Fastest, no fuss oil change I've ever had. But what made me give 5 stars was the day I came to them with a flat in my BRAND NEW Costco tire (1 day old). These guys are awesome--called on a Saturday to see if they could change my battery after it mysteriously died in my 2012 car. I had just gotten a jump start so it had to be soon, but most places I called (including the dealership) said no or said it was a 2+ hr wait. These guys said to come on in when I called, took care of it immediately when I arrived, and the fees were no-nonsense. And the guy who did the work was smart and friendly. I had a slow leak in one of my tires. I called David and was told to bring my car in. Mike checked all the tires and found the leak and repaired it. Very pleased with the service which took about 15 minutes. I felt the cost was a little excessive, but would use DP again and recommend them to others. read more

I'll add my voice to the chorus of people here who rave about DP. The first time I had car problems, I went to the garage across the street from DP (thinking it was DP). Big mistake. The work was slow and super expensive, and when it was all over they started pushing me to get a whole bunch of additional repairs done. This time, when a bolt went through my tire on Reno Road, I got up bright and early the next morning and drove to DP. DP is quick, honest, and friendly. My only suggestion would be to get there early- the garage opened at 7:30 and I was there at 7:35 (with admittedly a quick and easy fix - $20 to have my tire patched). By the time I left, at 8am, the crowds were already building up. read more

Rolled up, he examined my car, found the nail I had missed, removed it, patched it and I was on my way for the low total of $30, didn't try to upsell me to get a new tire, or any other service. I went here for the first time this past Saturday. When I got there, the lot was full, in fact, I had a hard time pulling around the cars for gas. This is not to complain, but rather to say he's popular, to add some dramatic affect and to prep people a bit. I had gone through the reviews on Yelp first and thought, ok, I'll check out a guy associated with a Shell Gas Station. According to the reviews, DP just happened to like Yellow and White, too, so they fit well together. I needed an Oil Change. I hit the 3,000 mark miles ago and the 5,000 mark occured on my way back from Massachusetts, which set off the "Maintenance Needed" or whatever button. For all those who don't know, this usually means Oil Change, but of course feel free to freak out and give the mechanic millions of ways to sell you things you don't need. When I walked up, David was very busy. Two people had called in and a a very good friend, obviously, was there to help him out. He said to leave the car and he'll try to get to it this afternoon. There were at least 10, possibly 15 cars ahead of me. And this was at about 10:30 AM. I got a call around 1:30 pm to pick up my car. I did, and David was extremely friendly, had a smile on his face and gushed about how easy Toyota's are to maintenance. He really seems to love his job. I highly recommend this place, David was great and apparently has great friends. So, even if he looks busy, give him a try. read more

Came in for an oil change after comparing prices and reviews around town. It offered a fair DC price, $34.99. They were quick and helpful at doing the oil change and the usual inspection-tires, fluids, etc. They found an oil leak and potentially other oil leaks, and showed the leak to me. David is truly skilled and a master in auto diagnosis and repair. I've taken my 2008 and 2012 Hondas to his shop a few times for noises, brakes, and routine service and almost instantly, he tells me what's wrong and gets it fixed promptly and accurately. Finding a trustworthy auto shop is rare. I've been to the dealers, Midas, Merchants/NTB, Mr Tire, etc and I always feel they are trying to upsell unneeded services and don't give me the greatest confidence in their abilities. In contrast, DP Auto has won my trust with proven results. David and his team are true to their values of honesty and safety at reasonable cost. I only wish I had discovered them earlier! read more

Wonderful service. Twice I have showed up without an appointment to get a minor repair done. Once to replace a break light and the other time to reattach the rear break light to the rear windshield. Both times I was helped within 15 minutes and out of there in 30 minutes or less. I never feel like I am being talked down to or taken advantage of as a young woman. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I brought my car in for an oil change. When I came to pick it up, David tried to charge me over $90 (rather than the usual ~$45) because he did additional work on my car that I didn't ask for. I told him I wasn't going to pay the extra money and he was very condescending and passive aggressive as he said "ok, then you're getting this work for free." I repeated that I didn't ask for this additional work, so there was no reason for me to pay for it. He claimed to have been calling me "ALL DAY" but couldn't reach me, so he had no choice but to do the extra work without telling me. In reality, I had 2 missed calls with no voicemails. I returned his call after I saw the two missed calls and he told me my car was ready and didn't say anything about extra charges, aside from replacing windshield wipers, which costs a lot less than the extra charges (and which I also didn't ask for or agree to pay for). He sprung the rest of the charges on me when I arrived to pick up my car. To top it off, when I got to my car, I discovered that he left my lights on all day after and my battery was dead. Needless to say, I will not be going back there. read more

Fantastic! I have been going to David for over 5 years and he always takes care of my cars. I have him do routine auto work like oil changes etc.. However the part where he really stands out are for the big things you want him to fix and the things he discovers. I needed a car battery and it was done within a few hours. My brakes were just worn out, which I had a feeling it was, and I brought the car in only for the oil change. Dave called me and told me about the brakes and said not to spend the money now to fix the front ones and only do the rear brakes. He didn't steer me wrong. All I can say is he is honest, his workers really appreciate when you say thanks, and he will take care of your car for a reasonable price. Have no fear to bring the car to him. read more

This was my first time here and after doing much research, I settled upon this place. I took my Honda Civic Si in for a major repair. Turns out the clutch needed to be replaced. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case but after 100,000 miles of wear and tear, it was about time. David was able to replace it as well as recommend other work. I'm happy to say my car feels new again. The techs here really know what they're doing and its reassuring when I see customers know them on a first name basis. I brought my car in last week at 1130 am, because it was making a noise. They stopped what they were currently doing, put it on a machine and found the issue. The guys at DP are a great and hardworking group. They're not going to try to upsell you a bunch of stuff you don't need just so they can make an extra buck. It's great to have mechanics that don't make you feel pressured into making expensive decisions on the spot. They'll talk you through what they'd recommend and will always look to save you money where they can. For example, I went in for an oil change but they noticed I had a couple of issues on my KIA, one that was part of a recall and another that was under warranty. They told me to take it to the dealer where they would fix those issues for free instead of trying to convince me to pay for it at DP. Plus, it's really hard to beat a $30 oil change in this area. Like all the other reviews here I'm very pleased with the service! I dropped my car off on a Friday afternoon for a yelp deal for oil change. I could see they were busy and didn't need my car right away (and I live in the neighborhood) so I had indicated I can wait until the next day to get it. They had it ready by the end of the day! And they were still working hard even after hours to complete all the jobs they had. That's dedication! Also same experience as others, my tech went over recommendations to me but did not try to upsell their services to me at all which is always appreciated. But the most memorable part for me was that he reset my tire pressure sensor on his own. Everywhere else I had gone to try and get it fixed, I was told only the dealership could reset it and they would charge a steep price! (My car has two tire pressure sensors - one to tell me my pressure is low; the other to tell me one or more of my sensors may not be working, and it was this second one that I had had issues with for so long now!) For this act alone I would go back to this place for future car needs. read more

Most recently I went for a regular oil change before taking a long drive to OBX with family riding along. David and his staff took excellent care to ensure we had a safe trip. I'm a car guy. As a car guy, I tend to be suspicious of auto shops because I have usually convinced myself that "I can totally do that in the driveway". This strategy works most of the time, but in today's case I was totally defeated. Rust and time stood between me and removing a CV axle, and I just didn't have any more patience. With reluctance, I called DP auto and got what seemed like a suspiciously reasonable quote. Dropping the car off, the gentlemen in the office assured me that "We'll get it out of there." Lo and behold, he did, and upon returning to pick up my car his quote on the phone was the price I paid. Sometimes my suspicions are wrong.
