Decent Philly cheese steak, nothing like what you can get in Philly but at least someone is trying.

It had a classic charming brewery vibe with a wide selection of beer and cocktails. We had the wings, fried pickles, nutty wedge salad, double double burger and fried buffalo chicken sandwich. Every single item we tried was a 10/10 and had huge portions! The servers were also so welcoming, friendly, attentive, and helpful! I cannot recommend this place enough :)

Several tables were full on a Friday at 1:30, which we took as a good sign! Shortly after we sat down, we were greeted by our waitress, who also seemed to be the bartender and the busser. There were a few dirty tables that stayed that way the entire time we were there, and I honestly think she was just overwhelmed trying to do everything herself. Service was okay, but she definitely seemed stretched pretty thin. We both ordered the Fiddy Fiddy Burger, and it was packed with flavor. The fries came out hot and crispy, which is exactly how fries should be. My only complaint really comes down to personal preference--I'm a smash burger girl and prefer a thinner patty. This was definitely a thicker burger than I normally go for, but all in all, it was an excellent burger. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again. Sometimes a random Yelp find turns out to be a good one!

[Format & Space] Seat yourself*, review the menus at the table, order at the bar, they bring your food and drinks to your table. *Plenty of tables, some with long benches, others with chairs on the inside. There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. [Location] Tucked in a busy shopping center with Safeway as an anchor. Parking hasn't been super problematic yet, but based on one of the other reviewers (Ron R - loved your formatting too, so I borrowed it until we get rich text formatting or emojis!) I can see where it could be a challenge.

Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!

It's definitely a brewpup/taproom and has taproom vibes and service. Very clean space. Love sitting on the patio or by the windows. They offer hashes, breakfast plates, simple benes. Service is aloof tho. The few times I've been I couldn't tell if it's a one-person show or what. One time it took over 30 to get our food and same with our check. Taproom chill vibes maybe. Ambience could be better too, because of the acoustics you hear everything including the fan/hood vents. No music can make it a little awkward if your party isn't social. Pass one the breakfast potatoes, they were like slices that got deep fried? Super oily. Eggs are cooked nicely and the hashes they have are decent. If they worked better on service I would be a regular, but for now they are just a backup option for me.

It was quite an adventure of discovery! I was blown away by the quality of their food. I enjoyed their brews and food on many a cold, dark night outside, dressed in hat and coat, during those early days of Covid. I've been back a few times since then and just enjoyed another great meal. So it's time for an update! While I usually go for the Dubbel or the Grand Cru, this time I had the Imperial Stout and greatly enjoyed it. Also enjoyed another terrific Mazama burger. What struck me on day one and what continues to be true all these years later is the Excellence they demonstrate in everything they do. The beers are creative and first rate and are part of a long tradition. The food far exceeds typical pub fare. I usually have to trek to downtown PDX to find pub food of this quality. I greatly enjoy the Mazama burger. The Bavarian Pretzel is amazing. And the Donut Holes are terrific. They have a great menu full of small plates and entrees. I have my work cut out for me! They have a terrific modern space with plenty of tables (great for large groups) as well as a loungy area, a great bar, a window bar, and a terrific outside patio looking over the Jerry Willey plaza. Service has always been exceptional - considerate, kind, and personable. I'm grateful to be able to walk to such a great place. There is also plenty of street parking and a garage with free parking for those traveling over here. And they're a block away from the MAX stop. It's well worth the trip!

I got their kalbi burger and I could really taste the Korean flavors as it had a mixture of sweet and savory. It was a bit sweeter than I expected. The burger tasted alright but for me, nothing outstanding. We also ordered the basil truffle fries. The texture was alright but I wish it had more truffle flavor. I couldn't really taste it nor the basil. The chicken nuggets were okay, typical nuggets. I'm glad I tried but maybe eating it in person would've made it more fresh and the buns would be less soggy. I really liked the little cow we found in our fries. It was quite small though, good thing the toddler we ate with didn't take it and attempt to eat it.
