Dr. Bennett and Shyla were compassionate, patient and so incredibly empathetic when it came time to say good bye to our sweet boy who unfortunately had stage 4 kidney disease. They gave us some comfort in what was heart wrenching decision.

Dr. Bennet and Deedee were amazing! We don't like taking our cats to the vet because when one of them comes home it becomes a nightmare of growling and hissing for a week! My cat Nini had a bad case of head shakes so thought she may have an infection. Dr. Bennet scheduled me quickly and arrived within the time he stated. During the exam Nini escaped from his grasp and went under the bed and instead of giving up and rescheduling he was able to get her out and exam her. She has ear allergies and recommended medication and informed me of all potential side effects. He also recommended an elimination diet which we will try duck only for a week/month to see if she was allergic to chicken or salmon. He was also able to wrangle my other cat Lamber (in photo) to check on him during the same appointment! Highly recommend Dr. Bennet for all your pets needs!

Love you bro. Hope to see you again someday.

If hospitalization isn't necessary, a Vet that does house calls is for me the way to go. Dr. Bennett and his team were great today. I'm going to take a little break but I want Dr. Bennett to take care of my next best friend from the beginning until the end. And to Dr. Bennett, Thank you for taking care of my best friend Bub today.

I feel entirely comfortable with every vet and technician I meet--it's always clear they have thoroughly reviewed Coltrane's records before even walking into the examination room. During our appointment yesterday, vet tech Ana not only took incredible care of my pup, but she also patiently answered a handful of random questions I'd been saving up for our annual visit in August. Everyone on the staff is incredibly well-trained and knowledgeable. From a user standpoint, the technology is a game-changer. Being able to seamlessly schedule appointments through the app or get quick advice via virtual care--often saving us an unnecessary in-person trip--is a massive benefit. Vet care is a frequent topic of conversation among pet parents, and I always find myself recommending Modern Animal. While veterinary costs are high everywhere these days, the value here is unmatched compared to my previous vet. Having access to multiple locations across the Bay Area (especially crucial if an urgent issue pops up) combined with 24/7 virtual care makes it worth every penny. With their recent merger with Chewy--a company renowned for stellar customer service--I have high hopes that this exceptional level of care and community focus will continue. Highly recommend!

Disclaimer: this review is based off a single brief but poignant experience we had with them, and not as a long-term client of theirs. Our beloved pup died suddenly and very unexpectedly in Spring and in our shock we were at a loss of how to handle everything post-passing. We brought him into Muller at our neighbor's recommendation to discuss cremation and after-care. The staff here are beyond kind, empathetic, patient, and warm. I credit the amazing staff here for helping turn a traumatic experience for our family with 2 young kids into a goodbye that was bittersweet, not rushed, and comfortable. They care for pets, alive and passed, yes, but from what we've seen, they also care for the people whose lives they are/were a part of. This is what an animal hospital should be!

My feline companions also expressed discontent with the previous location. In contrast, my experience at the Walnut Creek location has been vastly different. My cats have developed a positive rapport with the staff here. Even my Kimber, who generally dislikes veterinary visits, is able to tolerate the staff. This is consistent with her personality, as she is affectionate at home and enjoys interacting with everyone, but experiences anxiety when placed in a crate and taken for a car ride, both of which she dislikes. My sweet girl fell ill and was diagnosed with kidney disease. The staff was exceptional throughout the entire experience and process of the passing of my beloved Joy. They demonstrated remarkable compassion and thoroughly explained each step. I cannot imagine navigating this difficult time without the staff's support.

Let me tell you about loyalty…read more Fourteen years. That's how long my dog Bella trusted Banfield. That's how long I trusted Banfield. And y'all fumbled her in the end. Everything was "fine" when she was young. Easy cases, routine visits, collect the check, keep it moving. But the moment Bella got old--when she actually needed real care, that's when the cracks showed. No, not cracks... the whole system collapsed. You suspected cancer of the tongue. You pushed a $300 test. I said yes because this is my dog, my family. Meanwhile, a specialist tells me that test can't even give real answers. But guess what? My money was already gone. Then you come back with, "Good news, no cancer!" Oh really? Because when I bring her back, after she sits in a crate ALL DAY, you hit me with: "Oh...the test is inconclusive." So what exactly was the good news? Because from where I'm standing, that was confusion wrapped in a bill. Fast forward. Bella is struggling. Constipated, uncomfortable, clearly declining. I call for help. And what do you recommend? Psilocybin. Yes. That psilocybin. Like I'm supposed to go pick up psychedelic mushrooms for my dying dog. I checked Target. CVS. Nothing. I call back, you double down. I go to a pharmacist, they look at me like I've lost my mind. Turns out you meant something like Metamucil. So now I'm grieving and fact-checking my vet? And let's talk about access, because every time I called, I'm sitting on hold for 20 minutes like I'm trying to win concert tickets. This is a veterinary office. Not a radio station. Now we get to the day. Bella's last day. I bring her in for a follow-up, and the front desk is asking me about dermatitis. Dermatitis? My dog is declining, and y'all are reading from the wrong script. Disorganized. Rude. Confused. No awareness of the moment. Then comes the hardest decision I've ever had to make. The vet recommends euthanasia. I say yes. And a few hours later, my 8-year-old daughter and I are saying goodbye to someone we loved for 14 years. We paid for keepsakes--her fur in vials. Something small to hold onto. They ask if we want to wait. We can't. We're shattered. We choose to have it mailed. Weeks go by. Nothing. So now, in the middle of grief, I have to chase you down. You say, "Oh, it's ready--but we can't mail it because it's breakable." So the option you gave me... was never actually an option? I go in--reluctantly--because the whole point was not having to come back. And what do I walk into? More confusion. They can't find the fur. They're looking for the card. The card isn't even in an envelope. Nothing is prepared. Nothing is handled with care. Nothing is handled with dignity. Nothing is handled like this was someone's family member. Let me tell you the difference. I canceled an appointment with Bella's ophthalmologist--a doctor who barely knew her--and told them she passed. Within a week, they sent a condolence card. They donated to University of California, Davis in her name. That's what compassion looks like. That's what professionalism looks like. Banfield? You had 14 years with Bella. And when it mattered most--you showed me exactly what that loyalty meant to you. Nothing. Banfield stinks.

I was scared to hand her over because I didn't trust that I'd actually get her ashes back (I fear some places lump all pet ashes together). I called all over the bay area and no one gave me enough confidence until I spoke to Dr. Ramos from P.E.R. She actually spent a lot of time hearing me out, then making calls to ensure all of my fears were just that- fears. I was treated with respect and kindness. When I brought my baby to the center I was given space and time with her to grieve before she was taken. This was much harder than expected so their set up and process was appreciated. The team was very communicative and helpful. When her ashes were returned to me a couple of weeks later, I was extremely touched that they felt moved by my baby's story and had kindly added little treasures that I will always cherish.
