The doctor is really quite good. He's knowledgeable and he's thorough. He has a good demeanor and is willing to answer any question. The problem that I have with the office though is their lack of attention to detail and their follow-through. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and there was a problem with the submittal to my health insurance, and I was rejected because they hadn't received everything from the office, and it took over a month to rectify the situation. They seem to be nice people, but I have zero confidence in their ability to follow through.. This reflects poorly on the doctors. I try to separate the good from the bad maybe they've been in their positions too long and they no longer care. Again, I don't hold it against the Dr, but his office staff needs some work. read more

For almost 20 year, Dr. Tu Duong has been my Primary Care Physician. "The best of the best," would have to be my description of the wonderfully compassionate medical care and personal attention I have always received from Dr. Duong and from his highly skilled staff. I was incredibly fortunate to have discovered Dr. Duong for my primary care physician when I first moved to Burbank in 2004. His professionalism, compassion, and exceptionally knowledgeable medical skills were immediately impressive. He and his incredible staff took the extra time to thoroughly answer all of my endless questions in great detail. They even helped to educate me of my insurance rights and preferable plans so I could be referred to the best specialists. I recently had to change providers due to my employer changing health plans. Unfortunately my previous doctors office was not part of my new network so I had to get reassigned to a new office, which is how I ended up here. Honestly, I was hesitate at first after I looked up the office and saw the previous reviews. Due to a lack of time and some minor health concerns I kept my appointment. Not sure if there's been a change in management, but the staff there was pleasant and checked me in quickly. Dr. Duong was attentive and answered all my questions. My x-rays were taken on the spot and reviewed right afterwards, which was a nice change since my previous provider had me go to a separate location for x-rays. Overall I had a great experience and as of now will keep them as my provider. read more

Dr. Duong is actually very kind and patient, but the office is run HORRIBLY. Horrible is actually an understatement. Mainly, the receptionist at the front (Naf?) is EXTREMELY rude and stand-offish. They are an unorganized mess and you're waiting at LEAST an hour and a half before even being called into the room (in which you easily wait another 30-40 minutes in). You should have kind and good customer service representing you and your office. Naf has made numerous rude comments and has inappropriate ways of speaking to a patient. This person should NOT be representing you. I hope the office gets reorganized as I'm changing my primary ASAP because of him. If you ever read this, Dr. Duong, you will be missed and hope you take the necessary steps to keep patients. read more

Doctor Duong has been my doctor for about 12 years, I love that he cares for his patients and his office staff is always very friendly and helpful. I have never had a doctor that will call you on his off hours to tell you about your blood work results so you don't worry and his office staff especially Neftali is always so helpful whenever I need anything it's like talking to a family member. I live 2 hours from Dr. Duongs office but I will continue to keep him as my doctor because of the excellent care I get from him and his staff. If I could give this place a zero I would. Every time it's a dog and pony show. The wait time from your appointment is typically 2 hours then it's a 5 minute meet and greet and the dr is gone. The staff is incompetent to put it politely. Called on an invoice told to call back. Called back all week and told no one is able to assist due to staff shortage. Got mad then they said oh sorry your invoice is sent to accountant and you will need to call back. Ask to speak with dr told he doesn't have time. If you want care and competent staff go elsewhere. Dr.Duong and the staff are absolute masters at the art of healing . They make you feel comfortable and very welcomed. Although the lobby could use A little renovation it tends to bring with it a soothing , being at home kind of feel. Always late! Only go if you're healthy and have a great ipod and a thick book so you can wait a good 1.5 hours. I had a 3pm appt and have a fever . Waited till 4:30 and no sign of doc bc he was doing a physical for someone who had an appt at 2:15! Okay.. soo... I have a fever, it's my FOLLOW UP VISIT and I'm not better. Let's make me wait 1.5 hours so that you can catch up on your slow physical. The staff is air-headed and makes no effort to fix the situation: they give you an appt on top of another one, say they will tell the doc you already complained that you have a fever and ur blood pressure is low and want to see the doc for 10 mins... But no they don't help. The girl who took my weight and blood pressure and temp answered questions about blood pressure with "um.. ya I dont know. I think it's low. ya probbably". OK! GREAT I TRUST YOU! DONT GO HERE. I'm DONE. read more

If you have 1 1/2 hours to waste, this is a great place to be. You will be waiting for an hour or more n the waiting room, 25 minutes in the room, and 5 minutes with the doctor. Then if you have lab work, the nurse will call you to schedule an appointment to get the results and instead of them telling you that everything is okay, they'll get your copayment, have you wait for over an hour just to tell you that the results were normal. In addition if you are late over 15 min they will reschedule your appt but yet they will ALWAYS have you wait for over an hour and a half. read more

I had three appointments with Dr. Duong but it should have stopped at 1 because it is one of the least efficient offices I have entered...but I want to start this off with a plea to Dr. Duong (incase he doesn't read the entire review): Dr. Duong, you seem like a good guy/doctor but my experience with your practice was one of the worst I've ever had (with any business...not just medical) and your staff are going to bring you down. Please make some changes for the sake of your future patients even though I most certainly will not be one of them. Okay, now for the actual review: The first appt. was a general physical to establish a PCP and I showed up a few minutes late and had to fill out some paperwork so I gave him a bit of a pass on the amount of time I had to wait to get into my actual appointment. The second appointment was to get a Dtap/Tdap vaccine shortly after my wife and I had our first baby. We have an HMO which can be a bit of a pain to work with so we were sure to call ahead multiple times to let them know the reason for our appointment and to confirm they have the shot. The front office (will talk about them later) assured us it wouldn't be a problem each time we called but once I showed up it was like they had no idea what we were talking about. I ended up sitting around for 1.5 HOURS before being brought back in to be told by Dr. Duong that they would need to order the shot! I was obviously frustrated and asked why his receptionists had said it would be ready for me to which he responded: "That's how HMO's work...which is why I pay a lot of money to be on a PPO plan." Two issues there...1. If you are a doctor who accepts HMO insurance it's probably not the best idea to bash it when talking to a patient. 2. Why was it not ordered when I made the appointment the week before? Its not like he needed to run any tests to confirm that we had a newborn baby in the house and I needed the shot. Anyways, the third appointment doesn't get any better. Having to take off work to get a shot I was supposed to have received while on leave doesn't make it any easier to stomach another 1.5+ hour wait but of course, that's what I faced. When I asked the front office when I would get in the response was always "He will be with you soon." When I finally make it out of the waiting room a nurse proceeds to ask multiple times what shot I was there for and I of course worried they didn't have it. Luckily they did and maybe 30 seconds after Dr. Duong comes in he gives me the shot and I am ready to go. Another 1.5 hours of my wife wasted for 30 seconds of face time with the doctor. After he gave me the shot he asked if I had any questions to which I responded..."Just one, how do I change doctors?" The surprising thing about his response was that he seemed shocked. I know this is a very long winded review and I hate to put this out there but either the office needs to have a dramatic overhaul or people need to know what they are getting themselves into. Aside from the quasi lecture on HMO insurance I had no real issues with Dr. Duong. I feel the main issue is with his staff and the complete lack of communication or any hint that they care about the patients. Each time I walked in I was completely ignored by the receptionist(s) who just continued with their conversations (non work related of course). They obviously don't communicate with the doctor as was evident by the TDap snafu and they don't care if you are sitting there waiting well past your appointment time without any hint of why/when you will be called back. Because of these inefficiencies I missed out on a significant amount of quality time with my family while on paternity leave and had to take an extra day off but it could have been worse...I'd hate to have to rely on these people if I was actually sick. Best of luck if you still want to give it a shot (pun intended) but at least now you know what to expect. Bring a book and clear your calendar because you will be in the waiting room for a while. read more

He has worked in an extraordinary fashion to understand the treatment and coordination of all my mother's specialist. We would highly recommend Dr. Duong. Very frustrated with billing practices. I believe that I paid my bill when first delivered, however I've gotten a notice 2 whole years after my last appointment that claims I owe money and it's being sent to collections and that they are trying to charge 'fees' on top of the initial bill. I had to call the office 4 times to get connected to a human being. Once I was told to call back a different day. Three times I was hung up on after being transferred. The final time I was put in touch with Terri who was polite and informative. The office claims that they sent bills on Dec 2014 and Jan 2015 to my old address when I was living there. (And others after I moved which I, of course, would not have received.) I'm posting this in case any other patients have had a similar experience. Note: On reflection, we did have some packages go missing while at the Burbank address. So I suppose it's possible that other mail was lost as well. I just switched doctors because I've had a string of horrible experiences with Dr. Duong and his office. His office staff is rude and has zero customer service skills. Their computer system crashed twice when I was trying to schedule appointments which caused quite an inconvenience. When I called to make an appointment to get the TDAP vaccine, I was assured that it was available in the office. When I arrived to my appointment, Dr. Duong said it needed to be ordered and I would have to come back. When I told him that his office staff assured me it would be available at this appointment, he responded by saying I should switch to PPO insurance. Shouldn't a doctor that accepts HMO's be supportive of HMO insurance? read more

As I went in for my 1st appointment early last week as a new patient, I thought I was in the wrong office, but as I was checking in, I was greeted and processed in a timely manner. Met Dr. Duong and let me tell you, he is an amazing Doctor.Very Professional, he takes his time, listens to you, and great care. Yet reviews are total opposite, maybe changes were made to office. Now lets understand they have to check in patients, and or verify insurance with all the new medical programs now, and sometimes the nurse can be busy with others or paperwork and in betweeen they have calls. I had a very similar situation. I had pneumonia and I waited over an hour and a half just to be seen(I even saw some of their consistent customers go ahead of me). I was looking for a new doctor after moving to the area from CO and I was horried how I was treated. I've never experienced a medical office as bad as this. This is the first review and only one I've ever written as well. But I have to speak up and am going to even try and report them to the Better Business bureau. Every time I've seen this Doctor, I've had to wait up to an hour or more. The whole staff including the Office manager are completely vulgar and rude. Elizabeth who runs the front desk ignored for 5-10 min and just kept talking with the other staff as I said hello and tried to let them know I had an appointment scheduled. They wouldn't acknowledge that I was there and greet me. So I finally walked back to see if my Doctor was there. I asked for the Office Manager's name who is Terry. Instead of her discussing with her staff about greeting patients when they come in. She tried to grill me on walking around looking for my Doctor and ignore the fact that her staff wouldn't acknowledge I was there and greet me, to let me know the Doctor was running late as usual. I have a good blood pressure and for the first I actually got checked with a little higher blood pressure when the nurse finally checked me in. The worst patient experience in my whole life. read more
