went to the double wide a couple of weekends ago to see my friends band play. i really enjoyed this place. its kitschy fun! me & my girl friends had a blast just chilling & looking around the place. it does look like a trailer lol, complete with grandma couches & randomness all around like a huge tire outside that me & my friends proceeded to climb into, pink flamingos, toilets outside set up as chairs lol. worth it to go out & just to take a looksey at the place. drinks were strong & reasonably priced (i think my go-to rum & diet was around $4) there is an outdoor area that connects the two buildings (one is the bar & one is where the band plays) the acoustics for the bands sounded GREAT not so loud that ur ears bleed & your brain hurts. but bring earplugs, for sure. this place is small but cozy & i chatted with a female bartender who was really sweet & nice. i would def come back if a friends band was playing or an event going on that i was interested in:-) read more

This was a really fun place to hang out at on my last night in Dallas, TX. It happened to be karaoke night and so everyone was in super high spirits! Also, there was a thrash metal concert going on just across from it, so you got this awesome acoustic ambiance outside of slightly out of tune vocals conflicting with growling kids. Great people, great atmosphere, great drinks. Took my out of town friends for a bit of out-of-their-comfort-zone bar hopping and we fell in love! Everyone was chill, drinks were cheap and it was over the top cool. We were so sad we left to go to another bar and should have just stayed there! Bathrooms were surprisingly clean. There is a love band area that requires a cover amount but we had an awesome time without it. Ornamental toilets as outdoor decor should be enough to send you running there! read more

I like this place okay. But it seemed as though if you're not a hipster you don't fit in. Has an Austin feel to it - ish. Cool little dive bar, and a stage area in the back. This is what dive bars dream to be. Walk in to toilet planters. flowered drapes & a Christmas tree. Have a seat at the bar, pop a Papst Blue Ribbon, get to know your neighbor and just have a great time. I went after another event wearing a silk dress & high heels and somehow didn't feel out of place. Anything goes. This is the place to leave any pretensions at the door, kick back with your drink, new friends & enjoy the music. I've been going to this bar on and off since it opened and every time I'm there, I have a fun time. I mean, how could you not with a bar with a turning tornado on top of it. Fun, themed, rowdy and hip. The bartenders makes some swell drinks. A good place to meet with friends and meet with new people. I like the outdoor patio area. To say the least, Double Wide is a breath of fresh air in the Dallas crowd. Oh God, there are no fake blondies with fake boobs and tons of make ups. One or other model-like-skinny-white-strange-dresses, grunges (they still exist), intellectuals and every type of people in their 30s. You can choose between the bar, the patio or the band area. For two beers and 1 Saphire gin tonic, USD 12. What's not to love about this place? We sat in a toilet in the patio before moving to a more comfortable spot. We were lucky enough to have men walking back and forth to the bar anytime we needed a drink, but at this point (1AM) the only thing I needed was my bed with no smokers around. I like it early. Used to love this place...even had my baby shower here. But last night was a complete let down and I won't be going back ever again. I went there last night with about 15 of my friends we were meeting for a Xmas work party. Door/Security guy was a jerk and ended up being the reason we all left after just getting our first round at the bar. He was completely disrespectful towards me and honestly a real let down. I've never had a problem at this place before...I tried to ask the bartender why he door guy was being so rude and he didn't have much to say. I was shocked by the lack of customer service or understanding from anyone there. What a joke. read more

I had a great time here! I like the inside/outside areas, and I love the tacky decor, especially the velvet Elvis. Someone I was with described it as being "full of beards and ironic hats", which is pretty accurate, so that should give you an idea of the crowd. There is really good music, an excellent vibe and strong CHEAP drinks, which are really all that matters in a great bar. Very cool joint, I'll definitely be back. read more

This place is awesome, full of hipsters, old punks, and the drunk old ladies walking, i mean stumbling from table to table. Pricing seems a bit high for a "dive bar" but, to be dive is trendy now-a-days, so it makes sense, by far not outrageous.. It's less divey and more like you're chilling in someones backyard, and Crow burger having the taco guy walk around completes the night for sure! . PBR for life! read more

Probably my favorite bar in Dallas. Good live music and the drinks are reasonable. I always have a blast.

This is one of the best bars in Dallas. Its got a very friendly atmosphere that may at times feel like a real-life "Cheers" for its regulars. Good times are always present here. You can enjoy various events such us rock DJs on Tuesday nights and great local shows on particular weekdays and always on the weekends. A great place to drink and socialize. the staff is excellent and when you become a regular, you start to feel at home. read more

Great local place in deep ellum. The bartenders are cool and pour a nice drink.

This was my first time to this bar. I really like that the $5 cover charge was for only the live band portion as opposed to the whole bar. It has a very laid back atmosphere with a ton of chill people. I felt like I could actually approach people and have conversations which is a nice change from most of the nighttime bar/club fusions, I will definitely be back! read more

I love this place, never seen a bad show, the bar staff are the best. But Sunday, March 22nd was a totally different experience and it was all down hill do to one rude staffer. The young tall door guy at the patio we've never seen before, with a chip on his shoulder. This guy was a real piece of work and insulted a group of us regulars. This isn't Dicks last resort, and even if we were to be tourists, your giving one of my favorite places a bad name. This guy just didn't want to be at work and had a problem with everyone. Finally dudes buddy come out of the bar and jumps on his hog, which was two feet from the fence and said door guy. After a few words were exchanged by the two, hog bro fires the thing up. I have no qualms on your choice of transportation but after a few minutes of hog bro revving his bike FULL BOAR at our backs I realized what was going on. This was clearly an act by request. I won't deny that I wasn't well lubed with libation. So I less than calmly yelled at hog boy to fuck off already. But he was acting under instruction. It was clear from the door guys reaction. Being fed up with the whole thing I went ahead and got myself kicked out. I won't be spending my money to be insulted by this guy. Let us all know when its safe to come back. read more

I used to love this place, but after time the wood panels have lost their luster. Don't get me wrong, it's still a fun place to go for good conversation and a really great mix of music and people. However, their service and business practices are sketchy. Just a word of advice, bring cash. Seriously. There is a trend of "mystery drinks" that show up and you can never get an explanation. So, save yourself the trouble and bring cash. Otherwise, your tab could be twice as much. Don't believe me? Try it with a friend. Order the same drinks and one pay with cash and the other card. For weeks my wife had her heart dead set on double wide dolly night. We went, door guy was super cool. My wife was standing at the front of the crowd for the Dolly tribute. I literally got pushed by my face by some big dude. He said to me " just cause you say sorry and thank you mean nothing.""" That's not the bars fault at all. Then my wife and I are standing waiting to order. The guys ahead of us didn't have enough money to pay for their drinks. I was happy to see a bar doing something cool. So I tried to pay for the guys ahead of me. The bartender threw their drinks on the ground and lost his shit. Still I wanted to take the burden off him and pay for the strangers drinks. He still was super mad at them. " I get it!!! 20 years behind a bar. " it was busy and he had a lot on his plate. So me being me I went to throw a $100.00 in his tip jar. My wife caught my hand in the middle of it all and said nope. $10.00 is to much. At this point the bartender. "That we'd never ever spoke to" lost his shit on us. Immediately called my wife a "cunt"and a "bitch" jumped on top of the bar. Pushing my wife by her face. To get out!!! Yes at that point my wife maybe said some things out of anger. We were escorted out and shamed by the staff. We were only trying to make sure the staff was takin care of. Until it got to that point. We understand the staff deals with a lot all the time. The way it was delt with was so uncool. Rather than jumping to conclusions. Maybe talk to someone. You'd get better results. After all I was simply trying to pay a strangers tab. To make easy for your staff. I don't have a lot at all. A palm to my wife's face was uncalled for. read more

We had a blast here! We were in town for a business conference and came across the Double Wide. At first we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into, but once inside it was very eclectic and cool.
