    Grilled shishitos
    Francisco S.

Located in the recently renovated hotel Arrive, DWNTNR is part of the downtown revival in the city. The vibe was vintage with elegance. The jukebox played a wide range of music. Our server was quite honest with her recommendations and fast with her service. We chose a little get together for a colleague holiday celebration. So food and drinks needed to happen. For food we got the disco fries, which did not succumb to the wet ingredients and remained crunchy on the outside. The grilled chichitos had a few spicy exemplars but the rest were tolerable, with a lime aioli that made them pop. The chips and green chile queso were decent. The carne adobada was tender and easy to shred with good flavor. The Korean chicken and waffles were mine. They looked special and exciting. The gochujang maple sauce was interesting but it lacked sweetness and spicy. It was a very tame flavor. The chicken was very crispy on the outside but not too moist on the inside, making that cut into the chicken pieces quite tricky. The waffle was ok. Our drinks, however, were stellar heroes for the night. The hot cocoa with rum was warm, sweet, delicious, and full of whipped cream sprinkled with cinnamon powder. It was a very rummy and wintery drink. The desperado was quite summery, for a big contrast from the hot cocoa. It was crisp, fresh, and a bit sour like a good tepache. And last but not least, the meat & potato man was a powerful and surprising drink, as it was small but full of different flavors that worked together like magic. Overall, I'd recommend the drinks, ambiance, and service at this place. The food, needs more work to match the flavors and quality of their drinks.

DWTNR is a very charming spot to stop in for a brunch, with a nice inventive menu. I went with a group of 6 and we were seated quickly, and half of our group had our eyes drawn to the same thing on the menu: the hash brown chilaquiles! It looked incredible, so many of us went for it. I went halfsies with a friend and also shared the breakfast burrito. The hash brown chilaquiles was shockingly salty. Like incredibly, painfully salty. The whole table was in consensus. I'm not sure if we visited on an off day, but we couldn't figure it out. It seemed to be the carrot salsa that was the culprit, but it impacted the entire dish. In comparison, the breakfast burrito was much more enjoyable to eat. The service was good and the environment was pleasant to spend the morning.

We were seated promptly and waited on promptly. My business associate got a green chili burger. I got tuna, tartare, and a wedge salad. Everything was prepared deliciously

Cute restaurant + patio bar spot inside the new ARRIVE Albuquerque hotel. I dropped in twice during my two-night stay. We ordered a salted coffee drink (made with cold brew) and worked on our laptops on the patio facing the pool. Our server was great, always checking in. Second visit, we dropped in again for some margarita mocktails and their fries dusted with red chilis. And we added a trio of dips: ranch, ketchup, and aioli. Aoili was my favorite.

A unique space. It's a good spot to meet up with friends occasionally or maybe a first afternoon date. A little pricey for the quality of food. Our service was slow and the restaurant wasn't busy.

I never visited the space when it was whatever it was before now. And all my time living in Albuquerque (about 10 years+) it has always just been abandoned hotel. They have done an absolutely gorgeous job with the room remodel and I cannot wait to see what this space will get used for. I came with some friends on Sunday to enjoy the patio and check out their brunch offerings. I'm writing this review and giving them a lot of slack because it is a brand new space and I know that they have kinks to work out. There are a few things including every single drink we were served was spilled and they absolutely are working on figuring out their coffee machine, but still overall I was impressed. Again, the remodel looks so good. I totally want to check out their stunning pool. The menu was creative and has kind of a unique feel to it. I would almost describe. It is like Asian inspired urban cowboy. We tried a few different things, including the chicken sando and a cocktail. Everything was really good. I did order a pistachio coffee and it was not great at all, but they were kind enough to take it off the check. I love a good brunch spot and I imagine this place is about to get pretty poppin. So pop off and welcome to downtown!

Good if you are staying at the restaurant but not if you are coming from outside. Drinks were good but the one I wanted they were out of and the appetizer we had to ask for more chips

    Prickly pear margarita.

We stopped in during happy hour on our way home from a show this weekend. It was nice to find somewhere with happy hour specials on Sunday! We liked the bar's retro vibe. I had the cocktail special, a prickly pear margarita (very good) and my husband had the Desperado, made with rum and tepache (delicious). We split an order of chips and queso, which was made with green chiles and Velveeta. It was good, and the Velveeta fits with the retro theme, but I think it would be better with real cheese. They still have a few kinks to work out service-wise. It took a while for our server to get to us, they forgot to bring my husband's drink and then brought one he didn't order. But they served him the right thing quickly and comped us for the mistake. They were very friendly and helpful, and glitches are certainly understandable in a new space. We enjoyed our time at DWNTNR and will return.

We came to check out the new bar. It was okay. The happy hour cocktail was a vodka gimlet. It tasted fine, but not sure I would order it again. We ordered the shishito peppers, they were good, I would have preferred them a little more blistered, but still good. We also ordered the queso and chips. Surprisingly they were not good. They use blue corns chips, which is great, but the queso was pretty bland. Also they served the queso and chips in a soup bowl. It was strange. The server was nice enough, but maybe new. The place looks cool. Lots of big tables for larger parties. Glad we came, but not sure we will be back.

    Matcha coconut drink
    Katy ..

This is a fun restaurant but it didn't wow me. They have a limited menu options. The drinks are strong so you really only need one. The slushee cocktail drink is so strong and not very sweet which is what I like and the size is very small. The match drink is creamy with coconut very different from what I drink. It was a little grainy but the presentation of it was cute. The green chilly burgers taste like an upscaled fast food burger. The service was nice as they let us in without a reservation and the drinks and food came fairly fast.

Smashburger + Fries and Breakfast Burrito

Had the BEST lunch with friends at the Downtowner inside the Arrive Hotel! I ordered the breakfast burrito (subbed bacon for avocado) smothered in red and green chile--aka Christmas--and WOW. The presentation was beautiful and the flavor was truly next level. We kicked things off with their Churro French Toast, and honestly it might be one of the most incredible breakfast appetizers I've ever had. Soft milk bread, cinnamon-sugar crunch, topped with vanilla ice cream... absolutely mind-blowing. Our server, Rose, was wonderful--warm, attentive, and on top of every detail. She kept the hot water coming for my tea and made sure we had everything we needed the entire meal. My friends ordered the smashburger with fries and the teriyaki chicken bowl, and everyone left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend checking this spot out!

    Hash brown Chilequilles
    Sam H.

The waitress was attentive and friendly, engaging in pleasant small talk without being overbearing. We asked for drink recommendations and opted for the pineapple mimosa, which was strong yet delightful. For our meal, we tried the hash brown chilaquiles, which were quite delicious. The salsa had a unique flavor with a slight pickled taste, but all the elements combined beautifully. I will be back & will recommend to others.

    Desperato- yummy and refreshing

We were staying at the hotel for the night and I was very happy to hear there was a restaurant. Super cute aesthetics all around! Servers were SO nice but they did get a bit slammed shortly after we arrived. There were two walking around! Maybe one more would help. Food and drinks were delicious.. I was just bummed I only got one tostada for $17. Great tasting but was steep to pay for.

Good balance of tuna, celery, and bread ratio, but I didn't dig the olives in it. There's a mini kale salad that comes with entrees, and it was healthy and palatable for kale. We did end up balancing that green with the pistachio cruffin and pistachio chocolate chip cookie. Would definitely go back for the cruffin with its flaky layers and luscious pastry cream. I absolutely love this place. I've been here a handful of times now, and every visit has been a…read moregood one. The kids are happy, I'm happy, and honestly, that's a successful breakfast in my book. The only downside is the limited seating. It's a smaller location, so it can fill up quickly, especially during the breakfast rush. If you happen to come during a really busy time, you may have to wait a bit to find a table. That said, I don't think it takes away from the experience you just have to time it right. We usually come for breakfast since they're open for breakfast and lunch, and this time I tried the Grande burrito. And let me tell you, "Grande" is not an exaggeration. That is a LOT of food. I got the bacon-smothered burrito with red chile, and it was delicious. Unfortunately, I could not finish it. I do wish there was something between the Grande and Junior because the Grande is a serious commitment, and I'm not sure the Junior would be enough. I'll have to try it next time and find out. My daughter ordered the steak sandwich, which comes with an Angus sirloin steak on Texas toast. It looked a little wild when it came out, but she ate it and said it was delicious, so apparently the presentation was just part of the experience. My son got the sausage, egg and cheese biscuits. He ate the whole thing, so clearly he approved. His only complaint was that the biscuit kept falling apart, but considering he's a little kid, I'm going to blame that one on the user rather than the biscuit. The staff has always been friendly during our visits. On this particular morning, a gentleman came around several times to refill our house coffee, which I always appreciate. Good service and a full coffee cup go a long way. And if you're into pastries and coffee, they have plenty of options. I've tried their blueberry muffin, and it is divine. They also have different baked scones, and I've had their lattes and macchiatos, which have all been really good. I still need to come back during the lunch hours because there are several things I want to try. The hot beef sundae caught my attention, and the Philly also looked really good. There are so many different options that I feel like I could keep coming back and ordering something different every time. This is definitely the kind of place where you can stop in, grab something really good, enjoy a little coffee, and get on with your morning. It's casual, welcoming, and consistently good. Limited seating is really my only complaint. Otherwise, I've been here multiple times and have yet to leave disappointed. Definitely a must-try!

The area looks old and poor, but near the restaurant, we didn't see anything sketchy. When we were leaving, we did see some homeless people at the main intersection, but we didn't see anything we'd describe as sketchy. We did notice there is a mobile home park behind the restaurant, but there is a wall between the mobile home park and the restaurant parking lot. Even if there were police surrounding the mobile home park, we'd still venture inside to eat. The food is that good. We shared the cowboy breakfast burrito and the Santa Fe pancakes. Both were filling and ridiculously good. The Santa Fe pancakes made with blue corn, roasted piñons, green chili, and cheddar jack cheese were different than anything else we've ever had. I'll admit I didn't love my first bite or two, but the more I ate, the more I wanted. The pancakes are dry, but if you drizzle some syrup, it's the perfect match. The accompanying eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. The cowboy breakfast burrito is massive, filling, and worth every calorie. Even though we were stuffed, we had to get the peach with green chile turnover. We asked if the turnover is served warm and our waitress replied that she could warm it up for is. I'm not sure that it is normally served warm, but I highly recommend it. The turnover flaky, the glaze was silky once warmed up and the peach with green chile was unique and delicious. Five star service and food. I highly recommend Vick's Vittles and hope that I'm in the area again so I can try more of this delicious food.

For our meal, we ordered two Chicken & Waffles plates, a Blue Corn Lavender Waffle, and a kids' plate. The Blue Corn Lavender Waffle was a unique touch and a fun way to try something distinctly New Mexican. Neither my wife nor I cared for the drip coffee, so we asked a staff member if we could swap it out for double espressos. They were happy to accommodate us, and the espresso was a significant improvement. It tasted more like a different part of the lion, if you know what I mean. I just didn't eat it past two bites. The asparagus was inconsistent (some smaller mushy stalks and some large uncooked crunchy stalks). The toast would have been fine but the amount of pesto on it was atrocious. I scraped most of it off...I mean there was a MOUND of it. The egg was fine (opted for regular). All in all it was just a piece of toast with an egg DROWNING in sour vegan hollandaise and pesto with asparagus and an inedible fried mushroom thing. And to say 'thing' is even offensive to 'things.' Upside! The place is cute and the people I went with seemed to really enjoy their meals! So take my review with a grain of salt. Maybe it just wasn't for me?

They have the maple pecan donut back for fall and it is delicious. We also tried the pumpkin donut…read moreand it didn't disappoint! We were planning on stopping for lunch but heads up they now only serve their pasties, drinks and now burritos. The rest of the menu is gone. So this trip we just stuck to the donuts!
