My first time here and it was great My daughter loves this place It was a bit busy but we were able to find a seat at the counter after placing our order You order and pay first Service was great we received our food pretty quickly Everything was delicious I really enjoyed my food I would definitely go back again
I used to come here fairly often many years ago, and came back for the first time in awhile. Verdict is it's just as good, just more expensive of course! The blackened chicken is cooked well and juicy. The mixed veggies and couscous are what you'd expect. Not very flavorful on their own but that's sort of expected. The tomato pesto adds enough flavor for me. It was enough food probably for two meals if you stretch it or add more protein at home. Overall if you're looking for a healthy lunch or dinner this is a great spot and you won't be disappointed. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating, and service is quick and friendly... And it's in the village so tons of stuff to do around.
Dr Grubb's has perfected the basics which makes is very easy to understand their menu and to enjoy a healthy, delicious meal. Basically, pick a protein and a base/side and a sauce. Boom! Perfection! I had the chicken and potatoes and my wife had steak and vegetables. Both were great. The lemon garlic sauce was otherworldly. Go here. Get Grub. Leave happy and full.
The owner and staff here are AWESOME. The service was honestly some of the best I've had, and everyone was so friendly that it felt like being around longtime friends. The food is delicious, and you really can't skip the salmon or the chicken for your protein. Make sure to try the potatoes and the penne pasta at least once, especially with the jalapeño garlic sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious. Between the great food, welcoming atmosphere, and genuinely kind people, this place really stands out. The prices are super reasonable for the portions and quality, and I would definitely come back again and again and again and again!
Dr. Grubb's is located in the Claremont Village. Parking can be a challenge. Small parking lot behind the restaurant shared with other businesses. On that Friday night, I ended up parking at the nearby Bank of America lot where everybody else was parking. Wowza, Dr. Grubb's is one hot and healthy grab-n-go and/or sit-n-chill restaurant to eat at on any given day of the week! Lots of inside bench style and bar stool seatings plus romantic patio seating. Self-serve fountain drink station with tea options. You grab your own utensils and condiments. I love the self-service concept! Menu offers a well balanced variety of proteins such as chicken, salmon, shrimp, steak, and tofu along with solid good sides in rice, veggies, pasta, and salad plus a unique blend of sauces of your choice. You may get them in combo or a la carte style. Cool beans! Blackened salmon with baby potatoes and vegetable medley was personally recommended by the owner, Hader. He was super friendly and very hospitable. His overall staff was exceptional, too. Thank you sir for the amazing meal + drink! The entire plate did not disappoint. Huge thin slab of flaky, tender, and moist blackened salmon on top of the best two sides... perfectly steamed sweet veggies featuring zucchini, carrots, green beans, baby corn, and broccoli and well seasoned roasted baby potatoes with fresh herbs and spices. Tasted so good! I wanted more of it. Highly recommend! I couldn't help myself and ordered one more blackened salmon plate with vegetable medley and penne pasta to-go. My eldest daughter loved it! At a recent Yelp event, we had Dr. Grubbs catering. We were offered a complimentary meal from the manager at the event, so my friend and I recently came by to redeem our meal after a long morning hike. We found the restaurant pretty easily, but parking is another issue. I guess it doesn't help that we came on a Sunday when we were competing with patrons of the Claremont farmers market down the street. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating indoors and out. The menu is pretty simple: pick a protein, a side (or 1/2 and 1/2) and a house made sauce. I LOVE that the prices were fair and portions were good - I'm sure the local college kids appreciate that too. They also offer a variety of beer and wine. Self serve fountain drinks are available for purchase or with a meal. My friend got the grilled shrimp with vegetables and penne pasta, and I got the blackened shrimp with vegetables and brown rice. I got the jalapeño garlic sauce with my meal. The shrimp arrives with 6 shrimp on a skewer. The staff was kind enough to offer us samples of different sauces to try (Lemon Thyme Vinaigrette, Lemon Garlic, Garlic Apple Aioli, and Jalapeño Garlic), but I have to say that jalapeño garlic is still my favorite! The food is really good, and honestly tastes very fresh and home made - like something I make in my own kitchen. Service was super friendly, they were quick to come by and wipe down a table for us, and various staff came by a few times to check on us. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu!
After tasting their delicious food at an Elite Yelp event, I knew I had to come to the restaurant to try their other food. We ordered the Meyer's Flat Iron Steak, the Fire Grilled Shrimp, and the Blackened Chicken. All were so delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. It was a bit of a wait for our foods, but it was worth it. They were a bit busy the night we came for dinner. But the staffs were very friendly and that made up for it. You order the food at the front counter and they bring the food to your table. They have a bar seating. Several tables inside. They also have a nice outdoor seating with heaters for the cold nights. The restaurant is nice and clean. Will definitely come back again. Next time, I'm going to try their Asian Salad. Looks yummy.
We came by to redeem a voucher we were given by the owner from a previous Yelp Event. It was for a free entrees of choice. The location is in heart of the downtown Claremont. We found some parking in the back of the restaurant. The restaurant is lively and energetic. There's bar seating and a lot of tables. We opted for the blackened shrimp and the blackened salmon. We also ordered extra items to help support the business. The plates of food are generously portioned. Their food is specialized in healthy eating. I appreciated the grill marks on the shrimp. The proteins, veggies and rice were all cooked and seasoned well. For a healthy dish, this wasn't bland. They offer sauces that complement the dishes as well. Although the blackened shrimp was good, I found myself wanting to reach over and eat more my husband's Blackened Salmon dish. I recommended Dr. Grubb's and I'd come by again to pay full price an another plate of food.
Dr Grubb's was legit! My wife and I came by to redeem a complimentary meal voucher from the owner from a previous Yelp Event. The location is at Claremont Village and we found some parking behind the business at a BofA since it was after hours. You enter and order at the register and they will bring the food to you. The staff here were unbelievably friendly and kind. We ordered another side and a drink to support the business as well. The location has a bar and many tables. There's plenty of TVs for sports and music playing so the vibe is upbeat. We got the Blackened Salmon, Blackened Shrimp with sides of Herb Brown Rice & Broccoli. Sauces we chose were the Tomato Pesto, Jalapeno Garlic & Lemon Garlic. We also got a side of Bowtie Pasta. The pasta was served literally within seconds. Our entrees were delivered shortly after. These entrees were so appetizing and the whole plates were full. My Blackened Salmon was amazing. The flavor and charring was on point. The portions were hefty and we ended up having leftovers. The health conscious entrees most definitely delivered. It doesn't feel like you're sacrificing all the flavors to make each dish "healthy". The food was really that good. I highly recommend coming by to Dr. Grubb's for great tasting healthy food! I look forward to eating here again. ( ^_^)b
After attending a Yelp event and trying out Dr. Grubb's, it was so good, I had to come back! We came for dinner on a Thursday night prior to attending a movie premier in the area and Dr. Grubb's was busy but luckily we did not have to wait for a table. I order the blackened salmon combo which comes with a side (baby potatoes) but you can split it and get two sides so I also chose couscous and a sauce (jalapeno garlic). WOW, that blackened salmon was amazing. Now I know to get everything blackened. We also order the herb chicken and regretted not getting the blackened chicken instead. The sides were pretty generous and had some leftovers to take back. Friendly and attentive service. Parking in free lots are available in the back. Highly recommend and would definitely be back.
New menu on the wall. Delicious as always, grilled salmon, broccoli and penne pasta-- I meant to order blackened salmon but it's been awhile so I forgot. It was ready in 20 minutes for pickup and the staff that greeted me was so smiley and helpful that I felt very welcomed and glad to have decided to order takeout tonight. The jalapeño garlic and lemon garlic sauce are the best! Pretty full and busy at dinner time tonight-- so glad they continue to do well! Glad to have healthy options for takeout!
My friend and I came to redeem our complimentary meal from a Yelp Event. It was a perfect meal after a long hike in the Claremont Wilderness. The sampling was delicious at the Yelp Event and even better at the restaurant. My friend and I both ordered shrimp (grilled and blackened) as our protein with veggies, brown rice, and penne pasta (so good) as our two sides. The sides were very generous. For our sauce, we ordered the jalapeño garlic and garlic aioli (my favorite). The staff was very friendly and attentive. They came around twice to check on us. Our food came out quite fast. Highly recommend and need to come back with my family.
Located near downtown Claremont. This casual spot was easy to get to and I had no trouble finding street parking. I ordered the flat iron steak with the 2 split sides herb brown rice and penne pasta. I really want to try their bow tie pasta, next time! The jalapeño garlic sauce was amazing, and the tomato pesto was just as delicious. I could drench everything in their sauces. I do wish the steak portion was a bit bigger, but it was cooked pretty decent, and not tough or dry at all. I also loved that they serve beer and have a bar-top area to sit. Received my meal quick and cashier was very friendly!

Dinner out with a group of teens. It was great to have so many options formatted in a simple way. Pick your protein, side and sauce. We had blackened shrimp and veggies with brown rice and lemon vinaigrette sauce, several of the group had the blackened tofu over pasta and vegetables or rice and veggies. The food was fresh and healthy, but tasty. The sauces were fun and added a creative twist to the meal. The person taking orders was cheerful and helpful in explaining how to approach the menu and wait staff checked in on what else was needed. Holy moly. My friend showed me this place and it turned out to be a gem. I pulled up and the lady helping me out was super helpful, I didn't know know where to start and she recommended I get the blackened chicken with a garlic apple aoli. I ate it in like 5 minutes, it was so good, and she let me know if I didn't like the sauce I could get another. I also got the grilled cheese dippers with an amber ale from Pomona--it was perfect. Come to Dr Grubb's if you want a balanced and healthy meal. My boyfriend and I get the combo plate, which comes with one protein, one side, and one sauce. For proteins, we've tried the Meyer's flat iron steak, blackened salmon, and chicken satay. All options are good. The salmon they give you is sliced really thinly, though, so you don't get a big piece. Overall, our meals have been tasty. read more

This is the only time we can tell my daughter we're going to the doctor's and she'll be happy. Been coming here for years and it's always exceptional. The star of the show, in my opinion, is the shrimp, but everything is great. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean. Definitely my favorite kind of doctor's visit. read more
I visited here Sunday afternoon with a friend and it was quite packed, but we were still able to find seats. I ordered the blackened salmon with vegetables and pasta and it was fantastic! This place was a lot different then what I am used to. I like how it is quite simple, to order what you want. If you want Salmon and Pasta, they have it. If you want a Salmon Salad you can do that too. Although they have many different items to make different combo's , it is quite easy to be able to get something for everyone. I am reviewing this place from my experience with take out. Ordering was quite easy the two times I have been here. The people working here seem to know their menu quite well and is able to give recommendations if needed. Food Again like I mentioned, everything me and my family ordered was quite good. The only thing is that it could add to be a bit pricey once you get multiple items. Meters Flat Iron steak with Penne Pasta- The steak was quite tasty and tender, and great with their Garlic Apple Aioli. Would order this again! The tomato Penne pasta was really good as well. Blackened Salmon with Herb White Rice- This is for anyone that likes the Salmon a bit more cooked to crisp hence the name, but it was quite good with lots of flavor Fire-Grilled Atlantic Salmon Salad - The grilled salmon was quite nice, and cooked just right Grilled Cheese Dippers- Wow this is so good, I only wish that there was actually more of the dip or I should say tomato basil soup. I didn't ask if they sold it by the bowl, but definitely going to ask next time. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take any pictures due to us being so hungry, the pictures would have all been half eaten boxes. Glad this place exists and like I mentioned before, it makes it easier to find something that everyone can enjoy. I used to love this restaurant and recommended it often, but after eating there recently, I'm truly disappointed. My husband picked up takeout, and I ordered the grilled salmon with broccoli. While eating at home, I found something that looked like a caterpillar on one of the broccoli stems after just a few bites. It was extremely upsetting and suggests the vegetables weren't cleaned properly. My husband called the restaurant to let them know, but no refund was offered--they simply said they would talk to their cook. I'm honestly disgusted. After a Saturday morning work out with my Barre Bestie, we decided to grab a healthy lunch. She suggested Dr Grubb's as one of her favorite spots for eating clean. Located on the north end of the Claremont Village area, they have a small private lot in the back or street parking and public lots within walking distance. The interior has bar seating, table seating and patio seating available. You order and pay at the cashier and they give you a number for you to self seat. My friend recommended getting the combo meal with a protein, 2 sides and a sauce. I opted for the Blackened Salmon ($16.99) with the garden salad, vegetable medley with the honey balsamic. So funny because we ordered separately and ended up mostly the same order except the sauce. We also get a zero sugar Sparking Ice drink ($2.50). Super self serve concept as you grab your own utensils and condiments as you desire. It's nice if you don't like being bothered by wait staff since we were able to enjoy our meal and chat uninterrupted. The salmon was flavorful but still felt like and healthy. I enjoyed the vegetable medley and probably could have done without the garden salad which I barely touched. I think the overall concept is meant to be generally healthy. When I look at the menu there wasn't anything I wanted to eat but it was more like ugh I should eat this, it's healthy for me. Today my husband and I were going out for lunch. I'm definitely more adventurous and always want to try places we've never been. He's more of a why fix it if it ain't broke type - going to the same places over and over. Chalk another win in my column because we found Dr. Grubbs today. Upon walking in, we met Hady, the owner. Such a nice man suggesting options for us since he learned that we had never been before. I started by ordering the blackened chicken but switched to blackened salmon upon his recommendation. My husband got the blackened chicken so it was a win-win because I got to also taste his chicken. Both were delicious! Along with the salmon I opted for the potatoes and steamed veggies. My husband got the penne pasta and potatoes. Everything was so tasty! Hady's outstanding customer service didn't end at the ordering counter. He came over to our table and brought us some of their different sauces to try. Hady also chatted with us for a few minutes and checked to make sure we were happy with our orders. He is very friendly and personable which is HUGE in the food service industry. Not many restauranteurs seem to care anymore which is such a shame! So happy that we stopped into Dr. Grubb's! We will definitely be back again! You should check it out! The food is AMAZING! **side note, usually I refrain from ordering mixed veggies at restaurants because they are often mushy--not at Dr. Grubb's. My veggies still had snap and crunch to them. If there's any complaint I have for this place, it's the music. The music playlist in the kitchen is fire vs. what's played out from. I totally get that they have to play what they do without saying much. The food here is phenomenal! Every bite is flavorful. Restaurant quality food in a speedy fashion here. You pay before you're served and you also refill your own drinks, so I'm not sure that this qualifies as a restaurant or fast food. I'd say this place serves restaurant quality food at a fast food pace. However, the flavor and taste is way beyond fast food. Just using this as an example for how fast the food is served. By all means, does not compare because the food is served so fast. The menu options here is a hard choice. Everything sounds so wonderful here. I tried the blackened chicken with pasta and my boyfriend had chicken teriyaki plate that look delicious. Drink options are your standard fountain drinks and ice tea options. I used to absolutely love Dr. Grubbs. This was maybe 5 years ago when they had the smaller location (same space where they are now, but I believe they obtained the space next door as well now) Years ago, I loved the simplicity of the menu and how fresh and just tasty everything was. It was simple before chicken, sauce, rice, and veggies. You can still get that stuff now but they have just added so many other things to where it's just not the same. Both the quality, taste, and service is just not great to me anymore. I recently went with a group and my food was just okay. I will most likely not be back here. However, I will add they have an appetizer that is slices of grilled cheese Sandwiches and tomato soup to dip and that was honestly really really good. Healthy Check !!!! Pretty good place in Claremont. If your looking for something healthy and watching your weight , the portions are pretty good with that. Hi Samantha, most of our food is cooked lighty with soybeans oil except both pastas with olive oil. The only item on the menu that contains butter would be the Grilled Cheese Dippers.
