The food and service are awesome! Went with a few friends for dinner and beverages last night. It was a busy night, lots of energy, everyone around us seemed to be having a great time! Our table shared a plate of Buffalo wings, then a couple had salads with shrimp or chicken, one had Mahi ceviche, another Tuna ceviche, and lastly the fish and chips! Everything was delicious - the fish tasted so fresh! Great casual spot to enjoy a meal and/or beverage with friends or family! read more

Dox is a cute place. We went after the beach!! We ordered a margarita and an old fashioned while waiting for our table. Then at dinner, the Thai calamari, the lobster roll and the brisket melt. The food was good. The portions are kind of small though! Paul our server was very sweet and personable! He answered all our questions and he is a great sever. I liked the ambiance of the place. Relaxed, casual place. Live music playing and lots of outdoor games to play, so it was very nice. The view was great too! My only issue is the dogs in the restaurants. There were some kids playing in the sand. I just hope the dogs didn't do their business in the sand too! Just saying! I don't always want to eat where there are dogs allowed. I have my own dogs. And I get it that people love them. But sometimes it's nice to not eat with other people's pets around! read more

Really interesting location. The server was really nice, the location is unusual and cool. You sit waterside next to a small dock with boats tied up on it, a selection of tables, some with umbrellas which will be needed in the middle of summer, and there is an area that is all sand with covered tables and games. Could be a great place to bring kids and have a drink. I suppose. My kids are taller then I am now and I don't drink, but still for you normies out there, bring your kids, your uber app, and have some drinks. We had a grilled chicken salad and a lobster roll. Both came out pretty quickly and were very good. Surprisingly so, much better than expected. Not a year-round venue but assuming they can keep it going, I see this turning into a favorite slightly out-of-the-way watering hole. I just have to say, though, and this goes out to all NY restaurants: why are lobster rolls $25 and up? Did you have a meeting. Go while there's some good weather left. You'll like this unusual find. read more

Found this place on Yelp and was excited to try out a new outdoor restaurant on the water. We arrived on Friday night around 6 PM and were told there would be a 30 minute wait to be seated. The hostess wrote my name on the list "Jessica - Green dress", and my husband and I walked over to the bar. It took a long time for a bartender to take our drink order. When we received our drinks, we walked passed the tables to stand by the water. We noticed as people were leaving, others would just take their table without putting their name on the list or being called. I approached the hostess and informed her of this, as well as let her know there were a couple of empty tables and we wanted to sit down. She showed me the list and there were about 7 names ahead of mine. She started looking for people based on what they were wearing and what she had written down next to their name. She also had to keep telling people that they couldn't have a table because there was a list, but then the table would be empty for a while before she would find who she was looking for. They really need a better system for this. Also, while we waited to be seated, we saw people sitting at tables without any food or drinks and just chatting. I think if there's a long list of people waiting for a table, they should be told that they can have a seat at the bar but the tables are needed for guests wanting to eat dinner. Anyway, we were finally seated after waiting a little over an hour. My husband ordered a burger with bacon and fries and I ordered a salad. Both of our meals were very good which is why I'm giving Dox a 3 star rating. I think Dox is a good place to grab a drink and maybe a snack, but I wouldn't say it's a restaurant and I definitely wouldn't recommend it for dinner. Extremely s l o w - s l o w - s l o w service. Had a party of 15 people and it took almost 2 hours to get our entrees from the kitchen to the table. The food is tasty, and a nice atmosphere (good music) , but I would never come back because the continued excuse of the kitchen being backed up.The wait staff is nice, but the overwhelmed kitchen staff can not keep up. I would go elsewhere if you have a large party, because it appears to me that they can't handle large parties. . I would not Dox again....... Oh and the restrooms were not very clean... and to top it off please check your bill for errors plus bring cash to avoid a credit card use fee...... and was told at market price on 7/31/21 that a lobster roll would be $30.00. read more

DOX really is a hidden gem. With the only exception of the sign and curious wrecked plane fuselage- one has no idea what's beyond the entrance. Upon walking in- to the left one finds a beach like atmosphere, sand, high tables in the sun, to the right- the bar, indoor seating and outdoor seating with umbrellas. I could easily envision some beach style volleyball, music, a band even, going on in the evenings. We were seated "inside" by some of windows- a great spot where the breeze kept us cool and the concrete ground was cool and comforting for the pup we brought along. Yes, behaving dogs are welcome here. My date had the Dox on the Rocks and I- the Start Bailing. Both were excellent. I confess I could not finish mine..... or I could have ended up bailing. She ordered the lobster roll and thoroughly enjoyed it. Equated the freshness and portions reminiscent of lobster rolls from our trips to a spot just outside of Bar Harbor Maine, called the Traveling Lobster. I had the Fish n Chips, and the pup had a kids mini burger. The highlight of it all though was our server, Ms Dana. Ms Dana was wonderful. She returned often, first making sure the food was to our specifications-then that we had everything we needed and wanted. She was an absolute joy. She works on Saturdays, so, if you want great food and greater service- ask for her on Saturdays! read more

My wife and I really enjoyed our experience at Dox and had a great time UNTIL after the check was paid and I left a 16% tip, (not super high but definitely not a low tip) the waitress stopped my wife and asked if there was a problem, she said no. Then the waitress said "your boyfriend is CHEAP!" My wife was EXTREMELY embarrassed Really? She feels like it's ok to insult a customer over a couple bucks? Golly Miss Molly... the other day I frequented my local favorite spot once again: DOX. I was seated swiftly and that was the start to an amazing dining experience. My server, Dana was just excellent to say the least. Service with a smile doesn't even hold a candle to how excellent she was. She was fast, in depth and Johnny on the spot when it came to waters and refills on adult beverages. This extraordinary server could do it all. She was so kind and so sweet and took care of me like it was a bed and breakfast. Once again the food was other worldly good. Let's just say, Dana left with a pocket full of money from all the happy customers that had the opportunity and the luxury to be seated in her section that night. read more

I've been to Dox many times in the past but have never had an experience like the last time I was there. Dana made it memorable. She's an excellent server. She paid attention to detail, the order came out perfect, and I felt like anything I needed was a request away. She made the experience feel top notch and memorable. We went to Dox Sunday afternoon of Memorial day weekend as it was a beautiful day. First time there and was not crowded. The ambiance was nice, with it next to the water and boats. Big outside eating area and the service was good. The issue was price vs portion. There are posted photos of their lobster roll showing a full hoagie roll; nope we got half of a hoagie roll. Mostly fries and $33. Also there were only 8 small steamed clams in the appetizer; $18. The food tasted great but economizing sizes is a turn off. read more

Came here for the first time yesterday. Definitely a cool hidden gem. I found this place on yelp and heard about it from a few friends that live in the area. Really cute has a sandy area and a huge patio. Really clean bar and cute concept with food truck and the bar. we started with the fried calamari which was delicious. I ordered the lobster roll- too much mayo for me, I would rather have more lobster. My friend ordered the burger and enjoyed It. I will be back to try something else. read more

This is a good, waterside dining and drinking destination. Lawn games abound to distract both kids and adults, there are colorful Adirondack chairs overlooking the water and sunset, you can bring your boat alongside the marina docks (get it, DOX?), bar prices are moderate although I believe that a true Happy Hour should be instituted, there is a pretty good assortment of menu items, but the best parts are the water views available from the outdoor wooden picnic tables, food served in paper baskets and nice, cold pitchers of whatever you're drinking. This is a review for an event at DOX! -- We were looking for a place to have a casual, beachy wedding reception and DOX fit the bill! It's an awesome spot with a beer garden vibe right on the water, which made for great photo opps. We worked with Norah, one of the owners, who was a quick and effective communicator and made planning a breeze! The food was served buffet-style, and it was delicious (we got chopped brisket, Thai chili glazed chicken, pulled pork, and penne ala vodka). It was all great and our friends and family couldn't stop talking about it. Dox also provided a tent, tables (a mix of round and picnic), tablecloths and chairs. Plates, silverware, and drinkware, too -- all disposable. A floor was also put down over the sand to put some of the tables on. One of the many reasons we love DOX is because of it's laid back, beachy vibe so we wanted to embrace it for this party. Overall, a really great experience with Norah & DOX and I would 1,000 percent recommend it to anyone who is looking to do something more causal (with water views, to boot!) We had such a great time and hopefully I'll attend another event here in the future... I want more of their brisket!! read more

Came here after enjoying a great YEE during the summer on a really nice Saturday evening with my in-laws. We sat inside where there was a live band playing. The service was good, and the food was tasty, though not super fancy. I found the food prices a little high, but I guess you're paying for the ambience (right on the water) and experience (live music) more than just the food. We eventually moved to one of the open-air high-top tables after eating because the music was REALLY loud. Table service in the area not under the awning with the music (read: closer to the water and way quieter) had a long wait but the inside had no wait for obvious reasons. Drinks were reasonably priced, and they had a pretty good beer selection. Weirdly, though, I was "warned" that one of the beers on the menu was an IPA. I said "oh, in that case, I'll have *insert other beer* instead." Turns out that was ALSO an IPA... Either way it was fine, just kinda weird I'd be warned about one but not the replacement. read more

I was really looking forward to coming here for the atmosphere as well as the pet friendliness. Appetizers and drinks were great, however our entrees were not it. My lobster roll was 90% imitation crab meat and only had dill flavoring. The paella had Italian sausage in it, with no flavor (even though the menu stated chorizo). The fish pieces in the fish and chips meal were all the same size with a cold center, indicating to me they may have been frozen. First time here, we came at night so it wasn't sunny and very breezy, but even so nice relaxing atmosphere. We were seated a good distance apart from other parties and our waitress was very attentive and sweet. We ordered the Thai calamari and the garlic Parmesan wings as starters . It's kind of just ok. Wed night. Our server and hostess were both very freindly/nice. Really laid back place. Wasnt super busy but bar was full. We order two apps and one main to split. The goat cheese balls were good. I liked the strawberry and whatever was drizzled on top. I just wish there was a little more of it with the arugala. We wanted to try the three soup sampler - but they only had the lobster bisque. It was garnished with green onion. I would have loved a few shrimp or lobster chunks, or some bacon. It was ok. Our entree ended up coming out at the same time as the apps so I felt super rushed. Fish and chips. It tasted like the fries were cooked in the same oil as the fish, and both left a little after taste that wasnt super pleasant. The cod was deeply fried but found it had too much oil obsorbed into it. With so many local great choices for quick, yummy, fresh, easy bites - not sure if I would eagerly say "Dox" the next time. Loved the outdoor space with the cornhole and picnic tables as a fun hangout for day after beach or early evening with kids. Like the dog freindly aspect. Ny seems to be the only place where dogs are not welcomed in every day activities. It was weird that there was a food truck in the yard..and a greek menu tucked in the middle of the regular menu. Not really sure what was going on. We like Greek but specfically came to try..well.not Greek. The messaging is confusing. I was hoping to get a simple glass of wine but with dinner but didnt think this was the place. I am not a fan of think plastic cups that sweat condensation on hot summer days but i guess there are not too many options to fix that. After sitting for 20 min without being acknowledged a waitress made eye contact with me as I went to stand up to search out a server. Dana finally brought 2 menus to our party of 5. We asked for a high chair and was told the bus boy handles that. Atmosphere here is great and that's about the only positive thing I can say. Despite being far from packed, their kitchen was so backed up that they stopped seating people. They finally sat us after we asked for an update but no one came to take a drink or food order after we waited for over a half hour at the table. We did get drinks from the bar but wouldn't recommend those either. Even the Diet Coke was undrinkable. There were multiple opportunities for them to remedy the situation but hospitality doesn't seem to be their specialty. Stay far away from this place. read more

We came here on a Friday night by boat and docked easily. We were told a half hour wait which was fine as we waited on the boat. They called us when our table was ready and we waited for about 6 minutes before someone came over to ask if we received our menus. When we responded no, he said he'd be right back. Two more waiters came over asking the same question when finally one brought over the menus. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the soup sampler, chicken fingers and my fiance ordered a burger. The food came out pretty quick but when I looked at my soup there were suppose to be three different soups- I received three soups but two were the same. When the waiter came over to ask how everything was I asked if the soups were 3 different kinds to which he responded "no, we ran out." I feel that that should have been addressed when the food was brought out. When I tried the soup, it was cold and tasted like something out of a can. Also, no one mentioned that they ran out of chicken fingers until we asked where the chicken fingers were. Mind you, this was about 7:30pm on a Friday- a little early to run out of chicken fingers. This place has beautiful views, is dog friendly and is a nice place to sit outside to enjoy a couple drinks but that's it. I would not order food here at all. The menu isn't even that large. There's plenty of other places on the water to go to for better food. Save your money. read more

Firstly, the people that converted the wasteland that was where DOX is now to this place did a great job. Its really nice, and you have a beautiful waterfront setting. That said its down hill from there, if you go for dinner by the water. It was pretty terrible to get a table. No one that works there seems to know whats going on, the patrons are grabbing chairs from tables, and moving them around --so the 4 top you were waiting on just became a zero top... really. Hostess who was very nice quoted 30 mins and so we waited, but that turned into a 2 hour plus wait. We saw lots of folks from long beach, so we chatted a lot to pass time. The food quality is 3/5 --lower end bar food. If everything else was buttoned up, its a pass. The young kids trying to run the place were frustrated, but trying. You can tell some of them were unhappy with the poor and chaotic experience, so kudos to them. That "hope against hope" mentality isn't likely to be sustainable if ownership does not staff adequately. So this is really just a bar with mid to low quality bar food, (heads up: the wings were gross). It most certainly is _not_ a restaurant. As a bar, I'd probably give it 3.5 or maybe even 4 stars, primarily because the bartender was attentive. They also have a decent sized parking lot, which is a plus, and they have (just a few) slips to come by boat, which is a plus. If service improves, and I l gave it another shot, I'd come by boat next time. Several folks from town we know said they wont be back this season, I'll check in and see how reviews on Yelp look in July next year. Maybe. We went out for dinner and got a later night than we were interested in at a bar. It's not a restaurant/ dinner place and its not Pop's in IP either. read more

Finally got to chance to check out DOX since I heard it opened. Went there for a Liquid lunch Monday. Drinks were very good, LITs were on point, bartender very nice and attentive. Nothing like drinking outside on water. They have cornhole too!!! Had the crab and Gruyere Grilled cheese with creamy tomato dip. Sandwich was excellent grilled cheese was soft, creamy and buttery and crab was very favorable. Tomato dip complemented the sandwich very nice. The thing I had an issue with was that I wish there was more of the tomato dip other than that everything was great. Definitely going back again and DOX is a great addition to Island Park. read more

I went there with my girl and this very rude lady told us that they aren't seating anyone as the kitchen is backed up, I asked if we could still sit down and wait the 45min time frame she had the audacity to say no. I will Deff not recommend this to anyone, I believe 100% she racial profiled us as she sat others down after we left because we watched her do so from the car. Will never go here again and will 100% let everyone know our embarrassing experiencing. I expect the owner to rectify this issue and fire that very rude lady. read more

Then it went downhill fast... my lobster roll sandwich was so so but my wife ordered PAELLA and the rice was so sticky and starchy that it looked like a two year old made it. Really excited about enjoying some sun and drinks at Dox until the check arrived and our "market value" lobster rolls were $30!! Each. I'm sorry but dry shredded lobster on a hot dog bun with greasy French fries should be illegal. The drink was not Patron for the money and even though Dana was friendly she stopped me after my husband paid the bill and asked if everything was OK. I smiled at her and she she said "You're boyfriend is cheap" . I was completely shocked that a server who did get a tip (16 % ) had the audacity to insult me like that. Not cool. read more
