Smog check places are a dime a dozen so I will definitely not be taking my car back here. The process was quick and convenient, but the customer service is where they fail. 1) Like some of the other reviewers, they will not take a coupon from your phone. It's pretty commonplace these days to accept a coupon via SmartPhone now. He said that the coupon specifically says to print it. I have looked at the website again and I do not see anywhere where the coupon says it must be printed via hard copy! He said he absolutely could not give me a discount without a printed coupon. He had an extra coupon laying around that was not as discounted so I just ended paying extra instead of having to go home and print the coupon and return. 2) I commented that the price was much higher than I have paid at other facilities. He asked which city and I said Mountain View, which he then told me was ghetto. I'm not saying Mountain View is Atherton. But the land of Google is definitely NOT ghetto. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so I won't fault him for this. But, seriously? You think smog stations in Mtn View charge less because the city is more ghetto than Dublin? 3) they charge extra if you use credit card. This is AGAINST THE LAW. California State Law is that you can offer a discount for cash. But you cannot charge extra for using a credit card. There are at least 3 other smog check places within a mile of this one. Customer service here is terrible. I came in for a smog check with a coupon. Apparently I had the coupon to the wrong place but he didn't explain it to me very well. I just wanted clarification and he seemed so ridiculously pissed off that he had to repeat himself 3 times. Really? CAUTION!!! Unless you present your coupon before they take the keys they will charge you with a 90$ service fee instead of the 30$ on the coupon. According to the attendant they cant change it unless it is presented before. I have never paid 90$ for a smog check. He told me the coupon explicitly said to present at time of service and not after. I presented the coupon on my phone at time of payment which I would consider time of service. He then told me the coupon on my phone was invalid and that I needed to print it out even though it said smart phone OK. I am publishing this on Yelp because I came here because of Yelp and didn't see a review like this. Please read this and be forewarned. In the end, the attendant called the owner and they were able to credit it back to my card so that is why I am giving them a 2 star instead of 1 star. read more

Dishonest and incredibly rude I am more a Yelp viewer than reviewer. Yet my experience today compels me to write. I'm well into my 50's and cannot recall a more negative experience as a customer. Ever. I came in at 11:00 as a walk in (they take no appointments). I asked how quick they would be. The owner's brusque response: "As quick as anyone else," a non answer which I took to mean "You'll wait as long as everyone else does." Oh well. Their website advertises prominently "Lowest price guaranteed" and "We honor all local competitor's coupons. I presented a coupon from a competitor in Pleasanton, 3 miles away. He told me "they're not in Dublin, so we don't honor that." I asked how they would not be considered a local competitor, being so close, to which he became abrasive, reiterating, they're not in Dublin. I again questioned that policy. At that point, he ignored me, and addressed another customer. Stunned, I said that we had not finished, at which point he accused me of rudeness and not wanting to deal with me or my business. Read the other Yelp reviews. He will find any reason not to take a competitor coupon, despite the prominent advertising. The Dublin reason was a sham, as was his refusal in another review to take one from a shop 100 feet away. Read also the recurring pattern of anger and rudeness. The Smog business is not rocket science. They plug in a machine and it says pass or not pass. Almost all recent vehicles pass. So without any questions, people are happy, which might explain the overall rating this shop has. But, if you have any questions, any challenges, any concerns, expect to be attacked. This is classic abuser behavior - it's the abuser who's has been wronged - not the abused. I have never felt more abused as a customer. For the sake of the owner, I hope he gains some sense of customer sensitivity. For the sake of the customer, I hope you have no questions, concerns, or issues. Otherwise, be forewarned. read more

This is the second time I've been at this place for Test-Only Smog Check. The first time was with a 1997 car. This time I came with a 1995 car. I arrived around 4:10 PM on a Monday with no appointment and with a $30 coupon from yelp. The guy behind the counter told me that my 1995 car also need an EVAP test. He showed me the overall cost which is very close to the last smog check I had at a different station and took $30 off using the coupon. Had to wait for them to finish a car ahead of mine for less than five minutes then they rolled mine in. I saw them opened the hood and inserted a coiled probe in the exhaust of the car ... did a 15 mph and 25 mph test ... next they used the EVAP machine ... later on I saw their computer monitor say TEST COMPLETED. They rolled out my car and were ready for their next customer. My car passed the test. I paid the bill and was out there around 4:30 PM. Just like how I remembered the first time I was there ... the whole process is quick. read more

Ok, so it was my turn this morning to get a Smog for my family van. I went to Perfect Smog on Goldengate ct. So perfect that they did not open on time. Their hours is 9:00am to 6:00 pm M-F I got there at 9:07am they were late, so I went to Discount Smog Check Center. It took me awhile to find them, but I got there anyway. There were two cars ahead of me, so I waited. I thought to myself, I am gonna be late for work. But no!, the two Techs were like busy bee, they were FAST and PRO. My time total was around 30mins. I think, this is a decent SMOG test center. Owner interaction with customers could be better. My need was very specific - getting the SMOG test done and he did the job. This is somewhat cost effective compared to few other outlets in Dublin. I am not sure if it is because I am a first timer or if it is his usual price. All in all, I think I won't hesitate to visit this place again. read more

Without a doubt this is "the place" to go to get in, get out, and get on when you need to complete the dreadful "Smog Certification" requirement for your DMV registration. I was in and out in less then 15 minutes and the price is awesome ($39.95 including taxes when mentioning Yelp). By far the least painful smog that I've ever had to get. Great experience! Arrived around 10:30am on a Thursday. They took my car immediately and it passed and was back in my hands in less than 10 minutes! I had an out of state car and needed a smog cert to get California tags. Coupon on website brought the total for an SUV to $42 (rounded down from $42.20). $23.95 plus $10 for SUV plus $8.25 for certificate. The guy there was professional and polite. I called to ask if they accept competitor's coupon even if the business wasn't in Dublin. They said "yeah, come on in." I felt a bit weary based on other reviewers saying that they had called ahead of time to ask about coupons and were denied once they got there. I should've went with my gut. So I go during my lunch break and show the guy at the counter the coupon. He rudely says "we don't accept this." I say that I called earlier and asked about it and he said it wasn't him on the phone. I'm sure it was him because I recognized his voice and I had only called 30 mins. earlier. He very rudely said I can go to the compeitor's place then. So I left and sat in my car to call another business that was very friendly and accepted my coupon without any issue (see my other reviews for this business). But as I sat in my car, I was afraid he was going to come out and start yelling at me to GTFO his lot. He didn't but that's how rudely he acted toward me when I was inside. This place must have changed their policy! I went in there with a coupon for $24.95 + $8.25 CA State Certificate. They told me they don't honor the coupon because it's not 2001 or older car. Customer service needs improvement, but let's face it. We're at a smog shop NOT Nordstrom, so expectations can't be high in the first place. If one understands that what the expectations are: you go in, give worker keys and paperwork, they stick a pipe in your car, rev your engine, you wait in waiting room, they come back with results, you pay and leave, it's fine. Sure, it would be nice to have service with a smile, but out of the 15 minutes being there, you only talk to them for a minute or two anyway. read more

I highly recommend going here for a smog check. My first time going through the smog process and a lil confused but Joe the service technician helped me out so much and was nice and helpful. He gave me a super deal and I dropped my car off and was off to lunch..
