About a week ago, my baby snapped the arm off my glasses and I was told about Douglas by my partner. Barry quoted me a price of 20$ and 5 minutes for repair. My glasses were quickly repaired and fit perfectly. I was happy, little did I know Douglas optical would soon by my only hope! Just yesterday I found out my 1 year old son needs glasses. I called SEVERAL optical stores in the surrounding area that took my insurance but NONE OF THEM carried flexi toddler glasses. Most of them were not even equipped to deal with patients under 5 years old. After a day and a half of calling around and getting the run around. I walked into Douglas Optical hoping that at the very least Barry could point me in the right direction. Not only did Barry have the exact flexi frames that we needed he FILLED OUR PRESCRIPTION ON THE SPOT!!! From no glasses to baby glasses in 10 minutes, y'all. No joke! Barry is knowledgeable and works quickly. Exactly the type of proprietor you expect to meet in a small mom and pop shop. Customer service is tops at Douglas Optical. I came here with a pair of broken glasses that I purchased elsewhere. I chose this location because it appeared to be a mom-and-pop shop, which I always prefer supporting. The owner, wife, and daughter were in the shop, and they were friendly and helpful! The owner expressed that my glasses were tricker to fix because it was not an easy fix like a screw, but the temple pieces broke off the frame. But he could fix it, so I did not need a new frame! Went in to see if my glasses could be repaired because the glasses detached from the frame. Walked in and before I could even explain the detachment, it was an automatic, "no". Fabulous service! Great prices! I dragged my feet on filling a prescription because it hadn't changed too much. But when confronted with having to take the DMV vision test, (tomorrow!!) I worried whether it had changed enough to affect my chances of passing. So thankful for Barry and Douglas Optical for solving my dilemma . Barry did not try to upsell me at all -he even told me I would probably pass with the old prescription. But his prices were so reasonable, and I needed reassurance so I ordered single vision glasses and sunglasses. In about 10 minutes, I had my glasses. Fit well, looked great. The sunglasses took a little longer-Barry had told me at the outset it would be about an hour. Lots of frames to choose from - some included, others not but still exceptionally reasonable. He calculated the correct prescription for that distance, and made me a set of glasses that did exactly what I wanted, and he did it while I waited (about half an hour). I'd gotten used to waiting 2-3 weeks for glasses to be made for me, it was great to get what I needed the same day (and at a much lower price than my optometrist's office charges), and Barry is friendly and pleasant to deal with. Shockingly misogynistic man. I went with my husband to get his glasses repaired. When we came in, although I talked to the man in the store, he only replied to my husband. He told us the glasses were broken. I said, "I think this part is bent?" He said, "Give me your hand." I held out my hand, thinking he was going to show me something. Instead, he lightly slapped it. A HIDDEN GEM! I accidentally broke my only pair of full-time-wear glasses. I searched all over to find a place where I could have my prescription lenses cut on site, which led me here to Douglas Optical every other place had a 7-10 wait. ‍ I walk in to see what felt like thousands of options around the store and was met with a warm greeting by the owner for over 30+ years, Barry. He was helpful, kind, charming and a master of his trade! After browsing frames, I selected one I liked and in less than 10mins, He had my (very strong ) prescription lenses cut and set in brand new frames ready to go. For about $80!!!! I went into Douglas Optical with hopes of getting my classes fixed. The gentleman who was working in the shop was very rude and agitated. I was asking him a question about how I could get my classes fixed and he began to get upset, there was obviously a language barrier. Super disappointed in this business. I took in my glasses for repair the arm detached from the glasses. They said the glasses were fixed and I could come get them. I came and tried them on and they immediately broke. The "repair" was done with glue, there was glue all over the frame and lense. The woman running the store was on the phone with someone and never even addressed the fact that the glasses weren't fixed and more damage occurred while in their possession. My daughter was in need of new glasses ASAP. She had broken hers and the turnaround time somewhere else was two weeks for a replacement. I had a pair of glasses that I really liked and the lenses were transition. My glasses were sat on and I was about six months away from my insurance covering a new pair. I went on eBay for only $35.00 and found the same frames and thought I would be able to put my old lenses in the new frames. Unfortunately, the new frames were slightly smaller than the original and the lenses would not fit. I went to several places and they all told me that they would not be able to do anything for me. I was eventually referred to Douglas Optical by Kaiser and I was not disappointed! Barry was incredibly nice and he was able to use his state of the art machine to laser measure the frames and cut the lenses to the exact size of the new frames... He even let me watch when he noticed my curiosity. I enjoyed Barry's company and stuck around to chat with him for a bit. All in all, Barry was able to do what no one else was, and he saved me over $600.00! He only charged me $25.00! You should really come in and see him! read more

Barry is the Best! I found Douglas Optical after visiting several optical shops, calling a bunch more and even searching online to fix my son's eyeglass frame. Nobody could fix the broken spring-hinge temple. Finally, I found Douglas Optical on Yelp and called him when he was about to close. He said to come by; he would stay open for me. He has a multitude of spare temples, in different sizes and colors, from which he searched and found the correct one for the frame. Within 30 minutes he had installed the replacement temple.
