Was very disappointed when I brought my son's SUV in based on a friends recommendation. The vehicle needed a new transmission. So okay, I tell them to look the car over and see if there is anything else that needs to be addressed since it has to last a few more years. I get charged 4500.00 for the replacement and nothing else was mentioned so we leave the shop. A few weeks later my son's car stops on the highway with a transmission leak. Now they charge me close to $800 to replace the transmission cooler lines. Wouldn't that have been something to check when you had it the first time? Other auto techs I have talked to recently said that should have been covered or at least addressed the first time. So now I have a $300 towing expense plus the $800 for the cooler lines. And this is a known problem. Should have went to the dealer. The overall price would have been the same. I was so hoping for someone I could depend on. And I am not one to write these reviews but felt compelled to take the time on this one. read more

Doug is the most honest person I've dealt with in the automobile repair business. The repair shop doesn't resemble most--clean, organized, and efficiently run. I have told many people about Doug and it has come full circle in that someone around Naperville, without even asking, asked if I had a good mechanic to go to. These guys should not be repairing cars. Terrible. Every time we took our car here, we had to take it back because it wasn't fixed right. I even had to tow it back once. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have any ASE certified mechanics working here. They use cheap, low quality parts and mark up the difference. So the repairs dont last. They will screw up more on your car than they fix. I guarantee it. I don't care if they're honest, they're incompetent. read more

My wife and I have been bringing our cars to Douglas since 2008. We have had everything from oil changes to brake jobs done by them. Each and every time, Douglas has provided us options for our repair which I can honestly say is rare in the auto repair business. The best experience I have had with Douglas was based on a time that I had no option but to use another shop. The alternator in my wife's car went out when we were in the process of moving and were no where near Douglas. We had to take it to a local shop who fixed it. A year later the alternator went out again. I called the shop that performed the repair only to find that they were unwilling to help or stand by their work. I called Douglas who said, "bring the car in, we will work with the part manufacturer to make this right." Douglas has provided nothing but excellent service. My wife and I live twice as far from their shop now but we still take our cars to them for even the simple oil changes.
