Solid local breakfast spot. Great service. Lots of egg options, and basic sweeter options of pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffle, and crepes. We got the western omelette which came with a side of pico. Be warned, that includes fresh jalapeño which my husband enjoyed but would have killed me (ha!). He also added a side pancake instead of potatoes which he said was really good. High praise as he's very picky about his pancakes. I got the Maryland crab omelette which was delicious. The table included a shaker of old bay which was a nice touch. Coffee was decent. We also got one each of their daily special muffins to go (pecan pie and coffee cake) but we haven't eaten them yet. I'm happy to report that things haven't changed here since they opened, at least not in a negative way. My only real complaint is the hours; they're only open to 1pm (1:30pm mostly, but it was shortened by a half hour during the summer, from what the note said). The food continues to be good, your standard breakfast fare mostly. There are dishes beyond that, but it generally fits the brunch mood. The décor is fine; place is always clean, furnishings look well kempt. The service was also great. We arrived around 12:45 and they sat us without any hesitation. (No calls of "well, we're closing soon...") The prices are very affordable, especially compared to similar sit-down establishments. Plus, you shouldn't be leaving hungry! You get what feels like a field's worth of potatoes per order! LOL! This isn't a complaint, more of a note: the location might be hard to see from the road. It's in the same shopping center as the PetSmart, but it's tucked away in the back. If you can see the PetSmart, you're nearly there, just keep looking towards the far end of that little strip of shops. It's in the second building tucked away in the corner. Again, not a complaint, just a heads up. It's a great alternative to fast food greasy food and the other chains of diner-like offerings. We came on a Friday morning at 7:45 and there were some families already there with plenty of seating available. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was very clean and cozy. We ordered the American breakfast with sides of eggs and trio of blintzes. The food was hot and came out so quickly. The American breakfast was good - you can't go wrong with eggs, potatoes, and sausage links. The blintzes were bigger than I expected and the hazelnut one was the best. Bold name choice for a restaurant that's mediocre at best. The service was fast and friendly, but the food made my mouth sad. The toast was soggy, and the butter that came with it featured a mothball-esque flavor. As a Marylander, the Marylander omelette had such a small amount of crab that it made me disappointed in myself. I may have to start identifying as from another state. The Chesapeake Benedict was also disappointing, but at least featured the crab mentioned in the description. My husband and I tried this restaurant this morning for the first time. It is much larger inside than it appears. The decor is very nice with a lot of wood accents. We were seated promptly, and our server was by almost immediately to offer us coffee. However, things slow down a lot after that. When the waitress did come back to get our order, my husband ordered the corn beef hash, and I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of hashbrowns and eggs. My husband said his meal was OK but the corned beef hash did not have a lot of flavor. My pancakes were cooked well and had just enough chocolate chips to not be overpowering. The hashbrowns were cooked a little too long and were somewhat dark. However, my sunny side up eggs were cooked appropriately. Service was very slow and we had to wait quite some time for our waitress to come back to offer us more coffee and then even longer when it was time for our check and to get a box. We found we had to wait quite some time before she came back to offer us a box and bring us our check. My husband and I were by far the youngest people in the restaurant at the time we were there. It very much seems like a meeting place for seniors. It seems like a lot of those customers or regulars because the waiters and waitresses knew them. So, it seems like a nice Local spot. As I said, the food was OK, but we were a little disappointed in the service. However, we might have just gone on the wrong day. I am lactose intolerant and asked if they use milk or cream in the eggs (as they're described as "fluffy" and places often mean that). Server insisted "oh no, no at all." We went today and had a great experience. My husband and I both got build your own omelets with crab. The vegetables we got in our omelet were by far the highlight. Crisp and flavorful. We couldn't taste the crab - it wasn't lump and it looked like it was mixed into the egg. He got fruit as his side with rye bread. He said the fruit was extremely fresh and the bread tasted freshly baked. I got an English muffin - which he ate - the top was fresh, but the bottom was like a hockey puck - I'm guessing a bad cut? I got grits as my side and didn't really eat them at all. The service was great and the food came out quickly and freshly. Oh we got a cinnamon roll to go. He was really excited about it, but didn't eat it because it had a slight garlicky taste...like from cross contamination when it was being made or packaged. Wife and I were in the area and I wanted a good breakfast so off the Eggcellence we went. I usually always get the eggs Benedict with potatoes and wife had 1/2 waffle eggs and bacon, everything was very good as always. This morning I was excited to have breakfast here with my mom. We hadn't eaten here in a while because of the pandemic. When I arrived the owner was taking a guest to their seat, so I waited my turn. At that time no one else was waiting. By the time he came back a couple had arrive. Instead of the owner asking who was next, he quickly asked the couple if they wanted inside or outside seating. While still never acknowledging me with a simple hello. Someone else seated the couple while the owner walked away from the host desk. Meanwhile I am the only person of color waiting to be seated. He had the nerve to walk away and I had to stop him to let him know that I arrived prior to the couple and I need to be seated. The owner acted like I was bothering him, the nerve. As much as I wanted their Chesapeake Omelet, I left. I go where people celebrate me and not tolerate me. It saddens me to have to write this review after writing a couple great ones. I'm noticing a trend where I'm getting exceptional service from individuals that coincides with subpar food. I have been to Egggcellence a handful of times, and my standard go-to is an eggs benedict. Today, I wasn't as hungry, so I chose the cinnamon roll, and boy, do I regret it. I posted a picture of my hard and partially iced roll. Unfortunately when I was halfway through my meal a waitress knocked my whole table over into my lap. Then they brought me my check while I was cleaning food, water and coffee of my pants. We stumbled upon this place because we wanted to stop by for brunch somewhere and beat morning traffic from rehobeth beach while we were heading back to the dmv area. The food was absolutely spectacular. I got the crab cake while my friends got a crab omelette and veggie omelette. We shared a Orange creamsicle muffin which had so much flavor and a wonderful cinnamon roll. The service was great. The staff was friendly and attentive and immediately brought me (really good!) coffee and cream so that was great. The cinnamon bun was huge and so we split it, and the manager/owner was nice enough to share homemade jam. It was awesome! Finally, I can't say how elated I was to see a bottle of hand sanitizer at each table. They dont do reservations but their wait wasnt too long (especially on a sunday , mother's day morning)- we waited 20 minutes max. Inside is clean and the service is phenomenal! Eggcellence has been one of our go to breakfast restaurants for years. Yesterday (2/17/25) was our first real disappointment. I love cream chipped beef which was one of the morning specials. Both my wife and I ordered it and were really disappointed. There were chunks of meat in a way too thick sauce glopped on some soggy toast accompanied by enough breakfast potatoes to feed three people. The coffee was fairly flavorless.
