Was bike packing through town and staying at a nearby hotel for a recovery day. Craving a pizza and walked over to the place for lunch. Cute little pizza joint with a sports bar vibe to it. Had just opened and only one large party was there besides me at the bar. Decided to just get a pie to go and head back to the hotel to relax and recover more. Service was attentive and courteous! Got their house combo in a 10". $18 plus a small to-go tip...so $20 out the door. Thought that was kinda high for a 10"...maybe a 12" would have been better. BUT... I'm not sure the last time I've had a pizza loaded this much with toppings! I'm sure that little 10" weighed in at about 10lbs it was so packed! The pizza was definitely one of the better pizzas I've had in a spell, and I'm not just saying that because I had been living off of dehydrated camp food for several days prior! I spent over 20 years working in the food industry and specifically at pizza joints...Doughboys is legit! Definitely wouldn't think twice grabbing a pie from them again - if I'm every back in the area! Good selection of beers on tap too! I actually stumbled upon Doughboys Pizzatopia by accident while trying to take a break from some brutal I-5 rush hour traffic. It is super easy to get to right off the highway, making it the perfect spot to pull off and wait out the traffic. The vibe inside is casual and welcoming. I had the pleasure of chatting with one of the owners, Matt, and his friendly, down-to-earth energy is definitely reflected throughout the whole place. They have a really solid selection of beers on tap, and I sampled a few different ones during my visit. They also have a seasonal cider that paired great with their fresh and crisp Caesar salad. I kept it simple with a cheese pizza, which was excellent, though I noticed they offer a ton of different toppings if you want to build something custom. If you are stuck in Portland traffic or just looking for a relaxed spot for a good meal and a drink, I highly recommend checking them out. Doughboys is generally pretty good! The location is convenient given its near residential properties and within walking distance to them. Their staff is nice and attentive to those who walk in. The few times I have been there, the place has been primarily empty, lacking any customers. They have a nice bar with seating as well as a wide variety of other indoor/outdoor seating. Their pizza's are nice, especially if you're looking for a personal pizza. I'd like to see some sort of events held here to attract more guest(s). read more

Walked in. Try to get a table got ignored by the hostess for a while so we sat down at the bar where there was a bartender engrossed in a conversation with two people who are leaving. They left in the bartender put some cash in the register walked past us and left. A different bartender gave us a couple of menus but no water and didn't take a drink order. So we sat there for a while and watched two or three different bartenders ignore us screwing around with dirty glasses and moving things around but nobody actually asked us if we wanted anything. I would think they would try to make it better for us in some way instead of us having to waste gas and time on their mistake. Also I was told the Poutine Fries were awful. Okay so long story short this was a road trip spot for our World Cup drive and we saw this place along our routes, was excited to try this spot looked promising but my experience was crap service with horrible bartending like-how do you completely water down a Long Island iced tea? Me and my group of 3 friends (2 guys 1 girl) all asked for new drinks and idk the bartender kept giving us an attitude when we needed something, we also ordered wings and they were decent but again whenever we needed stuff we kept getting snubbed, but this bartender however Kept talking to the better dressed folk on the other side of the bar and took care of them way better compared to me and my group on the right side.The difference in how we were treated was just blatant and to a point of disrespect, maybe we weren't dressed good enough for her to give us her best? Maybe it was something else in difference related? Not sure lol but seriously ruined the whole experiences for us and the whole thing felt completely off Anyways best thing they got is ranch. What a great find here in Portland while we were enjoying a softball tournament!! We ordered the Cheesy Breadsticks to start which were phenomenal. For our dinner we decided on Pizza. We ordered the Meat Combo pizza and the Hawaiian Combo pizza. Both were outstanding. I loved to nice and sturdy crust, and the fresh ingredients. The pineapple and mango were real and super fresh. Great Pizza. It was right next to our hotel so we gave it a try and it was absolutely wonderful. The toppings were fresh and tasty and generous, so many other locations are not generous. I love a cripy crust that is not mushy and this was wonderful the first time, and again the next day. I highly recommend them, I hope they bring a branch down to Eugene. read more

As my family walked in we weren't greeted by anybody. We stood there looking around. Finally another customer told us to take a seat and someone will bring us the menus. We took a seat at the only clean table there was and waited for the waitress to notice us. Once she did, she brought us waters and menus, and then it took her a while to come back to take our order. Once our order was taken the pizza didn't take too long to come to our table. The pizza is very mediocre. Definitely not worth the price. Hear so many great things about this joint, but pretty disappointing. Maybe we went with the wrong pizza, having tried the Hawaiian. A lot of toppings but lacking any real flavor. The worst part was how inconsistent the cook on the pie was. The crust was great and slightly overdone but all the toppings were undercooked. Warmed meats and fruits...yikes. Service, on April 5th at 3:49pm we ordered two large pizzas. Angela, as noted in the ticket, was clearly a grump. Short one word answers, never a smile, she stormed around. Based on the wait for the pizzas, 5 minutes later I ordered 8 wings. Pizzas come up and I asked approximately how long for the wings. Angela asked the Chef, he said what wings, check the tickets and there they were. I elected to cancel the order of wings which clearly put Angela over the edge. In short, my bill was initially $92.50. I can spend my money elsewhere and not be subjected to her poor attitude. Only one waitress working for the whole place, which led to slow service. Also the soda mix is off and not drinkable. Told the server and she just brought me another soda which was also bad. I've previously posted on Google about this fine pizzeria, but after seeing their other yelp reviews, I didn't feel it was fair and decided I needed to give another opinion on here. I've tried now practically every pizza on their menu, and I have to say they are up there with some of the best pizza places in Portland. Why others have complained about their vegetable toppings being cold on a vegetarian pizza...I would say this is actually a benefit of their pizza. So many pizzas I've had with vegetable toppings that were cooked, mushy and made the pizza soggy. And full sliced tomatoes on the pizza for the win! As far as the crust goes, I also have to push back on that. They have a very fine and tasty crust that actually gets out of the way and is more of a delivery system for the wonderful toppings that they put on the pizza which is really what a good pizza should do. Since their toppings are basically edge to edge the real star of the show is the delicious pizza on top of the crust and the sauce. They really are a very tasty pizza place. If you haven't tried it, I think you should. I think you'll like it I certainly do. It's always my go to pizza place now. And as a big fat guy...whose eaten A LOT of pizza around town...I know a thing or two about good food. read more

So, in PDX for work, and this was...well, the most convenient to work and hotel. Honestly, it was pretty damn good. Granted the appetizers we had were obviously freezer-to-fryer. But, sometimes that's exactly what you want with pizza. And that was the highlight. I'm a pizza fanatic. Could eat it 7 days a week. This made it into my top 10.
