Doug's is a full service shop, not just transmissions. Darren is really on top of checking things out and researched my daughter's Kia. It had blown engine but he followed a recall on it, talked to several dealerships and one who worked with him. She was able to get a whole new engine installed free. Darren also saved her on the diagnostic test at the dealership and only charged her an hour labor. I cannot say enough positive about this shop but ask for Darren, He's the man! read more

A honest and professional shop. I brought my truck into Doug's shop because I believed I was having an issue with my transmission. They test drove my truck and checked the fluid. They informed me that my transmission didn't have any problems and even offered advice on what my problem could be. Great group of guys. Stay away. This is a dishonest shop. New clutches don't go out after less than 10k miles. Old ones do, when the old clutch is left in place. I referred my Mom to this place. She was supposed to have her timing belt changed in a Honda accord. The dealership later showed her it was impossible to have been changed, as the OEM belt was still on and incredibly brittle. When they do use parts, they are the cheapest available. A new heater core shouldn't go bad in less than a year requiring a replacement. All of these jobs were billed well over $1000. I know we aren't the only people to have this happen to. Stay away if you want to keep your cars running and money in your pocket. read more

My wife's Yukon transmission went out. Every other shop had a wait tome to even look at it. Doug's was able to to take it in the next day and they replaced the transmission within a few days. They gave us two year 100k warranty and so far 40k miles added it's been running great. This was super convenient for us as it is my kids transportation to therapy and appointments. My beloved desert vehicle failed the State's vehicle admissions test and the state gives you this form and you are encouraged to take it to your mechanic for repairs. The state's computer reading of my vehicle showed that I had a missing cylinder that was not firing. Upon Doug's Transmission's assessment, they found that the issue was in completely a different cylinder and that my last mechanic failed to change the plugs and/or replaced them with the wrong plugs causing the coil packs to short out giving computer errors in the vehicle. The issue was resolved and we passed the smog admissions test with flying colors. My vehicle was repaired in several hours. Their services are great with me and they deliver in a timely manner. read more

I took my vehicle here early this month for what I assumed would be a massive overhaul to my transmission. I dropped my vehicle off after a quick test drive and they got back to me with an estimate the following afternoon. Overall I was very surprised with how quick the estimate and repairs went. It took about a day or two (closed on the weekend) to repair. The overhaul consisted of a master rebuild, a drive shaft replacement, and replacement of the yokes. The most important thing is I received a fast and honest quote. For the amount of work I had done I believe I paid a good price. The quickness of service was also a plus. Things to note: They (like normal people) eat lunch. The couple times I stopped in I waited around for them to get back. So Id show up before 11 and after 1230. Their work is warranted. This was a big deal for me. All my work is covered by a 2 year / 24k mile warranty. My repairs went fantastic but my engine light came back on so I may need to bring mine back. Either way i'm content with the work. Overall, I am satisfied. If you are looking for good honest transmission work in the east valley, Dougs is for you. read more

The service I got here was ok. They were very nice people and even gave me a ride home and picked me up but they missed a very important issue on my car that I am very glad Patriots caught. Also I felt the labor costs were a tad extreme. All in all I won't be going back here. read more

This place is sad for some reason I got lied to from these people . I take my car there to find out what the the noise is that was never making before. They check it out drove it to come back and say ur car is ok not a thing wrong. I knew there was something . So I took it to, two other places and they tell me it's a lifter which is pretty important control rod can do other things bad so why couldn't dogs auto and transmission tell me this is it cuz he's friends with my nephew whom they all don't care about me but don't take it out on my car by lying to me. 4is the rate I give. These fine fellas installed rear differential gears in my older mustang.There was a minor problem after a couple of months or so. I was impressed with this shop. The techs are very professional and know their business. I got a very fair price on a new transmission for my van. The shop manager Darren was very courteous and helpful. My car was fixed right the first time with no defects in instsllation or workmanship, It is a very busy shop and they could use a bigger building due to the growth of their business. The only improvement they could use is some outdoor shelving or racks to put parts on as they are removed and installed on the vehicle. while it is on the lift. I was a little worried because parts seemed to be everywhere when I went to look at my vehicle. People say it is one of Apache Junction's best transmission shops and I will have to agree. We went to Dougs Transmission this am because that seemed to have a lot of support. We arrived at just after 9am. Explained the situation and let them know this car was really needed to get to work. We dealt with Darren who was amazing. He looked at the car and was pretty sure he knew what it was. Called to check if the part was available, gave us an estimate and told us he would squeeze it in and have it ready by close. THREE hours later he called to tell us it was ready! 3 HOURS! Unbelievable customer service. He also gave us a heads up on something else we need done. He wasn't pushy, just wanted us to know. We were so impressed with him. Went to Dougs to have my air conditioner repaired less than a year ago. Air isn't blowing as cold as it should. Was informed that while still under warranty for time isn't still covered because over mileage for warranty? How absurd is that. I don't drive the air conditioner. Mileage shouldn't matter. I didn't use it all winter. First off the repair cost more than the original estimate but I felt like they would stand behind the job and I trusted them. Won't make that mistake again read more

Extremely Impressed ! ! Long Review but worth it ! I was in town from San Diego to visit my Girlfriend and catch some Spring Training Games. I had just bought a Used Truck (2004 Chevy1500) While driving out to Az. I felt the O.D. in the Transmission was not engaging, RPM's were running high on the freeway. Being a Retired State Mechanic & owning a small Custom Shop in San Diego, I'am the type that has Always done all my own work since I was 18. I found "Doug's " on the computer and went there Really expecting them to tell me my Transmission was gone. (Being an out of towner and all) When I arrived they came right out and immediately hooked their computer up and took me and the truck for a approx. 30 min ride to check everything, ( I will call him the "Computer Guy") well, he was Very open and up front of what was happening at every moment. We got back and he said Transmission was running good & Strong But, I did have a Miss in the Engine & MAS sensor wasn't pulling the proper amount of Air in. It is a custom lifted truck so, they suggested "Let's pull the Differential covers and see what Gears are in it" ( to see if it was upgraded) They offered to pull Diff covers to see what gears were in it and service. The (Gear Guy) pulled Diff covers, found the truck had custom Lower Gears in it, explaining the High RPM's but Tranny was great. These guy are Very Honest, Forthright, I was very impressed with them Not trying to sell me anything or falsely telling me things were wrong with my truck, so I let them have the work they found, Complete Tune-Up, Service Axles, Replace MAS sensor. The work was completed in a very timely manner, good quality, the biggest part was they Never tried to sell me anything I didn't need and the Quote matched the Final Bill and the Price was very good. (Better than Cali) While I was there, I sat back and watched how they deal with customers, Men & Women, They were always honest, spoke with respect (Not over anyones head) and professional. I returned to San Diego and took my truck into my shop and looked it over, they did everything they said and properly. I Highly Recommend Anyone one, Male or Female needing Automotive work to Experience the same treatment I did, you will leave happy and confident your money was spent well. My Girlfriend knowing Nothing about car's, I have recommended for her to go there for Any issues she may have, also any of my friends & customers that go to Az. with their toys to play, I have and will tell them to go to Doug's for any issues.
