Best kept secret is their Mussels over angel hair pasta. Absolutely the best I've had. They are hiding in the appetizer section. Portion is enough for 2 servings. Quinn behind the bar is one of the best in the business and I serve myself. I tried to get the owner Jeanne to give up her secret but no budging. Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This time I had one of those impressive looking Bloody Mary's. YUM. Did not disappoint. A trend I'm noticing at Doyles - it takes a while to get your food. Plan on waiting at least 30 minutes. Hubby had the Guiness Chili and I had a BLT Wrap. 30 minutes from ordering until the food was at the table. Also, it's a bit pricy for what it is. My BLT wrap was $10.99, other wraps are also $10.99 (which I can't understand why a grilled chicken sandwich is cheaper than a wrap). I felt really bad for the table next to us. 5 people dining - placing their order when we were being seated. When we left, they STILL had not received their food. Plan on being extremely patient for your food to arrive, or in the mood to dine at a leisurely pace. Despite the above, I'll stick with 3 stars. A-Ok. read more

My wife and I live about 20 minutes away and we've eaten here a half-dozen times or so as it's a mid-point between us and some friends of ours. We always sit in the bar area at one of the many high-top tables. Typically, our party includes six and our usual visit includes about an hour of cocktails and conversation before we order our meal. Service is efficient - and prompt, even when a few of our group members are drinking rather, ahem, steadily. We've sampled a pretty good portion of the menu here - including an average fish fry and most dishes are pretty good. I particularly liked one of the several grilled chicken wraps with which they kindly substituted mashed potatoes instead of fries upon my request. Burgers are pretty good here as well. Three in our party ordered the lasagna dinner the last time we were there and all three rated it below average - there was barely any pasta involved in the dish at all - it was better described as a gooey pile of cheese. Prices here are reasonable but they don't give anything away either - bar tabs involving pitchers of beer can add up very quickly - you might be better off drinking individual glasses as the pitchers seem a bit high priced. We'll be back - the atmosphere, food and service are all pretty consistently good. One caveat - the City seems to encourage its police officers to make sure the tickets they write more than cover their compensation on any given shift so be aware that a designated driver is highly recommended and that strict adherence to the speed limit - not 5 miles over it - is advisable. read more

Just got back from the "famous" fish fry at Doyle's. YIKES!!!!~ Fish was ok, I had broiled and the BF had fried. TARTER SAUCE???? I think NOT! It was more like dill spread that could have seasoned an entire catch of salmon in Alaska! When I told the waitress that it was a bit different she explained that it was home made. And that should make a difference???? Home made bad food is STILL bad food! There were two balls sitting on the plate that looked suspiciously like hush puppies - WRONG!!! I was married to a stump jumper for 17 years, I KNOW how to make hush puppies and these were soggy, mushy, dead dogs! Who cares about the atmosphere, just give me some good food, please!!! Went on Friday for supposed award winning fish fry of 2014. Maybe the broiled is what they meant because the fried cod batter was tasteless as was the meat of the fish. It didn't taste bad, just bland. Wings which are also highly rated were perfectly crispy and sauce didn't make them soggy. Very small wings for $12 however, looked like Cornish hen leg pieces. The taste was excellent though. However I find it odd that it cost $1.50 for one extra 1.5oz plastic cup of blue cheese. Only comes with one apparently... I saw some of the ribs come out which looked superb and I had buyers remorse after receiving fish and should have got the ribs. Oh and the coleslaw was the best I ever had. Very hearty diced slaw. In my mind award winning coleslaw contender. Eat downstairs in bar area to avoid kids screaming. Apparently some parents thinks its OK to allow kids (3 year old)to pierce our ears with whining while dining multiple times. I will never understand how waitresses think thats cute and "awwe" at that. Very rude. Find a sitter or go to McDonalds sheesh. I will go back though to try other things as they looked good, fish was just a disappointment. I could have battered up some fox river carp and it would have tasted better. read more

Doyle's is a great place for dinner. Their food is very good and prices are very reasonable. Service is good too. The last time I was here, Doyle's had a big steak on special for $17 which was excellent. I would dare say it blew away a good number of places, including Outback. My steak came exactly as ordered, and the service was excellent. During the summer, this place tends to get a good number of bikers (read: nice people who ride motorcycles, not the stereotypical criminal nasty guy). This tends to be a good sign because it means that they serve good food and have decent prices on both food and drink. As a side note, don't let the map fool you... Doyle's is on the corner of Mill and Rt. 12 I would recommend this place to everyone. Doubly so if you are looking for a family and rider friendly place for dinner. read more

Passed this place on the way home from Lake Geneva and decided to stop in for lunch. There were 4 adults and 5 kids and they were happy to seat us. The restaurant and bar area are warm and inviting. We sat upstairs where there is plenty of seating and a nice atmosphere. Although they had ran out of chicken fingers which the kids wanted, everything we had was quite good. I had a buffalo chicken wrap which hit the spot, the nachos are huge and good and the thin crust pizza is another item I'd recommend. Went to Doyle's Pub for the First time ever. This is a very clean, friendly atmosphere, with great food and an awesome selection in their bar. I haven't been to a bar yet that has taken so much pride into creating their drinks. The bartender that night was an amazing educated mixologist! I can recommend that the lighting in the bar section can be a little dimmer in the evening for more ambiance touch. The Waitress was excellent too! She was friendly, personable and on top of her game to replenishing you're cocktails. I started with a cabernet then went to a "Brandy old fashion sweet" they were excellent I had never had one until my friend recommended me to try this cocktail. For an appetizer we went with Potato skins that were fully loaded like they should be perfect amount for two. I highly recommend this dish. I definitely will visit this location again. I'm in a rut. Every time I go to Doyle's with my beloved, I get the bangers and mash, the pot roast dinner, or the chili. And I am happy in this rut! I leave here with a smile on my face 100% of the time. The 'mash' of the bangers and mash are not instant and taste divine paired with the mild and flavorful bangers, which are sausages. A side of baked apple wedges, perfectly seasoned, is the perfect sweet foil for the savory bangers. The pot roast is like my grandmother used to make, only I get so much on my plate, I get to take home leftovers...something that never happened with grandma! read more

The hostess seated us immediately. Out Waitress served us our drinks in record time. Also, our food was cooked perfectly and ready in under 10 minutes. I had a burger with fries, my Brother had the same. It was the pricey beer that caused me trouble. The server did not know the cost of a pint, or bottles for that matter. Instead of having her go and get the prices, I opted just to order a pint of harp. Little did I know that it was $6 for a room temperature small pint. It made me mad. The food was alright. Again, we just had burgers. We were accommodated with our sides of mayo and extra jalepenos. However, when finished, it did seem clear they wanted us to vacate as they kept asking if we needed anything else. I just wanted to chat with my Brother. I've stopped by here twice and plan to keep visiting. Each time the bartenders have been friendly, outgoing and have given me and my friends phenomenal service. This place also has some of the best handcrafted drinks around. They use fresh ingredients (mint, berries, etc) and the drinks are incredible. It's worth going for that reason alone. They had pretty standard pub food and had cider on tap. Service was fine, fast, and friendly. On Wednesday and on Saturdays they have corned beef and cabbage. One of the people we were with ordered it and it smelled and looked delicious. I should have ordered that. I ordered the Italian dipper sandwich and the beef could have been sliced thinner and it wasn't as tender as a normal beef sandwich. The appetizers we ordered - breaded mushrooms, potato skin wedges, and wings were good too. We only went here because we were visiting a friend in the area. Did not get to eat my food, so I have no idea if its any good, but I will not step foot back in there. Clearly she does not care about her customers. She had a burger with a gluten free but (which they toasted ) and I had the Michaelangelo Chicken sandwich with a gf bun, again toasted. Truely, a pleasant surprise. The food was good. Matt (the bartender, helpful and informative about the fresh homemade foods) I had the Pita Club, my wife had the hearty split pea soup and Pub salad. Did not disappoint. Flavor and quality of food was above average. Irish Pub atmoshere and fare. Wait time was a little long even though, no one was there except my wife and I. If I had a negitive, it would have been my drink (martini on rocks) was small (good) but small. We will definately be back! We decided to try something new in town last night that was in the same category as a sports bar. We stopped in (parking wasn't bad) and waited at least 5 minutes to be sat (but it was for an early dinner on a Thursday so I can't hold that against them with only her and bar taking tables and seating). She seats us at a high top and reviews some specials with us. I chose the sangria special which was surprisingly good as I'm not a red wine kind of person. He was asking about their split pea soup as he was scared it would be the prepackaged Campbell's like product with ham cubes. She let us know all of their soups are from scratch made daily by the owner. After she successfully upsold him, he was pleased with the soup and found real ham in it. Little cold for my taste perhaps. We then got the potato wedge appetizer which also passed a quality test with flying colors. Real, fresh potatoes that aren't fried, with real cheese and real bacon. I hate sour cream, but this was whipped and kind of tasted fresh and homemade as well (the homemade ranch is of quality too). At this point, we're pretty damn impressed with the quality. We chose to get the prime rib tacos (also on special), and that was hit or miss. The presentation was beautiful, the quantity was bountiful. The downsides we found to this meal was that the meat was bland, and the salsa unfortunately tasted prepackaged (my 1.5oz cup held one chunk of tomato from their salsa and nothing else). The little salsa I could use brought some good flavors to the tacos with a little lime flavor that it definitely needed. We decided it's probably on us for ordering tacos at an Irish place. Our check was reasonable for the amount of food we got, and we were definitely pleased with the overall quality of a home cooked, not frozen type of restaurant. I manage a restaurant, and there are a lot of quality indicators I look for when eating out and this was impressive. We'll be making a visit here again in the future I'm sure. read more

What pub closes the kitchen before 9pm on a Saturday? I should have just walked back out the door, but another waitress said they weren't closing and I was welcomed inside. Ordered a starter of $7 Mozzarella sticks. They were decent, but the menu doesn't state that the Marinara sauce that comes with them is an extra buck. So, $8 for Mozzarella sticks. Dinners ordered were the Corned Beef and Cabbage special (Which was full menu price... Some special, huh?) and a Steak sandwich. Both meals were disappointing to say the least. Steak sandwich is just a ribeye on a bun. Awful even after drowning it in A1. Corned Beef and Cabbage was probably the worst interpretation I've ever come across. You would think that an Irish pub eatery would be able to conjure up some Celtic pride. Everything about the Corned Beef and Cabbage was overcooked. Corned beef was tougher than leather, and the vegetables were flavorless mush. Service was awful for having 2 waitresses in a dining area with 6 tables.
