I have often overlooked this place since the adjacent Dover Dairy Maid is the most visible from Rt 46. In fact, I went for the very first time today despite having ice cream over the years next door. From Rt 46, it seems there is no parking, however, they have a spacious private lot behind their building. Hot dogs, Texas wieners, hamburgers, fries with all the trimmings and in all different combinations are offered at very reasonable prices. The outside seems small yet, it is deceptive. Inside is clean, well organized and offers seating at their countertop which runs along the front and side windows of the building. Service was friendly and polite. The cooks on the grill were working hard and enjoying their work and it showed ! I tried one hot dog with kraut, mustard, and onions, a Texas wiener with their Texas sauce and a small order of fries. Everything was fresh, hot and nicely put together. Fries were crispy and hot as they were freshly made. The dogs were tasty and had a nice snap to them. The Texas sauce was well made, mild with plenty of finely ground beef. I think I prefer my hot dogs with mustard and kraut but, it was a nice change. On a mid October day, it was a nice bonus to be able to eat outside. The eating area was neat, clean and surprisingly peaceful. Hope I make it back before they shut down for the season. Greasy food glory! This place is a must for your cheat days. Cute interior with checkered floors and bar stools. They have special combinations for their hot dogs and burgers. Seems like their specialities are their Chilli and Texas sauces. We ordered 3 different hot dogs (relish, chilli, and Texas sauce), a birch beer (fountain), and an order or fries with Texas sauce. Dogs were yummy and grilled perfectly. Chilli sauce trumped the Texas sauce in my opinion. First time having Texas sauce and I feel it needed a bit more salt. Fries could also be a bit crispier. Overall, food was a hit! Quick and friendly service. Good for takeout. Cash Only. Park in the small lot or on the street. Great place to dine outside on a nice day. Ugh, died and gone to hot dog heaven. It is no divey Rutt's Hut (#1 Best Hot Dog Forever), but their hot dogs are delicious. Between my manfriend and myself, we had two Chicago dogs, a plain hot dog, a cheeseburger, a mini burger, an order of onion rings/fries, small fries, a side of their in-house Texas sauce, a medium pepsi and a medium iced tea. I had the plain mini-burger, and it is similar to what another reviewer noted as well - a better White Castle burger. Their onions are grilled into the bottom of the patty. However, the regular sized burger came with the most beautiful sesame seed dotted bun. It looked fake, and a tear almost came to my eye. The Chicago dog at Dover Grill is the best Chicago dog I've had outside of Chicago. It's not necessarily a standard Chicago dog - the onions are minced, you get a jalepeno instead of a sport pepper, pickle slices instead of a spear - but the essence of the world's best topped hot dog was still there. Now let's discuss their crinkle cut fries and perfect onion rings and the perfect half and half combo. Perfect. We got the Texas side ($1.10!) on the side to try with the fries, and I'm not sure how different the chili sauce is. We'll have to give it a go the next time. This is a seasonal business - so closed in the late fall and winter. Opened again, they are a "hot dog stand" with tables outside. They also do take out. They feature "hot dogs all the way" - a favorite that began in Paterson NJ in the 1930s. They also have hamburgers, cheesesteaks and other simple fare. Their onion rings are good too. Side by side with the Dover Dairy Maid, you can have a pleasant meal and a milk shake or ice cream. So stop by. I have been coming here for more than 20 years and am always satisfied. read more

After months of my friends heckling me to check this stand out, i finally caved in and went. And I'm sorry i did, so long story short they served me probably the most disgusting hot dog I've ever had, dry almost stale bun, gross (all beef?) hot dog, and nasty chilli. Maybe they suck at making dogs, but whatever, and my friends insisted the sliders were lit. They were good going in, but not good by the time i got home.. The only reason they get 2 stars is for having Boylans root beer on tap & ice cream next door. read more

Moved here in July, this place does NOT disappoint. It is good no matter what the day or time is! It's not too pricey, and it's always made fresh. Hot dogs are tough. Everyone has an opinion about what makes the best dog. For me, I know a good dog when I eat one. And you can get a good dog here. Been several times over multiple summers. Chili dogs for me. Plain dogs for my son. Fries and rings. The dogs have good snap. The chili, while not spicy, has a good kick of cumin. Fries and rings are tasty. Everything is prepared to order. I enjoyed the outdoor bench seating with umbrella protection from the sun. There is a parking lot for convenient parking. I was happy to learn that's the hot dogs are 100% beef. I ordered 2 chili and cheese hot dogs. The chili is homemade but doesn't pack a lot of the flavor. The processed cheese which I'm not proud to have consumed complimented the chili which gave it flavor. My son and I shared a small chili fry. The fries were just okay as the chili was bland. We added salt and pepper for taste. If I'm ever in the mood for a hot dog again I would revisit this establishment. This has always been a great place however this visit was awful and we won't be back. Not sure who was cooking if they're new or old. My usual onion burger had thw Soggiest roll ever taste it like a big mush of boiledness French fries came out cold so I brought them back and asked for hot fries looks like they threw those back in the fryer which you cannot do because they come out greasy and overdone which they were so they weren't really edible. This place is a well-loved local staple. It's a really nice and conscience by place to grab a dinner or lunch or share some 1/2 and 1/2 fries and onion rings with a friend. The only problem can be seating, since there are only bar stools inside and about 6 picnic tables outside which are sometimes occupied by customers from Dover Dairy Maid next door. All of our friends who have movies from the area miss this place and remember it fondly. It's just a really great local spot for simple meals. read more

Not sure what the hype is about this place. I've taken my family here once. Haven't been back. Philly cheese steak was dry, so was the hamburger. Hot dog rolls were inedible due to being so soggy. Only decent thing ate was the cheese fries. The seating is far from none and the service area was extremely small. They do not accept anything but cash, making dining even tougher. read more

Love, Love, Love this place. I especially miss it since I dont work in the area anymore. It's a seasonal place that closes down in the winter. Their mini burgers are exceptional and blow away White Mana or any other place I have been to. Their regular burgers are great. Their dogs are above average. It was a bigger version of the White Castle sliders but made with more love. They only take cash which is very inconvenient. Considering that it's 2016, they should get with the times. Finally I have found a place that has great hotdogs thats not near the shore or in south jersey =) Came here on a sunny day and the outdoor seating was awesome, it is very similar to having a nice bbq at some friend's yard. I tried the chili dog and straight up hotdog both of which were not of the footlong variety but were still delicious. the chili on it tasted real and not like the fake canned stuff you get at stewarts. I can't believe I've lived in the area for 10 years and have never been to the Dover Grill before this past weekend. I have to hand it to Yelp for helping me find this place that is sure to become a regular lunch and dinner spot for my friends and family. The food is tasty and fresh. The hamburgers, hotdogs, and fries were prepared well and fairly quickly. The cheesesteak we ordered was good, but seemed a bit 'light'. Talk about an All-American place! Dover Grill serves up burgers, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, corn dogs and more! All at an affordable price too. The corn dog had a donut-like coating (not the best corn dog I've ever had but would satisfy a corn dog craving). The Texas Burger was basically a burger with their special sauce on top. Chili cheese fries were topped with generous amounts of chili and cheese. Counter seating indoors and picnic tables outdoors provide ample seating for all. There is a small parking lot across the street however street parking is also available. And for dessert, you can just hop next door for some delicious ice cream. read more
