Every time I've come here, the experience has been good, but this last time I visited was the best. I was taken care of by Khoi who did a fabulous job with my nails. He was attentive and diligent, not cutting any corners on the work, which I thoroughly appreciated. He also made it easy to communicate with him when I wanted to make any adjustments. I got a gorgeous boysenberry jelly gel-builder manicure at just the perfect length, and he even repaired a broken nail with builder and acrylic perfectly. Definitely will be returning to get work done with him! I love that it's conveniently located in my neighborhood so I can walk, but for those who drive, it always seems to have decent enough parking spaces in the area. I've given this salon many chances, but unfortunately it's been more misses than hits for me. I've mostly gone to Mary, and while my nails have consistently turned out beautiful and lasted a long time, the process has often been painful. She's very aggressive with filing around the nails and cuticles, which creates a lot of friction on the skin and often leaves me with one or two cuts. Even after mentioning it multiple times, the issue continued. The gel lamp she uses is also extremely strong. When I have cuts, the curing process burns so badly that it's sometimes hard to tolerate. She also has me put my hands under the lamp even when there's no polish on them, saying it's to dry my hands. I expressed several times that I'd prefer to minimize the UV exposure, especially since the lamp burns my skin, and even asked if I could use one of the other technicians' lamps, which I noticed were much gentler. Unfortunately, my concerns were dismissed, and my request wasn't accommodated. Because of this, I was always anxious and uncomfortable during my appointments and never felt like I could truly relax. The staff are friendly, and the quality of the finished nails is good, which is why I kept giving the salon more chances. I just wish the experience had been more gentle, accommodating, and focused on client comfort. read more

Worst pedicure I've ever had. Open cuts were created with the cuticle trim and loofah to side of my foot; then when the callus remover was placed, it was all over the technician's gloves which caused chemical burns and burning sensation to the open cuts she created. Another technician took over for the nail polish, not sure if she was new or inexperienced but it was painful. Do not go here! read more

They were efficient and o was out in about an hour including gel removal. They also accept both Apple Pay and card. A plus! There were a good number of nail colors to choose from, but not an extensive selection. They took great attention to detail to make sure my cuticles were taken care of. I called to make an appt while in town for a conference. They were able to take me after 15 minutes after my call. Unfortunately my dip long nails were very weak and had been breaking. I went in with the intention of doing dip and keeping my natural nails long but after removing the dip and filing..my nails started to break more. So I decided to have them cut short. The salon was pretty empty on a Thursday evening and I left after an hour and a half with short, natural looking dip powdered nails. They're natural and simple, just what I needed! Not sure, but it's never taken an hour and half for my nails. So, make make sure you give yourself plenty of time! I have struggled whether I should post this review or not. My mother and I have been customers for many years. Driving all the way from San Ysidro and currently from Lakeside. We continued coming even after they left the callous remover on too long and it burned holes in my feet. This right before an overseas trip which I spend hobbling in pain for over a week as the holes were very deep and took a several weeks to heal. Please look at the photos showing the stages of healing. Yesterday my mom turned 86 years young. I took her for a pedicure as a treat. Let me note that the last couple of times they have made a fuss about cutting her nails shorter. I also should add, am a retired cosmetology teacher with a current cosmetology license. I know for a fact nails CAN be cut shorter. As a matter of fact I cut them myself when they refused and there was no issue. Yesterday was the same story, what was supposed to be a relaxing mom and daughter moment, turned out to be an unpleasant and unsatisfactory experience. The lady that did my feet was very rushed even though the salon was unusually empty. She did a really shoddy job. She filed the side of my feet until they were red. I kept telling her she was hurting me but unfortunately she doesn't speak a work of English, not even a little. So I had to pull my foot away. I don't know what has happened to them. I am so disappointed, it's been close to ten years we have been coming here. Yesterday we were made to feel like our business isn't wanted or valued. I don't get it, they have less technicians and customers than ever and they still don't provide their loyal customers the level of quality service they used too provide before when the place was packed. PRICE: #2 Pedicure - $70 // base price + gel polish (1 hour) Dip powder - $50 // price + manicure (1.5 hour) The salon is clean and they follow covid protocols/regulations. Staff is friendly and they have a large selection of polish colors. I scheduled a last minute appointment for Saturday morning and they weren't super busy or crowded. I made an appointment for a dip powder and pedicure. The lady that did my pedicure was amazing and it didn't feel rushed at all. What's more amazing is that, She did NOT cut me/my skin while trimming my cuticles! Which is a huge plus for me. I opted in for the #2 pedicure that was listed in the services book which I believe was either the luxury or ultimate pedicure. I feel like I got my moneys worth and wasn't skimped out on anything. The pedicure was pretty much spot on an hour long service and my dip powder manicure took about an hour and a half. The gentleman that did my nails was gentle and also did NOT cut me while trimming my cuticles. His shaping was also on point plus he didn't forget to put cuticle oil when finished. Their services book and online services when scanning the QR code looks a little different, so make sure that you are confirming your prices. The lady that did my pedicure made sure to confirm my pricing for both of my services before they started on anything which gave me piece of mind, I appreciate that she communicated it with me before hand. This was my first time at Downtown Nail and Spa and I have nothing but amazing things to say about the service and quality of my mani/pedi today. I called and made an appt for 2:30 on a Saturday and arrived about 10 minutes early. I was immediately greeted and asked to pick a color. I sat and waited for maybe a few minutes then was given a pedicure chair to sit in. My pedi service didn't start right away and I did have to wait, but I didn't mind. Eventually my manicurist swung into action and I have to say I have no regrets over my choice for their Ultimate pedicure package. After a stressful few weeks at work it was nice to relax and the massages that are included are worth it! I swear I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed! After my pedi Jenny came to my seat and began my gel manicure. I loved the color and the whole process maybe took 20 minutes. I love her attention to detail and she really made sure that my nails were absolutely perfect - and they were! I walked away with a relaxing afternoon by myself (husband was on daddy duty) and a beautiful mani/pedi too. Overall I loved my experience! I have NO idea how anyone would give this place less than 5 stars?! I stumbled in here in a panic with a last minute event. It is such a hidden jewel! Super clean, smells amazing and not chemical-ly somehow, and everyone was really friendly and great! I feel like I get cuts all the time especially with the gel drill, but not here!!!
