Ordered my usual blizzard with hot fudge mixed in, instead of the typical chocolate sauce. Male who took my order was new and was trying to understand my order before placing it, which I appreciated. There were two girls working as well at the time, and one of them made my order. When my order was called, I then brought the blizzard to a table inside the DQ to eat, I took two-three bites and it immediately turned to mush. It was watery as if it was sitting for 20 minutes. I didn't understand as I said I order it this way all the time. I dug my spoon a bit deeper and noticed that there was hot fudge pooled in the middle and hadn't been mixed in at all. Any blizzard lover knows you enjoy a blizzard for its lovely thick texture. So, I wasn't pleased. I went to the counter to ask why it was this way. The girl who made the blizzard told me that it was because I ordered a hot fudge "core," I was confused as I didn't even know there was such a way to order it, and told her that's not how I ordered it. I explained that all I wanted was to replace the fudge for the chocolate sauce and still have it blended in. She then told me if I just mix it withy spoon it would be the same. I was appalled and shocked! Not only was it not how I ordered it, but then to tell me that if I mix it with the spoon, it would be the same as compared to their blender was quite ridiculous in my mind. Remember, it was already watery/melted. There was no offer to remake it how I ordered it. Just, this is how it is, use your spoon. After that short conversation, I went back to the table I was sitting at, and I saw the two girls, go in behind the counter and heard them speaking about me. Basically saying how ridiculous it was of what I was saying. After that, I was quite bothered. Yet, I still wanted my blizzard how I usually get it as that's what I had gone there for. So, I ordered and PAID with the male again, and I just decided to ask the male for the phone number to speak to a manager, or someone of upper management material. One of the girls went to make the order, and as he told her I was asking for the phone number, or name of the person in charge, she handed it to him and went in the back. And yet again, I could hear the two girls start to speak AGAIN about me in a tone of irritation and no respect. The male completed my order and handed me the new blizzard, which was the right texture (from start to finish). The staff at the time were all young. The females didn't have the maturity, customer service knowledge, and etiquette of how to communicate with a customer that would allow for a person to get what they paid for (twice). This all could have been resolved had I been listened to in what I ordered and was asking for, and by having respect for a customer and putting effort instead of attitude into work ethic. I want to be sure to add the male was very calm, helpful, respectful, and understanding the entire time. *I wish I would have taken pictures to post on here. read more

All workers are very polite including owners I never went there till my old brothers visited introduced me after that I'm hooked !! They have very nice treat and all kind of choice . I haven't had soft serve from Dairy Queen in years and when I saw this in the Kona Commons Shopping Center, I got super excited. The shop is small but it's clean and they have a few tables inside. There were 3 small groups in front of me but I got my desserts pretty quickly. There were 2 people working; one person to take order and the other was making the order. After so many years, the soft serve still tasted amazing. If my stay in Kona was longer, I would have gone back on another night to get the chocolate dipped cone. read more

Aloha! That's it! This business is running 75 years. It has it's ups and downs, but it's nice they are still in the business. I ordered the original Otange Julias and it was good. My friend who tried this product 50 years ago said, that it tastes exactly like a last time he tried. I'm not sure if I would be back, because it's not my thing, but why not for someone else!!! There were three people working here but the cashier is making the cones while the two other employees are in the back bantering. I ordered a chocolate cone and was handed a vanilla cone dipped in chocolate. When I explained I had that was not what I ordered she said we don't have just chocolate ice cream so this is what you get instead. If I had known that, I would've ordered something else. I was a blizzard virgin and DQ blew my mind with my first time, lol, thanks DQ! I got the candy cane and chocolate seasonal blizzard in LARGE (because, why not ?) and I was really surprised how good it was. I kind of look down on DQ for being so last century but I stand corrected. Before they serve it they do kind of a weird thing where they shake it upside down for you to prove how thick it is, I guess if the spoon falls out you get it free or something?? I didn't really understand what they were doing or how it benefitted me to have them shake it upside-down like that but it is kind of an interesting part of their culture. I guess there were previous complaints about it not being thick enough so now they're like "ohh, yeah, you don't think we know what we're doing, watch this bee-otch, I'm a gonna shake it upside down right in front of you. They're located in Kona Commons and I believe that they're the only dessert place in the area--well, besides the desserts from McDonalds across the street. Anyways? Dairy Queen/Orange Julius have great blizzards. I like to order their cookie dough one and I just love it when they turn it upside down lol. When they turn it upside down, it's weirdly so exciting to me haha. I also love their original Orange Julius drink too. It's a really great twist on orange juice and a sweet treat that'll cool you down. I don't usually order "real food" from them, but I actually really do like their hot dogs. I don't think I've ever tried one of their birthday cakes before, but I like to stare at their cake designs lol. Oh and their chocolate dipped cone is super good too! I will start this one positive, the ice cream and smoothies were yummy! Reason for the one star? We walked in around 8:40 (they close at nine). We ordered. The girl taking our order didn't seem so thrilled that we walked in 20 minutes to closing. Did not greet us, smile at us, or even thank us actually she barely even made eye contact. So we sit down and wait for our desserts. 3 of them came out and while we were waiting for the last one we hear the girl at the register say that they're taking the last order (it was only 8:50). Then they turned off some of the lights in the dining room. Ok? Last dessert came and we decided to just stay until we were finished eating. At around 8:57 a couple walks in and the guy in the back tells them, "sorry we took our last order already." Then at 9 on the dot the girl from the register walks up to us and tells us that they're closed and we have to go and eat it outside. Mind you there were 3 other parties in the dining room eating their desserts. I have worked at many restaurants, bars, customer service in general and I personally would never turn down business especially when they weren't even closed and then kick everyone out right when the clock hits 9. I have never had this happen to me before. Usually the establishments will let paying customers at least finish their food before giving them the boot. I noticed the men kept busy cleaning the ice cream machines and the windows. I was impressed to see that they washed their hands!
