ahmad but since I regret I can no longer speak highly. Last but not least the grinch and Santa were the personality for the evening and carried the energy. The waiter due to me not having any food did not comp, send over a manager or right the wrong. I will not return nor recommend. Either do events well or food well; this event was a miss on both. We left early as the event was mediocre at best but also I was hungry and in need of food.

So we drove a good 30mins to get here, with anticipation from seeing this restaurant on a travel channel, but the original location is in NY. We get there, and its plenty of free parking. We ask for seating for 3 and we are told they are only seating individuals who booked a reservation. Totally understandable considering its Valentine's day. I dropped the ball folks. I didn't make a reservation. So I noticed a bar lounge which we were told we could wait for a seat to open up. As we were waiting a coupled jumped in front us and took a seat. The manager Claudia came to the rescue like the dark knight but with more grace. She mentioned she was willing to put us on the list for a table in the main dining area. I accepted her kind gesture and continued to wait for bar lounge seating to open up. A couple was kind enough to come over to us and ask if we were waiting for bar lounge seating. They offered their table to us as they were ending their night. There was a 2 man band playing in the lounge area that was very soothing to the ear. As I tried to help my mother get comfortable at the hightop table, I noticed she was having a difficult time getting seated in such a high chair. Guess who came to the rescue, you guessed, Claudia! She's the best, 100 grand, made me a real fan. So she came over and said our table was ready if we wanted a booth seating and we all know that's the best seats in the house. All I could think is look at God. The wait wasn't even long either. 10 out of 10 for saving the day. In addition our waitress was such a sweetheart. I mentioned a white malbec I saw on the menu that I was astonish to see b/c I never knew of such a thing. She bought me a small glass to taste and my God, I am a true believer Jesus turned water into wine. Its so clear like water but the taste is amazing. The food is so delicious. The restaurant is very clean. The staff is very personalable. Everyone cartered to us. You would have thought we were the Obamas or something. As we were stuffing our faces, Claudia comes around handing out roses to the men/boys to give to their dates. Complimenting my son and his daper outfit she hands him a rose and tells him to give it your mommy. At the moment he lights up with a big smile as if he paid for the rose himself. I can tell he felt like a gentleman and good that he could give his mother a red rose on Valentine's day. That small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. I apologize for my essay, but they desired it. I love the service, the ambiance, the food, and service. I haven't seen my mother smile so much in a while. So it bought me great joy to give my mother this experience on Valentine's day. I thank Nonna Angela's staff for such a wonderful experience.

The covered patio with string lights looked especially inviting and would be a great spot to hang out when the weather cooperates. To start, I tried the cornbread with a flavored butter spread. The space has the feel of a local sports bar where regulars gather to catch a game, grab a drink, and enjoy some comfort food. There was plenty of parking, and the service was friendly throughout my visit.
