At the beginning of my night at 12 we was getting good service then after the bartender got high or drunk... her eyes were half way open taking orders. Only gave us a whiskey Coke when we ordered a double then said it was because MY DAD was slurring.... Mind you it was because she told her coworker that "I accidentally made singles instead of doubles" then idk what the other girl said but my bartender came up to us and said " he sounded like he was slurring so I can only give you a single" mind you. I'm watching her pour the drink across the bar and the music got quiet while they was talkinghmmm suspicious... then the next hour the girl bartenders won't look at us : my dad, brother and me: at all. The Distillery is upstairs and doesn't have much lighting in it. It's dark inside with a long bar, a few seats, and several pool tables - no charge to play pool! So that's a plus. But it just didn't give us a feel inside of a bar we wanted to stay at very long. This place must be owned by the same people that own the strip club across the street, cuz the bartender was really pushing us to head over there, even telling us about their comparable drink prices and reasonable dance prices. I meant to avoid this place like the plague after reading that one review about the dude with the pit bull. Yeah...that story was pretty disgusting, assuming it actually happened. And whilst I don't have any gross stories like that to tell, I CAN tell you that this place is so abysmal, it made me wish we could break into Anodyne, turn on the lights and shitty music, and shoot pool there instead. Alas, they were closed due to it being the 4th; whilst Distillery remained ostensibly open for some reason. Right up front I can tell you this place only has 3 redeeming qualities going for it.. 1.) The drinks and pool table rates are apparently dirt cheap. 2.) The bartender was actually kinda cute and very accommodating. 3.) The music was much better than Anodyne. Thusly accounting for the two stars I'm willing to grant them. But really, the biggest problems with this place are actually very simple problems. So I really can't be too forgiving. First of all, the cue sticks in this place are hot garbage. Granted, I always bring my own cue stick with me to any pool hall, that's beside the point. I had a chance to take a look at these things up close and most of them were either missing the counterweights on the back or just didn't feel right. Whatever the case, it reinvigorated my appreciation for ordering my own cue stick via eBay ages ago. Second caveat I would throw out to you guys: do NOT, under any circumstances...use the restrooms upstairs. My wife went to use them and said that not only could she NOT use the bathroom, but she also felt like throwing up by the time she walked out. The way she described it was gut wrenching. But to sum up, the whole thing reeked of piss. Third, and possibly the biggest problem of all...the alcohol selection is limited to pretty much domestic beer and hard liquor; no wine what so ever. I'm sorry. But they automatically lose points with me if they can't even supply wine. This is a basic and common form of alcohol. When smaller restaurants can't supply a full bar, they at LEAST supply beer and wine only. Oh and speaking of alcohol, I DID order a rum and coke. Let's just say it was the weakest form of carbonated piss water I've ever tasted. Or didn't taste...I'm not even sure if I was drinking regular coke or a wine cooler. My entire ticket for the night, after two rum and cokes and an hour and a half of playing pool came to a whopping total of....6 bucks. See what I mean about dirt cheap? I was grateful anyway because the so-called "rum" tasted like it was worth about 50 cents. I would have been better off drinking Listerine. Distillery gets 2 pathetic attempts at mixing a cocktail drink out of 5. But just to clarify, I definitely don't blame the bartender for this. She didn't really have much to work with and I kind of pity the folks who have no choice but to work here. Oh yeah...forgot to mention...they didn't even have an eight ball in the balls they gave us. They had this...white ball which was slightly redder than the actual...white..ball. *sigh* This pool hall sucks. read more

I have only two rules for bars to get a good rating from me. OK, three--but since smoking has become so yesterday, I can't blame a place for not having a smoking area. So the two rules are these: strong drinks, cheap price. These are probably very common rules among us drunks, so know that this expectation excludes pretentious wine bars or any place where I feel like I should be donning fake eyelashes and showing off tits. No, this only includes dive bars, which this place clearly is. It's dirty. It's questionable. The music and crowd leave much to be desired. This is my kind of bar, right? NO, because the drinks are weaker than Mary back in Winslow, AZ and they aren't cheap. I actually got sick of drinking because it was if I were just drinking glass after glass of sprite. My god. Not to mention, on New Years Eve, there was ONE bartender. ONE person for the whole bar. What kind of idiot staffs one bartender on the biggest drinking night of the year? I guess the best part of the whole experience was the disgusting upstairs bathroom, and then the announcement of a man pissing in the stairwell. Awesome. So the distillery was ok The owner definitely needs to remodel this place due to the fact when you go in it looks like everything is falling apart and super super dusty it also looks like this place has never heard of a mop haha it has free games mostly pool tables and video game systems on the wall "PS3s but that's really it. If you go upstairs watch your step the carpet is peeling up and people on the upper floor kept tripping. I do feel like if they actually revamped this place it could actually be nice but in the meantime Id go to a different place also to add the cover is free here as well. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We had a great night the six of us, spent about $500.00 if not more collectively. The night was over and a good night, we were at food truck with hotdogs in front. The bartender sent out a customer we were chatting with well in the line for alcohol, that we had an open tab. Well we didn't, we paid up front for everything and did not have a tab open. This customer was more intoxicated then we were telling us we have to pay or we going to jail. We ask the security to validate her claims of skipping on on the bill. Security would not assist we had to get APD after the customer assaulted my sister in law and slapped her in the face. Well guess what we had a receipt and showed APD who assisted after staff wouldn't. Been there many times and never had a fellow customer chase and assault us because the bartender sent them. Was glad APD was able to assist us after the customer and 3 of her friends chased us to our car... Will not return which sucks because we normally go there when we have family in town. After my sister in law got assaulted will not take any visitors to this location. read more

As a person that hardly goes to bars, I don't know what the normal flow is, but it was hectic. I love the pool tables and the ping pong table. Unfortunately, it's difficult not to lose the ping pong ball under the pool tables. I know it can get busy and crazy, but the bartenders seem like they were taking their sweet time on purpose. In order to understand Distillery, you have to make sure you go with the proper expectation. This isn't a high scale place, so don't expect that if you go here. I would classify Distillery as a Dive Bar. They have cheap drinks, free pool/ping pong and decent service. The venue itself is a bit old, but not terrible. The crowd can be interesting, depending on the night. I've never felt uncomfortable here, there's just a mix of different people, but everyone is minding their own business. Stop by as a stop on your night out downtown, but don't plan to spend your whole night here. If you want somewhere classy, then skip it. The bottom line is: there's cheap drinks - that's what keeps me going back. read more

I really like the free pool. However, this happened to me and I felt it could have been handled better. I forgot my wallet and an employee came and said I'd have to leave. My friends had just bought beers because we had just arrived, and they asked if they could finish their beers before I left. The employee said no, that he would have to escort me out. He showed me to the top of the stairs and no further. So I went down the stairs and sat on the bottom steps. He said I had to leave all the way, and I told him I was handicapped and needed a place to sit and wait (I physically can't stand up very long, and I had my cane and everything) and that I didn't want to sit on the cold and dirty concrete outside. He said I still had to go, so I ended up doing just that. read more

It's got a vibe that's unmatched. 2.75 you call it's on Thursday can lead to a packed house and the free pool and awesome bartenders (Tiffany and Savannah especially) are another big perk. I had a TERRIBLE time here! The bartender completely ignored us even though there weren't that many people there, and when I called out to her, she snapped at me! "Wait your turn!" she yelled. After we finally got our first round after standing at the bar for 20 minutes, we decided to play pool. There were other people playing, but when we asked the bartender for the billiard balls, she said sure, but only for 15 minutes. I'm not sure if she meant there was a time limit, or that the pool area would be closing soon, but she was very, very rude about it. SO then, we decided to go downstairs and dance. We went to the bar there and tried to order another round, only to be ignored AGAIN! There were three bartenders and few patrons, but we were left to stand at the bar for quite a while. TWO other groups of people were allowed to order before us, even though we had been waiting first. As SOON as we got our drinks, the lights were flipped on and bouncers began to kick everyone out. There was no last call or anything, just despicable jerks rounding everyone up and kicking them out. I asked if I could at least finish my drink since I had JUST come from the bar. He said NO!! I had to leave the FULL drink that I PAID for and barely had time to grab my bag before we were escorted out. Never have I ever experienced being kicked out of a restaurant or bar immediately at closing time without being able to finish what I was drinking! I asked the man at the front door if I could talk to a manager about the shockingly rude and disrespectful service, and he told me that I would have to stand out on the street all night, because the manager was busy. Never got served. I sat at the bar, the few people ahead of me got served, then came my turn. Except my turn never came. I made eye contact with the brunette bartender and gestured that I was ready, but she went to another person. I waited about 10 minutes before I left. I will not be back and I will not recommend , there are plenty of places in Albuquerque that treat customers with respect. We typically go to Anodyne for our billiards needs. However, this past time anodyne was busy so we decided to check out the Distillery across the street. The bar itself felt dingy, weird collection of music playing, there were quite a bit of tables which was nice, made the wait short. Drinks were fair and the total bill with pool ended up being cheap... But some of the crowd in there were ridiculous, sitting on the tables while we were playing pool, one guy obviously drunk & rowdy had his shirt off should have been escorted out... And one of the bartenders acted inconvenienced to serve you. Overall okay experience, but will probably stick to anodyne. read more

Awesome chill spot with great bartenders. Tiffany is awesome and servers the best drinks. The bartenders have many of their customers on first name basis. I was hanging out in my hotel room with a bunch of cousins and uncles. My two 50 year old uncles asked if I wanted to go for a walk downtown. We cruised into this place. It was reasonably full with people dancing and having a good time. The place is reasonably nice. When you walk in there is a dj and a dance floor to your left. the club/bar has pretty cool laser/light effects going on. The bar has nothing really special going on in terms of beer (I talked to some locals supposedly the bar to go to for beer is anodyne which is located across the street). Upstairs has more of a pool hall atmosphere, a few tables and a cigarettes vending machine. I did my exploring of this place ordered a beer and did some dancing. I was dancing by myself till a very heavy set girl came up to me and started dancing with me . I was super shocked when she got on the floor and started break dancing. To my surprise she was actually good. I decided to leave when she was spinning on the floor. read more

Distillery is a place where you either love it or hate it. I on the other hand tend to love it. Downstairs has been remodeled and looks like your typical laid back dark bar then you make your ways upstairs and feels like your in a frat house. I didn't have a good experience last Saturday night - first time I've been to this place. It wasn't busy at all when we came (around 9PM), and I saw that the ping pong table was available. I ordered 2 beers and told the bartender we wanted to play ping pong, but also we wanted to play pool. She said she was going to write my name down which I never saw her doing so. After we finished playing ping pong (we played for about one hour), I asked her how long for the pool table. She said we were second one line. I asked her if she was sure about that because I never saw her writing my name down. She grabs a piece of paper, asks for my name and then write on a piece of napkin. She then looks at me with a face like: "I'm not writing your name down unless you tip me for that". I then ordered 2 more drinks (and both times I ordered I gave her tip), watched some TV and left this place. I'm definitely not going back here - I hate giving my hard earned money for people who doesn't deserve it. I had a much better experience at The Anodyne. read more

I usially love this place. I go every mon tues and thurs. Well today i went with my lil brother to play some pool n have a few drinks. There was only 1 table open which we didnt mind. I ordered a water before i start my drinking. She was sooo rude. Tells me about a drink minnimum which i have never heard at this place. I just say ok and we go and play pool for about 15 min. We see a good table clear up so we hurried up and switched tables. This bartender came over and demanded that we switch back or she was going to kick us out. Savannah is one of them and whom I seem to run into when I go in. Always fast and polite.
