Downtown Thrift is located on the outskirts of downtown Ft. Lauderdale near Bar Rita. Metered parking is available in front of the store. Describing this store is not easy. It reminds me of someone's cluttered basement or garage. It smells like it too. Items are stacked floor to ceiling in the claustrophobic rooms which are more like closets and in the narrow hallway that runs the length of the store. I saw collectibles, bikes, kids toys and games, dishes, small household appliances, books, and a lot more. Unfortunately nothing had a price on it and I wasn't interested in anything enough to ask. The first Yelp review for this place is in 2014! I can't wrap my mind around that they have been in business for mor than 10 years. The only other shopper in there felt as I did. We took a deep breathe of fresh air as soon as we hit the sidewalk. The aisles are difficult to navigate and only suitable for the able bodied and child free. This small store is on the west side of Andrews in an old one story building. It sort of stands out as downtown has not fully encompassed the area here with high rises, yet. Limited parking is on the street right in front of the store. Parking appears to be free -- no meters there. Inside there's a ton of stuff, but it's actually kind of organized by categories or types of items. It took a bit to realize that though. There's one main room with a few alcoves. In one alcove, there is mainly clothes; in another alcove there's mainly cooking/dining stuff including a kitchen sink (working), etc. It's well lit and the aisles are narrow but fairly navigable. Basically there a little bit of everything you might be looking for in this type of store. Since there is so much inventory, you might need to ask for assistance -- who knows they probably have it, if you can find it. This isn't the place to come for used/vintage clothing, per se. But more if you're looking for tools, or bric a brac, or Knick knacks... Happy hunting! read more

Of all the thrift shops I've been to, Downtown Thrift has about the lowest of the low end in stock that I've ever seen. Just about everything in there either showed evident of extreme where, damage or were imitation knockoffs of something else. But worse, everything is in piles and jumbles, unkempt, no very clean and the entire place has a certain musty smell of neglect about it that, after I left, sort of found clinging to my clothing. A little piece of china, however, did catch my eye. Though it looked every bit like a piece of Royal Doulton, upon closer examination it appeared that whoever marked it forgot how to properly spell the "Royal Doulton" trademark, marking instead as being a piece of "Royal Dalton." I stumbled upon this place last Sunday after a visit to Tap 42. It kind of threw me off that a thrift store was there, but you, surprises are fun. This was an interesting place. Stuff was everywhere. I mean everywhere. You know that junk closet everyone has where you open the door and everything falls out, this was one big closet like that. Don't get me wrong, it was organized chaos, but it was a little maddening to see how much stuff they fit in a small space. The owner/employee was very nice, offering assistance as needed. There are a few rooms in the store. Each room is a department. It had a lot of women's clothing, but I didn't see any men's clothing. A lot of board games which helps greatly when doing a cheap game night. For me, it was a little too much stuff in one small space. It was hard to focus on anything one item because there was just so much stuff everywhere. I would definitely recommend to any thrifter though. It's worth giving a try. read more

::sigh:: I have such a love/hate relationship with this store and here's why.... Tony prices according to ebay (and he will remind you on every item you glance at) which is fine except that true market value is determined by sold items. Its like real estate. I can list whatever I want at whatever price I want but will it sell? Probably not. Overall, he has some nice items but overpriced.... His "best" deal to me was 3 pairs of boots for $100:( one pair had a sticker price of $25....and its not like they are giving a portion of proceeds to a charity. People walk in then walk right out. He doesnt get it. Expensive prices, slow turning inventory, not enough new merchandise coming in... Tony is almost like that hoader on american picker that REALLY doesnt want to sell his stuff even though he should...he will negotiate highly then walk away from sale. I dont know about you, but I cant walk away from a sale. A bird in the hand and all.... Time is money and it adds up. Metered parking outside too. Bring change. Or not. read more

Let me save you the time and anguish and tell you to avoid this place. I spent about 10-15 minutes in this place and while I did find a few things I would have liked to own, the owner quoted very high, and mentioned astronomical retail prices. This place is full of random things, but he wants $15 for a Used Britta pitcher with no filter, it's just not worth it. Stay Away! read more

Nothing is priced .. When you ask for a price its extrememly high! The place is very creepy with different rooms filled with mostly junk. Dirty dishes in the sink , when I went in I wanted to run out. I'm sure there are a few treasures in there but needs to be organized! read more

I was going to check out the news shop a couple doors down and decided to stop in here first. I walk to the back and started working my way back to the front. I looked through some CDs and records, but didn't find a thing. Near the entrance I saw some DVDs I wanted and asked "how much for the DVDs?" The man at the counter asked to see them. From other reviews I read, it seems his name is Tony. He told me $3, which was fine as most thrift stores charge the same. So, standing at the counter with six DVDs or so I proceed to open the cases and inspect the discs. Tony quickly told me "they're all perfect, believe me", or something to that effect. I'm a person who's persnickety about the condition of CDs, DVDs, and other media, when buying them used. So, I continued to look them over. These were pretty scratched up on both sides and I let him know. Tony seemed to take offense that he was wrong about the condition. He gave me a sour grapes type comment like "then don't buy them!" So I didn't. Doubtful I will ever return. read more

Very small but clean and organized with lots lots but LOTS of things all over the place. Everything from women to men to kids to bric and brac to new and old. Tony is super nice and gives you good deal on the high price he has LOL . You need lots of time to see around. Nothing has a price so it's like going to a flea market which I love them.
