Took my 4Runner in for a smog last September and these guys were amazing. In and out within 10 minutes and the price was about 1/2 off the old place I used to take it in. Great experience! Arrived around 10:30am on a Thursday. They took my car immediately and it passed and was back in my hands in less than 10 minutes! I had an out of state car and needed a smog cert to get California tags. Coupon on website brought the total for an SUV to $42 (rounded down from $42.20). $23.95 plus $10 for SUV plus $8.25 for certificate. The guy there was professional and polite. Must pay in cash though so hit an ATM first if you need to. If for some reason you find them on a busy day with a wait, Denica's is directly across the street and has amazing breakfast and lunch food so just wander over there! Discount Smog Check Center will accept competitor coupons but only competitors in Dublin. They do not consider Pleasanton smog places to be competitors. Wasn't going to drive to Pleasanton and risk a wait for $7 savings though. This place is the very last bay on the side of the building. Pretty straight forward and fast. In reading previous reviews they suggest calling ahead and getting a quote. Definitely call ahead and get a quote. My 1999 Ranger was more but their overall fees including the certificate was cheaper than everyone else. I will be taking all my vehicles here in the future. read more

Realized the nite before my DMV appointment that I needed a smog test for my used-car purchase in order to swap ownership on the title and registration. Hustled and found Discount Smog Check Center with raving reviews and they open at 8am which was great. Arrived at 8:30am and was done in 10mins, granted there wasn't a line in front of me. The folks are just no nonsense and courteous and they honored a coupon which I printed from their website. Went in and had the smog check completed within 10 minutes and final price (including certificate) was $40 cash. I noticed a pricing sheet they have in the office that shows the cost varying based on the year/type of car. For those having concerns about the cost/wait time, recommend calling in for an estimate BEFORE you go in. Unbelievable that this place is still in business. I went in for a smog check, and while they got me in right away, I was charged $90 for a smog check!!! I have been to Quality Tune up next door and got a smog check for $35 - $40. As mentioned by previous posts, the personnel were grumpy at best. I felt as though the guy "helping" me (actually just taking my money) would have preferred that I not interrupt him. I happened to mention my experience in line at a grocery store, and there were 2 others that had the same experience. There is no conceivable reason to charge $90 for a smog check at any time. Not sure how or why ANYONE would write a good review about the place. In addition to price gouging and poor customer service, they are at the end of an alley with just a few parking spots. When asked why we were charged more, he said that is the price! We had a check engine light come n and failed to pass emissions. Had to bring it into the Dealership twice. Just moved to Dublin and had to get the smog check done for my car registration renewal. I was looking for a reasonably priced and a good smog check station. Through yelp I come cross Discount Smog Check Center at Dublin and due to good reviews and the experience people had at this place, I thought of giving a shot. I contacted the smog station last evening for a morning appointment. They said they will open at 8.30AM. Reached at 8.45AM and met Joe, technician. Joe was very quick to get the work done and within 25 min I was out of the station. Though this place is very small, you will get the work done for a reasonable price. Be careful. Don't be scammed as I was. I have been to this place before and it was ok. So when I needed to sell my car, I found their coupon for $24.95 + $8.25 cert. fee for smog check and called to confirm the price. When I got there, the person took the coupon and scribbled on the estimation paperwork for three entries: $24.95; $8.25; and a $3.75 (or something) that could hardly be read. I asked what were all the fees and why it was more than the $24.95 + 8.25 = $33.2 price given on the coupon. The guy said the $3.75 fee was for DMV which I have never heard about. Reluctantly I agreed and paid for the test. When I went back home and looked online, there isn't anything about extra fee the DMV collect for smog test beyond the certificate fee which is clearly listed on the coupon. I think the person just scammed me for a nice profit. Be careful, not to be taken advantage of! read more

They charged me 34.95 before they started on my car and once the smog was done he gave me the receipt and the certificate. But the certificate was not printed properly. when I showed him, he said his printer needs replacement and wanted me to check back a week later for the certificate if I wanted a nicely printed one.when I told him I am selling my car and the buyer might not buy without a proper smog certificate.he said he does not care, and when I asked him to refund he told me to GET OUT OF HIS SHOP!!!
