Great atmosphere, love being in the trailer section or bar as they call it. Very comfy bar top that is pillow cushioned with duct taped foam of different colors. Good canned beer selection, albeit is $3.50 a pop for a can beer which seems rather contradictory since I'm drinking in a double wide. Damnit they should just have a few kegs lined up and you pay like $15 for a plastic cup! The patio here is lined with old toilets that are broken, molded and vary in era. The patio is always buzzing, and everyone seems to be really cool too. Easy conversation with strangers here. Went into the other room and saw a band once and it was loud as hell!! Unfortunately last night changed my opinion completely. Amped up after seeing the Foo Fighters, I suggested we all go to the DW for drinks and more music. My friends had never been there and I really talked it up. Come to find out there was no live music that Saturday night, but instead a drag queen show. I asked the bar tender what was up, as I thought it was live music on weekend nights. In retrospect I think he took my comment as homophobic, which was not my intent. I was disappointed, nothing more. Fast forward a couple of rounds, I order a drink from another bar tender. He says "that will be $9 US". I give him a $10 and as he's turning around, I joke to my friends "what, did he think I was gonna pay in Pesos?" At that time he turns back and shouts at me "hey I heard that and you just said it cause I'm Mexican". He then comes out from behind the bar, rushes me and grabs me by the shirt. My girl friend jumped between us, causing him to back up and he rips my shirt in the process. Needless to say, we left and I will never go back. First, it's not a given that there will be a band on Saturday night like I assumed. Second, and most mportant, I can see how my comments could have been construed as homophobic and even racist, although that was certainly not my intent. But even so, it didn't justify being physically attacked by an employee. I tried calling the bar today but there's no working number, so I'm hoping the GM will read this. read more

It is still a good bar, despite being overrun by hipsters. Anyone else remember the Monkeybar which was right down the street? If only it could've held on a few years, the area has picked up so much. Double Wide could barely stay in business back then. I don't mind a bar getting popular- it's better than bars closing. read more

Went over the weekend for a friends birthday and had a great time! We almost didnt go because it looked packed from the road but we lucked into some good parking. The bar is really spread out and we never felt cramped or had to wait long for drinks. We took a ton of pictures of all the crazy decorations (like the toilet seat chairs and the naked lady paintings). There was some live music going on somewhere (hence the $10 cover charge) but we just hung out in the main bar/patio and chilled. I liked the hurritang drink..but not the Tang shot. Drinks seem to be pretty cheap and everyone (employees and patrons) were super nice. There was a great crowd there. Well..except the guy that kept trying to kick us off the patio at 1;45. One thing - be sure to check out your chair on the patio...mine had a gash in it and it ripped my pants. :( read more

Unique drinks that sound sweet, but are actually pretty awesome (even for a gin drinker whose mantra is "I want booze that tastes like booze")? Check. Surprisingly diverse, unique crowd, for a place called Double Wide, in Deep Ellum? Check. Fair amount of room, even late on a weekend night, to find your own corner to enjoy? Check. All-Texas/All-Local Craft beers on tap?? Double Check (and major bonus points) Why 3 stars, then? Well, I know this is Deep Ellum, & I fully acknowledge that this youthful, trailer-themed bar was NOT designed with me in mind (suburban & pushing 40)... but it has to be said: seriously THIS music at THIS volume?? I don't know what style it was, but it had a squalling, piercing death metal quality to it, played at an unconscionable volume. I don't even see how the young folk could be enjoying the place at all, you cannot hear anyone or anything indoors unless you shout at the top of your voice. Wouldn't it be even cooler & more in keeping with the Trailer theme if it was instead Merle Haggard & Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette & Johnny Cash greeting us through the speakers? Even the most tragically hip can appreciate retro music when they are in a themed bar. I would never go back to this place again unless I heard the music had changed- I literally left with a splitting headache. read more

Really fun atmosphere and décor. This place is big too, not crammed like the single wide. I would go here again, but the people weren't as friendly as the people at the single wide. its a bar though, its a must for bar hopping if you're in the area. read more

Double Wide - Dive Bars Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Friends and I decided to go here after work and we all arrived at 4:50 or so. Unfortunately the place doesn't open up until 5, so we waited in our cars. The "open" light turned on so we all got out of our cars and tried to go inside; however, the door was still locked. We looked at our phones and it said 4:57, so we just assumed they would unlock the doors at 5. My friend made eye contact with the employee multiple times and she still didn't open the door for us. 5:08 rolled around the corner and it still wasn't unlocked so we decided to leave. read more

OK OK, I think we've all established that Doublewide is a cool funky bar. Where I disagree with many of you is on the subject of their "specialty" drinks. You see, I personally don't like drinking things that taste like Draino, which is unfortunately what almost all of these drinks taste like. I mean, maybe I'm just not hard core enough to appreciate them. God knows the crowd here is far more intense than myself. I just prefer Fallout Lounge where they mix a drink that I think tastes good. If you like hot sweaty tiny venues for your punk rock needs, this is the place. The music room is tiny and the bar has a nice feel to it. My favorite place to see live music in Dallas....it very much reminds me of my youth back home in England watching punk bands playing tiny rooms upstairs in pubs. When I've visited Double Wide I haven't had any trouble parking, there's a plot of wasteland just around the corner that people use. I'm not going all the way and giving it a five because I've not sampled their drinks. I don't drink but I know that's an integral part of going out for a lot of people so I'll let everyone else bicker about Double Wides booze! read more

This place looks like a good place to pick up a knife fight from the outside but, the staff and patrons are always so friendly that it is on my Dallas Pub Crawl as the last stop because it is such a cool place to just hang out. The Trailer is where the bar is and there is a breezeway between that and the 37 person capacity rock venue with plenty of seating to kick back have a drink and a smoke. The crowd is mixed but tends to bend the scale needle to the college crowd side when there is a show. Even if you don't drink stop by and check out the artwork it's just outstanding. read more

I luv dive bars! There wasn't a band playing on this Wednesday night, but it was pretty chillax. It wasn't infiltrated by the SMU dweebs or collar poppers so that was a major plus+++++! I had few Crown on the Rocks, my fav! I then was informed by Melody of the cool specials that they had and I had to try something new, so I opted for the Twisted Tang. Yes, they use Tang! Awesomeness. Just talking about Tang reminded me of the good times when I was younger, ahhhh. I've been going to the Doublewide since it opened. I have gotten drunk and belligerent there numerous times, as one is want to do at a kitschy trailer park themed dive bar. I have had birthday parties there. I have performed there. I have absolutely had some of the best times there. I know some of the more recent comments seem to portray it as a place that harbors racists, but if it did, the owners and employees wouldn't tolerate my black ass still showing up after all these years. It and Singlewide are two of the least pretentious bars in town and Dallas needs more of that. read more

So I don't usually do this but last nights events still have me irritated. I was talking to a girl that I knew from high school when she fell face first out of chair as if someone drugged her. Her boyfriend starts saying he didn't bring her and looked at me and told me you brought her over and over. Obviously this irritated me that a man wouldn't take responsibility for his girlfriend. Next thing I know the "owner" tells me I have to leave. I tried to tell her I have no problem leaving I just need to get my friend who went inside to get some towels to help the injured girl. Well that wasn't good enough she still felt like she needed to put her hands on me to force me out after I already said I would leave and obviously her not knowing the real situation that had just happened. Fyi its not hard to manhandle a girl in 6 inch stilettos. I love this bar and never have problems here but I am seriously disappointed in how last night was handled by the so called owner. A mature person would have found out the situation before jumping to conclusions. Usually I give this place a 5 star because everyone is so cool but after last night I wouldn't give it 1 star. This has definitely become one of my frequent stops when in Deep Ellum. The yoohoo yeehaws are definitely addicting and a must if you're here. They have a outdoor space to hang at, because the inside can get pretty tight. 80% of the men here have beards and tight jeans. no complaint. Last time I was here, I struck up a convo with a guy waiting to use the restroom, and only later was informed that he is part of the Cold War Kids. So you never know who you will run into at this unpretentious dive. everyone likes hanging out here. and now hypnotic donut will be running their mobile donut shop here every saturday night! read more

Have been going to Double Wide for some time now. Its our staple, we may be away for a few weeks but our return is always welcomed and fun. Always guaranteed a good time, kitchy trashy cool. The bartenders are always fun and friendly, see Alison and Khurk for the best service and drinks EVER!! And Kimmie who owns the gaff is a hoot and a sweet sweet lady. The crowd is ever changing depending upon the band/themed night. There is the regular bar, a great courtyard and a whole other band/stage room with a bar too. Great for all types of shows Drrty RNR, punk, country, experimental, alternative...you name it it plays here at some point. I love this place, have never had a bad experience with any staff or regulars everyone is happy and some a little crazy. Always makes for good people watching. Try it on a weekend for your first time ...you wont be disappointed! oh and their parties are always fun...Kim goes all out with decor and entertainment. I love you Double Bubble!!! read more

You want the perfect kitchy Texas-themed one-of-a-kind bar to take out-of-towners? The Double Wide is it! With a rotating tornado atop an actual double wide trailer, the detail in the trailer trash decor is perfect. A mounted deer head on the wall, year-round Christmas lights, PBR served in the can, velvet paintings, the list goes on. The bar was near-closing not too long ago but luckily one of the bartenders wouldn't let that happen and bought it herself. Wow, Dallas could benefit from more citizens like her! Maybe if more of us rallied around our favorite city spots we could've prevented the Deep Ellum Bridge from being demolished to make way for another DART rail station that unfortunately no one will use. But I digress.... As for the 4 stars...there was one night that I went to see a band at the DW and the smoke was so insanely thick in the music venue area that I actually started to pass out. I started seeing stars and got tunnel vision so I forced some people to make room for me on one of the benches. I assumed it was the heat (that music venue gets hot and has little-to-no ventillation) because I instantly felt better outside. So I went back in and as soon as I inhaled that toxic air it happened again, so I had to leave. What a waste of my cover $! So now I know that I can't see shows there which is a bummer, considering Dallas' lack of mid-sized venues thanks to the recent closings of some of the best venues in town - Trees, Gypsy Tea Room, and Ballroom. And now that I am wheat-free and can't drink beer, I rarely go to the DW because they don't carry a wheat-free alternative like ciders. BUT it is still one of the city's best bars and is unlike anything else in town, thank goodness. read more

I gotta give props (i never say props) to The Double Wide my home away from home when in Dallas (my parents home). No matter where the night takes us, we will eventually end up here. Double Wide is a pretty cool joint. It's almost a rednecks dream bar. With drinks like the Yoo-Hoo Yee-Haw and Twisted Tang, both of which are really good. Double Wide offers some great music to round out the mix. It is a good place to watch local up and coming bands. Generally there is live music on the weekends. The place gets packed and parking in the area is at a premium. But while the surrounding area is a bit sketch, I didn't have any problems with my vehicle. The crowd leaves you with some great people watching too. As Double Wide seems to be a Hipster heaven, the crowd just makes me smile. Don't get me wrong good people but amusing! read more
