One of the Doughboys Donuts van

We dropped by Doughboys Donuts to pick up some sweet treats; when we arrived at the shoppe, they were devoid of customers but as soon as we stood at the counter to make our selections, an influx of customers walked through the door. They had several varieties that f donuts to choose from but didn't have a particular donut my sister wanted (the chocolate creme-filled one); so, we opted for half a dozen donuts. instead: 3 sugar donuts, 2 chocolate-glazed bars and an "Angel"-creme filled, chocolate-glazed donut. The service was courteous and efficient; my "Angel" creme donut was just alright. The donut tasted a little stale and there was barely any creme n the donut. Donuts shoppes use to filled the center of the donuts, this barely broke the surface of the donut. So, overall, our visit was pleasant enough but the donuts were just average.

9/14/25 FYI. My weekly half donut treat:)

Quality/Quantity - Wow, just realized it is time for an update. As you can tell from my pictures, we are loyal customers. We get our consistent weekly order, cut the donuts in half (so the kids do not get over sugared up. Yes, they can grab two halves, lol...). And this is when I get my weekly half donut treat, thank you. Trying to stay healthy. Known for your "Big Boy" donuts; too bad they are just way too big for me, LOL. Ambiance - Decent size location. Plenty of mall parking. Open 7 days a week. See my picture for hours. Service - Good, consistent. Delivery available. Price - Good. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1980 and your 3 locations here since 2009. Next time we are in Camarillo, CA, we will visit your Rolling Pin Donut location as well. Also, it is nice to hear about your family's history: your partners founded the business in 1980 in Hollywood, CA as a LA police officer. Just noticed on your website, each location is independently owned and operated? Are you a franchise now?

I've been visiting this Doughboys location since it first opened when I was just a young kid. This place is consistently serving up some of the best doughnuts in the Reno-Sparks area. This location is small with just a few tables, but the doughnuts are plentiful! Apple fritter and buttermilk bars from here are two of my faves. My kids like the large selection of classic sprinkle options. They also have a small selection of milk, juices and coffees. Very friendly people here plus a drive thru for the ultimate convenience! The prices are very reasonable as well, especially compared to many bakeries nowadays. With several locations in the area, you cannot go wrong with stopping into a Doughboys!

These folks are service oriented. Upon entering, I had a couple folks in line ahead of me. Two staffers stepped up to the counter to take orders from all three of us simultaneously. I didn't see a chocolate cruller in the display case and asked...two left! The place is clean and decorated for Christmas to include window paintings. The crullers are thoroughly cooked, have that eggy flavored dough, and the icing was not completely dry- still somewhat liquid under the top glaze. Had a decent chocolate flavor. I would come back. Price was reasonable at ~$3.70 for the two.

Always a pleasure! We love us some donuts once in a while! The staff is always so welcoming. I recall once we ended up picking up a dozen, and came home to find out the donuts were all wrong. Called and spoke to a woman, she made up a new box and had it ready with no charge as soon as we arrived. Sooo kind! So delish!

    Overcharged for interrupting employee break-time.

Rude service every single visit. From employees treating new arrivals at the drive-thru before any counter service, to employees chatting with each other instead of serving customers, to flat out wrong orders, this place is staffed by some of the rudest people I've ever encountered. Nobody wants to cashier here. I tip 30% routinely on my bi-weekly visits and these folks are still pissed off every time I go in there. The doughnuts are standard fare - nothing exceptional over the worst donut you've ever had, nor do they stand out from the best donut you've ever had. The parking lot is rather unfortunately situated so the drive through spills-out into a turn late right in front of a stop sign, so traffic jams are to be expected in the morning, and the few high tables in the shop are definitely indicative they don't want loiterers. Of my few experiences shopping here - Absolutely ignored by staff to continue their own conversation (today's visit) - only person in line, waiting, and two of them are looking at me but continuing to talk to each other rather than engage with me. Charged me for 4 donuts (when I only purchased 3) as a penalty for interrupting their mid-morning break, I guess? Had someone walk away from the counter on me to help prepare a meal in the back, leaving FOH for drive-through work with an extensive line and customers buying multiple dozens of donuts. Employee threw the bag of donuts on the counter and walked away from the register without another word after ringing the donuts in. Should have just walked out with the bag full of broken donut bits! Why beg for tips if you're gunna be shitheads to your customers anyway? Disgruntled Donut Dispensary.

The BEST breakfast sandwich in South Reno! The staff are always friendly and seem to know most of the customers as regulars. This is an "everything" breakfast sandwich on a croissant. Egg, sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar & Swiss cheese (add jalapeños) Always Delicious!

Thank you Doughboys for another great birthday surprise for my donut-loving son! You know how to kick start my mornings and boost our family's special occasions!

This has been my go to local donut shop for years that they even were a part of our dessert wall for my wedding! It's great for early mornings like before or after the great reno balloon races or to bring to dinner parties. Their donuts have always been a favorite of mine. They have many different kinds, but mine is a raised maple bar. The dough is so light and airy. They also have pastries too! I love the jalapeno cheddar croissant warmed! I like this location as it has drive through which is convenient. Most of the time it is available but sometimes there is a cone blocking the way meaning that the drive through is closed, which I've only encounter that twice. I've never had an issue ordering, service is quick and the everyone are always happy to help!

I used the drive up because I was in a hurry this morning and I started to select certain donuts and then she asked me if she wanted me to pre-select or if she wanted her to select them so I got a few that I wanted and then she selected the rest. She selected a glazed donut, a jelly donut, and a cinnamon roll and a bar. Probably not the things I would've definitely picked I would not have picked those. They're a little on the pricey side for a glazed donut. Not the best place for donuts in town, but they are decent.

The Minced Pork Dumplings, however, were not for us. I believe the flavor of the Chinese leek may have been what turned us off. As for the Napoleon, it wasn't very sweet or particularly flavorful, and it made quite a mess to eat. Not something I'd reorder. The Sui Mai was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. Then I saw it... the sign read "Sausage, Jalapeno and Cheese kolache." Ooooh goodness gracious, it was the biggest kolache I'd ever seen. And Id never seen one in Reno or Sparks. They do grow things bigger in TX. I know cuz I lived in Deep East TX. But this is Sparks, NV, and I want to try this. I've eaten a kolache or 2 or 500 in my day. We ordered the Dust Storm: a vanilla milkshake with chocolate bits, topped with a giant blondie skewered dramatically on top, plus whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. Honestly, the presentation was on point and exactly the kind of milkshake kids dream about. Which is why we ordered it. My tween declared it "the best milkshake I've ever seen in my life," and honestly, that alone made it worth the stop on our mother-daughter trip. Taste-wise, it leaned very sweet for me and didn't have a ton of flavor depth beyond sugar overload. But clearly the goal here is maximal fun and aesthetic, and they absolutely nailed that. The ice cream was very good, especially the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Very unique flavor and great texture. The blondie was a bit of a letdown. First, the blondie was not "sizzling". It wasn't even really warm. Only placed in a waffle iron for a few seconds. Second, it seemed very dry and crumbly, maybe even overbaked. I thought the ideas at Black Rock are fun, and I think trying one of their milkshakes should be my next visit. However, there are a lot of great ice cream spots in Reno.
