My husband bought me a birthday gift on July 26 at the Downtown Store, which is the same owner, but the Home Store across the street on Del Mar Ave. He spent $165 on a paper towel holder artistic piece . When I opened the gift it wouldn't stand up straight and kept falling over. I went back an hour after he purchased it and the employee told me there are NO REFUNDS and NO EXCHANGES. I went back 4 different times to meet the owner (who was never there) to ask if I could at least exchange it for something that isn't damaged. After going to the store multiple times not able to resolve the issue, I tried to contact the store owner by. phone from July 26- Aug 14 leaving messages on voicemail and also through her IG page DM's. Finally on August 23rd, someone (don't know who it was but most likely the owner) texted me to tell me that she would not give me a refund or an exchange. She's rude and hell bent on sticking to her policy and losing customers rather than listening and working with the issue at hand. She sarcastically texted her sign off to me and says, "Have the day you deserve". What business owner would treat their customers this way? Buyers Beware!!!! We had been frequent shoppers at her store, after this awful experience, we will never step foot in there again. read more

I bought a blouse from $25 rack at the back of the store which you would assume is a sales rack, but that is not the case at all. When I got the blouse home, I noticed that it had deodorant stains, and the snap buttons were very stretched out. Also, I I was told I could only pay with Venmo, Zelle or cash. This is clearly a resale/consignment/personal item, not a new retail item that was just on sale. Totally false advertising and not legal to charge sales tax on personal items nor try to hide the sale through the payment methods mentioned above. I asked the owner for a refund and was declined without explanation. Buyer beware. Report will be filed asap!! read more

BEWARE of this place!! I will never step foot in this store again. I've never experienced a store OWNER being SO rude. Being so unkind to locals who are trying to shop is bad business. Telling customers you don't have time for them and don't want to help them when they are trying to purchase something is unreal. Especially when you aren't doing anything but just standing there. I prefer shopping at family owned businesses rather than large "mall" stores. Now more than ever I think it is important to support our local small stores. Downtown Boutique is my first choice in San Clements for my wardrobe needs, or even if I don't need that adorable Linen dress made in Italy, it's hard to resist. Tika is the owner and what I like about her store is that she buys for all ages and most size women! She has a great selection and will help you with styling while trying on outfits if you like. It is also my new go to place for accessories like purses and hats. So sad to have to leave this review - I won't be returning after the horrible customer experience and treatment I received today. The owner is EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I'm pregnant and she insisted I pay CASH for a particular item and she couldn't give me a legit reason why. So I had to walk 4+ blocks to find an ATM and when I came back she was so condescending and nasty. Her reasoning behind paying cash for this item was that "she paid a lot of money for it and I'm getting it for $25" lol I'm sorry but that makes ZERO sense. Also had to pay tax, so why did I have to pay cash for this particular item when I could have easily used my debit card? Seems shady. She also snatched the dress back from me after I gave her my cash and said "DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT?". It's not a shock to me that there are many other reviews saying the same things about her. I would like a minus star. You do NOT want to be in Downtown! A rip-off. Purchased a top for my daughter on Saturday - she did not like it. Returned on Sunday. Woman there said the owner is not there and she doesn't know how to do it. Come back on Tuesday! Gave the benefit of the doubt. Returned on Tuesday. Same woman said owner had a '911', but she knows how to do it. Exchange only! Nothing, absolutely nothing that states exchange only. Nothing on the receipt. Go see Tika and everyone at the downtown boutique. I have been going there for the last four years. Tika has become pretty much my personal shopper. When I call to schedule a time that I'm going to come in she has a bunch of clothing already pulled for me that she knows my wife love. Even if she can't be there one of the other sales people will have all the clothes waiting for me. As like any other husband, I dread shopping. Tika has streamlined the process and I am usually in and out in less than 15 minutes. I highly recommend the Downtown Boutique! read more

So pleased with the clothes and customer service here. It is a small boutique but the clothing is displayed well, making it easy to choose items. Good quality clothing, super cute items and jewelry, purses, etc. Really helpful staff; the lady that was in while I shopped was so nice and knew her products well. Sometimes I feel ignored while shopping in the clothing stores on Del Mar, the girls working are usually chatting among themselves...but every time I go in here I am assisted in a pleasant way - not pushy at all. Love the boutiqe, and tanning prices are cheap. Clothes are pretty expensive but anything on Del Mar is gonna be pricey. 2nd time I've come here and it's closed with no business hours or sign. It's 4:30 and the Web page says they're open until 7. No "on lunch, will return" or "open/closed" sign. No answering machine or direct line for someone to answer the phone.. only a lay down bed and seems like chances are pretty much 50/50 to get service/help. I've learned to call first before showing up. I would have given 5 stars because the girls that work here are nice, quality is good, but it's a major inconvenience for the money I've spent. read more

I saw a beautiful red dress in the window one evening and decided to go to the store the next morning. The associate was pushy but that's understandable since they probably work off of commission. I went to purchase the dress and a pair of stud earrings but the associate wasn't able to work the register. I came back 30-45 minutes later since I was in a time crunch (my flight was leaving soon) and purchased the items. As I was transferring the items from the bag into my suitcase I noticed one of the earrings fell off the cardboard holder. I looked everywhere and even returned to the store to search. The new associate said she made sure the earrings were on the holder when she placed them in the bag, however she did mention something about a jewelry bag. The earrings wouldn't have been lost had the combative employee placed the earrings in a separate jewelry bag like all other boutiques in the area do. read more
