I'm from out of town and this Dairy Queen location was close to where I was currently working. So I decided to come here out of convenience. I pulled up to the drive thru speaker and waited for a good 10 minutes and still no response. After that, I drove up to pick up window. I saw two employees in the restaurant not doing anything. So I drove around and parked in the front of the building, got out of my vehicle and went to go order inside. The door was locked and the sign on the door said "Closed; Will return at 11am. Not very clean at all. Not one worker smiled or had any manners to show. They were playing (loudly) what sounded like homemade rap music that blasted through the restaurant our entire visit. After I heard the fifth curse word in one minute, I asked them to turn it down because my daughter didn't need to hear it, and the lovely, probably high, cashier said, "Well, it looks like you're about to leave, so....." The food is subpar and the service is horrendous. I will never stop at this location. The cashier was rude. We pay your paycheck, try being nice and smile. The blizzards were half full. Half the restaurant is blocked off, so you're forced to be stuffed with other families. Shouting peoples numbers instead of using number cards like all the other DQs just shows poorly run location. I have PTSD from coming to this Dairy Queen. Jaba the Hut was manning the counter and slurred her speech and was yelling at us for not understanding her non sense. Employees were falling asleep. The ceiling was leaking all over the place and instead of fixing the roof they put wet floor signs everywhere. Employees in the bathroom didn't wash their hands. Overall this was the worst experience of my life and it easily could have been filmed as a bad comedy show. read more

Have been to the Dairy Queen in Cherokee, NC twice. The first time was to get a blizzard. They said it was near closing time and they didn't want to get the machinery dirty and would not make a blizzard. The second time occurred after we downloaded the DQ app on our phone. The DQ app gave us a free blizzard, the proprietor stated they do not honor coupons. There will never be a third time. read more

While visiting the lovely small town of Cherokee we stopped in for ice cream when we saw the DQ sign. Lots of staff to serve customers. They were efficient but not actually friendly. Orders were taken quickly and items arrived quickly and to our delight tasted just like they do back home. However, this place needs a deep clean. Tables and floors were sticky. Outdoor seating area needs a good pressure washing. The restrooms were some of the filthiest we have ever seen during our travels. read more

Unbelievable. I only go to Dairy Queen for ice cream. The minute I stepped in the door I seemed to be a bother. It got worse from there. The blond gal who waited on me was hostile at me for smiling and ordering a blizzard. I have never seen such ugly customer service in my life. This was like the shop of horrors. There was an older woman who I assumed was the manager based on the bantering that was going on and she was rude to the drive up customers. So, the quintessential blizzard can be inverted and still remain in its container. The melty, sloppy mess served to me was the worst blizzard ever. They should have given me a straw instead of a spoon! Two stars. One for actually being a dairy queen, the second for having a restroom. If a machine is broken, don't pretend. I just moved here to Cherokee. Wanting a blast from DQ at around 6:30. My boyfriend goes out in the rain to get me one and he goes on the drive through and no one answers so he goes inside and has to yell more than twice to get anyone attention. They then turn around and say they are closed. What store closes at 6:30 durning dinner hours. So he calls me and I call the store and the lady who answered the phone was very rude and did not seem like she wanted to answer any of my questions. If you are looking to get hepatitis A B or C this is the place for you. It is filthy. The restrooms are horrible, there were buckets throughout the restaurant catching water from the ceiling, there were homeless folks hanging out in the lobby, and the employees were not friendly. I'm sure at one time, when this town was booming, this was a nice restaurant, but now not so much. I think DQ headquarters forgot about this location. It was a very slow evening. A couple of people inside and a couple of people in the drive-thru. Both the dining area and behind the counter were filthy. The people behind the counter were running around like it was the noon rush. There were several hand written signs hanging from the menu with "rules" such as you can't get sauce with french fries, whatever that means. I placed my order (a blizzard) and gave him my money. He didn't say a word about when I'd get my order so I assumed he'd make it and hand it to me. While I was waiting, someone came in and complained that their order was wrong. They frantically made him another sundae or whatever it was. They made orders for several other people. I was finally handed my blizzard. I took it out to my car. There was no way I was eating it in that place. They mixed the wrong ingredient in my blizzard. I thought about taking it back in and complaining but instead, drove away, never to return. read more

Stopped here two days ago for a quick bite and ice cream before heading back to Gatlinburg, TN. Not much to pick from in town, but how could you go wrong with Dairy Queen right!!? Started with ordering 3 chili hot dogs for my husband and I. We were with another couple traveling. We were surprised with how long we had to wait (wasn't busy). We had the opportunity to watch the people working. Two of them were watching us, watching them. Awkward, so we went to use the bathrooms, not the cleanest. On top of it all, took bite of hot dog and looked back down at my sandwich while chewing and quickly spit it out (and tried not to vomit). The roll was covered in green mold! It I had thought more about it, I should've taken a picture. I took it up to the counter and said, "the roll to my hot dog is covered in mold, how did the person making this, not see the mold??". All I got was a "sorry, I will make you another one". I believe this person was the manager on duty. Believe me, I inspected the heck before eating. I would've thought I would've gotten my dessert free, but no. I hate making a spectacle or a scene. But what happened to customer service? This place is covered in tourists and with social media being what it is, no place is safe from a bad review.
