Went in for a last minute smog-check yesterday. Called about an hour prior to dropping by to get an estimate; they were definitely the best price around. I called 3 other highly Yelped spots for quotes and the prices varied from $50 - $71 for my compact car. These guys initially gave me a quote for $45 and I realized I had forgotten to mention their Yelp special after hanging up. When I got there, there was a person before me and I only had to wait about 10-15 minutes. I mentioned their Yelp special and that was that - got the deal. They finished my smog-check in 10 minutes I think! Maybe it was longer, but it just seemed pretty quick. The guy (Ramon) was friendly, professional and efficient. The place was a little hard to find (I forgot about their blurb saying they were in the same driveway with Quality Tune-ups & Smog-Checks which is right behind Kragen at the Dublin/Dougherty intersection) so I passed it the first time. It's at the very end of Quality's driveway and I can see why another person mentioned the small space, but there's about 4-5 parking spots to wait in and perfect enough for people to be in and out in a jiffy. Personally, it's well worth going to. I mentioned the place to my dad (he had gone to the $71 place) and he expressed interest in coming here for his next smog-check. My bro was with me and he had gone to the place my dad went and he says this place is pretty clean in comparison (if this detail is important to ya). Recommendations for doing business with Discount Smog Check. 1. Don't believe that just because you called and were quoted $25.95 Plus $8.25 for the certificate that this is what you will pay. 2. When asked "Did you call or are you just dropping in?" Be sure to let them know you called in and were quoted $25.95 Plus $8.25 for the certificate. If you say "just dropping in" expect to have them swipe your credit card for the amount on the board that is $89.90 plus $8.25 for the certificate. 3. When they hand you the blank form to fill out they will say name address and signature. Be certain that the estimate amount is there prior to signing because if it's not they will fill it out with the higher amount and not what you were quoted. 4. Prior to handing over your credit card ask what the amount due is and ask to see the invoice. 5. Review all of your documents prior to paying and leaving. You will find the credit card receipt does not require a signature and will not be located on top of the stapled documents. It will be hidden in the middle for discovery later. 6. If for some reason you find that you were overcharged and the business refuses to adjust the amount or credit you back, file a dispute with your credit card company and the Bureau of Automotive Repair https://www.dca.ca.gov/webapps/bar/complaints.php 7. After signing the properly filled in estimate ask for a copy of it for review while you wait for your car. This is a two part invoice and just like at oil change places they should give you a signed estimate prior to doing the work. ---------------------------------------- (The written estimate must contain a description of the specific job, the estimated price for parts and labor, and the vehicle's odometer reading. Was told $25.95 plus certificate and to just come in. I arrived Thursday A.M. for smog. Was asked did I call or am I just dropping in. I did not reply that I had called. (I said I was at lunch thinking he asked am I dropping the car off and I wasnt) Car was smogged quickly and I was asked for credit card. I provided this and was given my paperwork and I left. After leaving I looked at the receipt and noticed I was not charged what I was quoted and was charged a higher amount. I returned to the shop to ask about this. I was told I answered "Dropping in" so I was charged the higher amount. What should it matter if I call in advance or not? If a customer is told the price to do a smog check is $25.95 plus certificate then I would expect that to be the global price walk in or phoned ahead. I also mentioned the estimate form was blank when given to me to fill out and sign. He told me the Smog Inspection amount is always there. (Though when looking at the forms behind the counter and on form another customer was filling out this is not true.) I was told in a loud angry voice I was not getting any refund and to leave. I left telling him I would dispute this with my credit card company then. I went to my car and called my credit card company to dispute the charge. While I was sitting there speaking with the bank the same person came out to my car and said to come inside and he would take care of it. In the end I was charge $98.20 and refunded $56.95. While I was made whole on this by them I still won't ever do business with them again. Buyer Beware. read more

DO NOT GO to this business, they have the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. Yes they are one of the quickest and cheapest around, but that does not negate the HORRIBLE AND INCREDIBLY RUDE service I received there tonight. I never write yelp reviews, but the service I received here tonight was so INCREDIBLY BAD that I just had to write one just to warn others. I don't care that they do service for the Army Camp Parks, or any other places. The INCREDIBLY BAD service I received does not outweigh any other positives that others may have experienced here. There were two guys in the shop who completed the smog check. The name on the smog certificate indicated that it was performed by a Matthew Cortez. I don't know if this is the name of the employee who serviced me or if it was the other employee. In any case, the employee who helped me has no business working at an establishment where he is to serve customers. He clearly does not understand an ounce of what customer service is about, and it is most definitely not his priority. As soon as I arrived, it was clear that the employee had no interest in giving me any customer service but was rather focused on closing up shop and leaving as soon as possible even though I arrived 20 minutes prior to closing. I felt rushed through the entire time that I was there, as if I was an inconvenience to him. I had printed two coupons from the internet, one for $22.95 and another for $23.95 which I put down temporarily on the counter while waiting for the smog check to be completed. The smog check was done quickly and that portion of the service was fine. Until it came to payment, it went from bad to WORSE. I asked how much the total was, and he told me it was $36.20 when the coupon indicated that the total was $22.95 + $8.25 for the DMV certificate. This does not total $36.20. No where on the coupon or any signage in the store indicate that there were any other fees, but when I asked what the additional amount was for, he said it was for a DMV fee. I felt like this was somewhat like false advertising as he did not indicate any of this up front, nor was it on the coupon, or on any signage within the business. He then swiped both coupons from the counter before I could say anything else, and asked for payment. I handed over my card, and he gave me the invoice. I then noticed that the bill came to $23.95 and not $22.95 for the smog check portion. When I asked about it, he told me very rudely that the coupon I gave him was for $23.95. I told him that there were two coupons, and that there was one for $22.95 and that he had taken both coupons. I told him that it was just $1 so that I was not going to quibble about it, and that it wasn't a big deal, but I did want to mention it since I did bring a coupon for the lower amount. He then retrieved the two coupons, and saw that I did indeed have a coupon for the smaller amount at $22.95. Instead of owning up to his mistake, and apologizing for his error, which I was not going to even make him correct, he become even more rude, and actually had the gall to raise his voice at me, give me a nasty look, and then proceeded to personally attack me by telling me that I was RUDE and that I was out of line. He then very rudely said that I would have to come back the next day for the refund. Even though I had already told him that it wasn't a big deal, and that I wasn't going to come back for $1. All I wanted to d was let him know that I did have a coupon for the $22.95 so he was aware of that. I was so taken aback by this horrible service, that it took me by surprise and shook me up a bit. I have never experienced such NEGATIVE service before. I didn't even want a refund and he had the nerve to personally attack me??? Here I had just paid good money for what should have great service, yet I was the one being attacked for trying to tell him that I had brought a different coupon. I didn't even want a refund, yet he refused to hear what I had to say and then personally attacked me by saying that I was such a rude person and that I had no business saying that to him. As much as I wanted to give him a piece of my mind right then and there, I decided that someone that rude and horrible was not worth a second more of my time, so I just took the papers and walked out of there. The time was 4:55 p.m. when I got in my car, 5 minutes before closing, and I could see him slamming the garage door down, and rushing to close down and get out of there. I had barely gotten into my car, and it was clear that he couldn't wait to get out of there. Based on this incident tonight, you bet I will NEVER go back here ever again. Went here the other day for DMV registration renewal. Paid $40, passed everything but the gas cap test. Never had a problem with the gas cap until I brought my vehicle here. Rep asked if I wanted to buy one from him for $30+ bucks for a cap worth less than $10. I refused so he threatened with a re-test fee. I stood my ground and asked for my keys and was told he wasn't done. Upon inspecting the cap, it appeared to have been tampered with. I drive an '05 Durango so it is equipped with OBDII computer and the day after visiting this place, my gas cap sensor went off. Coincidence? The rep was going to charge me 30 bucks for the re-test since I didn't buy his gas cap. Last time I attempt business with a Raider fan. Sketch for a "test-only" site. Buyer beware.
