Came here today to watch Sunday football. Everything was great until 3pm and 2 customers that walked in asked for the Cubs game to be played with the sound. I'm not sure why those 2 customers have more power than the rest of the bar that was still watching football. We left for that reason. Hope they can realize that Sunday's are for football and that is what the majority of their customers are there for. read more

Visited Draft Picks for the first time on Thursday, September 26th, for lunch with my sister and her co-worker. I am definitely planning on going back to this place because the Mushroom/Swiss Burger with fries that I had was absolutely delicious. Inexplicably poor service. Went with two friends and my girlfriend, all of us in our late 20s, one of us in his late 30s. Two friends were drinking and were accused of using fake ID's so a manager came to investigate. No apology ever offered, or even a sorry for the accusation or inconvenience. The food was terrible and the waitress was abrasive and rude. This establishment won't make it through the end of the year. The owner needs a lesson in business management and hospitality. Came here for a Bears game on a Sunday. Had to ask for a beer menu. I ordered a Sam Adams. The waitress brought me an Oktoberfest, but I was able to change beers.the middle of the third quarter, they decided it would be a good idea to put on the Cubs game, until most of the place booed, then the Bears game was put back on. Owner/Managers clearly are trying their best to be friendly and it definitely shows. Appreciate that. I'll say the few times I've been at the bar their bartenders have been fantastic. Experienced and attentive, but also pros at knowing when to keep their distance. With that being said, their wait staff was atrocious. Went for the Cubs clincher and our waitress would not go past a minute without asking if we were ok. It became comical. We actually pulled out a cell phone and would do the stop watch feature to see how often she came and she averaged 53 seconds. Attentive is one thing. Oblivious to the constant - I'm ok thanks meant that she came back over and over again even when our drinks were half full for 15 minutes straight. If the game wasn't as exciting we would have left. To start, she didn't know what rumplemintz was. She came back to the table 3 times... Fine, hard to spell maybe can't find it in the register. Next, Arnold Palmer was confusing for her. Had to be explained after her trip to the register. I'm not ragging on the waitress like some ivory tower 1%percenter, because I get it -- sometimes you need to learn on the job and the learning curve most definitely exists. We probably were there for her first day solo. I feel uppity complaining about having an overly attentive waitress, but it was something out of a Seinfeld episode. Worst part, buddy of mine had ordered a water in the 9th, and she came, per usual, and asked if he wanted more water (half full) and he said, no thanks, I'm fine because she had conditioned us to just say no. She proceeds to take the half glass of water and move on.... Very strange experience. Something I think the 4 of us will be able to laugh about for years to come. Maybe it was a good thing? Otherwise, they have a couple decent weekly deals. One day they have $4 pints which isn't bad deal. Had the tacos once, good portion of food for the price (half off that Tuesday) and tasted well enough. Not traditional, but Americanized tacos. Sliders were alright too --- definitely worth the price. Wings were wings, good, nothing mind blowing, but definitely great on 50cent days. Side notes: Owner was cool when the Cubs won and offered free beer to each patron. You can really tell this management is trying to lead by example, unfortunately we had a bad experience with the waitress. Probably due to lack of experience (which we've all been there), so the next time we are here I'm sure she will be so much better. Pat, the bartender, is the best. I would say one of the best bartenders to serve me drinks. You could be lucky enough to get a Seinfeld character type waitress... I'll update this ranking with time if things change. Went here for lunch with a friend. We both had sandwiches that came with cole slaw. My friends slaw was ok, but mine was VERY old and rotten. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she took the container away. She came back about 3-4 minutes later and said the chef was "looking for some fresh stuff". LOOKING? No apologies and no slaw. We have been to this restaurant twice and were disappointed twice. The first time my husband paid the $1 up charge to get spicy waffle fries with his burger. Spicy? Not by any stretch of the imagination. These fries were pretty bland. The Cabo Chicken Sandwich I ordered was as dry as dust. The chipotle mayo did not come on the sandwich as advertised. When I requested mayo I received plain mayo. Since it took at least 5 minutes to get the plain, I wasn't going to wait for the chipotle mayo. On our second visit, I ordered the chicken quesadillas. What a joke. This was the most pitiful excuse for quesadillas I have ever seen in my life. A small bit of cheese and some very, very plain and unseasoned chunks of chicken inside an almost cold tortilla. No seasoning or spices of any kind. A small cup of guacamole, a small cup of sour cream, and a small cup of a yellowish liquid (salsa?) rounded out the plate. There was absolutely no flavor going on here at all. I agree with the other reviewers about the greasiness of the burgers. My husband's hands were covered in it. His plate was covered in it. He went through multiple napkins trying to keep it contained. Ordered dinner for delivery and was not impressed. The Texas burger was decent flavor wise as was the chicken club sandwich. However, the accompanying fires and onion rings were soggy and inedible. Additionally, the Pretzel bites arrived looking grey and unappealing and didn't even get a chance. The only reason this review is getting 2 stars instead of 1 is that I am giving this place the benefit of the doubt and thinking that perhaps the food would be better if eating at the actual restaurant. I walked into Draft Picks in August of 2015 and decided this was where I wanted to have a Friday evening venue for a fifty year class reunion, I spoke to the hostess who showed me the private room and told me they would accommodate me in any way I needed. I asked if they needed a deposit. No she responded. Just come back or call soon and let us know. So, at the end of January 2016 I was at a function at Draft Picks in the same room that I asked to hold for a class reunion in October 2016. I spoke with the same hostess and the Manager, Spiro, who also told me he could do whatever I wished regarding food and drinks. Again, I inquired if a deposit was needed. Again, I was told no. So now fast forward to Memorial Day weekend 2016. I received a call on Saturday from someone at Draft Picks that I could hardly understand. Being that I was out of town at the time, I decided I would call back when I returned home. I called on the Thursday morning after Memorial Day (4 days later) and spoke with the same hostess who muttered something about having the large bar area for my event. I told her I would come right in, which I did, because she, too was difficult to understand on the phone. I was at Draft Picks by 1pm on Thursday June 2 and the hostess even recognized me. She proceeded to tell me that my event has been moved to the outside bar area (exactly what I did not want because of the noise and all the patrons of a bar on a Friday night). I said, no I think you have the wrong event. We have reserved the private room and I did that last August. She proceeded to tell me that they "gave the room to another party who had put down a $100 deposit." To say I was shocked was an understatement. I told her this was totally unacceptable. This is for a 50year reunion and we asked for the private room just so we would not have to put up with the usual Friday night bar scene. She said, "sorry, we already rented the room to the police group." I said I was very disappointed and was now put in a position to have to search for another venue five months before the event. I was not happy and told her I was not interested in the bar area. No one ever called to apologize for this totally poor business. I would NEVER go back there again. The hostess was rude and unaccommodating even when I told her I would put down a deposit at that time. "Too bad, we already rented the room to someone else." Not even an apology. What lousy customer service. Since that time, I found another, even better venue for our reunion, but want to warn anyone who may be interested in using that room to beware. If a better venue comes along, you are chopped liver. I would never go to that place again. Lousy business policy and customer serviced. PS I hope the venue that took over our place, cancels and they have no one there that night. read more

The BEST Superbowl Party hands down! From the moment we walked in to the time we left, the owner, Spiro, made us feel like VIP's! Having been to Draft Picks once before and been amazed by the ice cold tap beer selection in the frostiest of frosty pints, unbelievable wings and unending engagement by the owner, we chose to take advantage of the incredible "Superbowl All-U-Can Eat and Drink" deal. The food was perfect and kept on coming all night long. The staff never rested and we never were without an ice cold Allagash White! We were in complete awe when the owner started to raffle off prizes. It never stopped all night long. The raffle prizes kept on getting better and better as the night went on. He engaged the entire place and there were nothing but smiles on all of the patrons! We will definitely be back with many friends and family. First time ordering takeout from here. Order took 25 minutes, appeared to be accurate upon pickup, simple order of three sandwiches. First was the buffalo chicken wrap. The wrap was a chicken tender with lettuce and tomato, no buffalo sauce - no buffalo chicken. Second was the steak and cheese wrap. The description had it "stuffed with fries" - the wrap did not contain a single fry much less was it stuffed. Either the menu needs updating for both items or the kitchen needs retraining. Both wraps were disappointing and one out of three isn't great as far as accuracy of a takeout order....wont be ordering to go again anytime soon. read more

Be prepared...this is a long review. My boyfriend and I go to Draft Picks on Thurs. nights since I love burgers and they are a special. This week, prior to Memorial weekend, we went on Friday night instead. The place was not busy and I ordered my usual rare swiss mushroom burger without the onions. My BF ordered a Philly steak sandwich. After 25 minutes of not getting our food, which we always get quickly, we asked the waitress to check on our order. Instead of just saying she would see what the hold up was, she proceeded to tell us that there were a lot of carry-out orders and the kitchen was backed up. I explained that customers in the restaurant should receive their food first since they are actually there in the restaurant not just waiting to stroll in and pick up their food. She said she'd check on our food. Meanwhile my companion wanted to just leave since it was another 10 minutes without an update on our food. I finally went up front to the host stand and mentioned what was going on. She asked where we were sitting and said her sister was, the disappearing server, our waitress. She told us she would find out what the hold up was with our order. She came back to the table and said it would be there in a few minutes. We asked for a manager and she said she was the manager. We said we came in every week and had never seen her before. She was extremely defensive and rude but said to wait that our order was coming up in a few minutes and she rushed the order. Rushed the order? We were there for over 50 minutes when our food finally arrived, I could tell immediately that my burger was overcooked. The onions were on it and the burger was so well done that it was charred like a piece of burnt toast! Obviously it was not just made since I ordered it rare! We told our waitress and she grabbed our plates off the table and rudely left in a huff. We left starving. I told the so-called "manager" and her response was that we didn't know her so how often did we really come there? I worked as a waitress for 20 years and if I had acted like either of those employees, I would've been fired. The rudeness and condescending attitude of both these workers was just unacceptable. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Draft Picks anytime soon which is sad since it was our go to Thurs. night go to place. Although it is not always true, although in our case it was, the customer is always right and these two need to learn that lesson! read more

Burger was cooked incorrectly burger was paired w wrong side given wrong wine blamed it on owner behind bar paid for it anyway !!!! My friends burger was over cooked too never got bacon on it will not b back!!! Decided to give it another try, food was ok and service a bit better but Spiro the manager is a bit touchy feely with his employees! Great food, specials, and beer selections! Very clean and organized overall. Thrilled to have a place like this--great Sports bar set up with plenty of TVs to watch the game. The apps are very good with a nice variety. The only thing that held me back from five stars was the server seemed a little distant, would check in to see how we were but seemed to not want to be bothered. We came here looking for another sports bar option. We like sports bars. The hostess did not look up from her phone when we approached the front desk so I asked her if we needed to seat ourselves. She seated us at a booth with no enthusiasm. No one approached our table for five minutes, so we got up and sat at the bar. It took about a minute to be approached. We ordered drinks and then as an afterthought they asked if we wanted to see menus. The woman who took our food order was very precise and when our food arrived, it arrived as ordered. We loved the four dollar beer special. The food was good, although I disliked that the mushrooms on my sandwich were canned. My overall impression of the staff was that none of them wanted to be there. Our bartender did comp our last drinks, but she did not say why. I think the owner was present, so I was surprised people were not more on the ball. All in all, I do not believe we will return. read more

We live in the neighborhood and was pretty excited about a sports bar close by, Well in a nutshell, We won't be back. Service was terrible. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks, not only once, not twice but 3 times this happened. No one truly apologetic including Spiro(manager). Food was fair, price wise it was average. But the service really turned our party off, and we won't be back.. Oh by the way...check your bill when you leave, they screwed that up also, then we waited a good 15 minutes to get it corrected. Finally went on Saturday well my wait is over ....Thank god because it was pretty bad , service was okay but when I got my baked french onion soup and took one sip I almost threw up it was that bad and trust me .. tasted like water and basil huh? I ordered my go to buffalo chicken sandwich which tasted like a frozen chicken patty which was about less that a penny size thick and doused in some sauce with a pile of blue cheese to cover up the freezer burn taste. Huge shout out to draft picks for helping me give my daughter a great 21st surprise party!! From the moment I walked in until the moment I left someone was always there making sure everything was okay. The party room is a great size, holds about 60 people comfortably, and has doors on both ends of the room that can be closed if you want a more private party. In the room there is a huge t.v. on one wall and a movie projector screen on another wall. When the bulls game was over, they put 80's music videos on that the guests were having a great time with. The food is fantastic!! The nachos, spinach artichoke dip and fried pickles are a must to get for an appetizer. I ordered Pizzas and two different salads for the party. The salads came out in the biggest bowls I have ever seen!! I heard so many compliments from the guests that night and the next day about the food. Now the staff....Spiro, the owner, is one of the most welcoming people I have ever met! He greets you and talks to you as if you've been friends for years. He made sure the room was set up to my likings when I first arrived. If I did need anything else, I had it within minutes. Ted, the manager, was on top of the party as soon as he walked in that afternoon. Alison was a HUGE help at the beginning of the party! She went over the food order with me and what time I wanted everything out... and it was spot on. Tanya and Tat Su were the waitresses for the party. Those two girls worked so hard making sure everyone had enough food, drink...etc. In the over all of this....if I ever have to plan another party, it will definitely be at Draft Picks. read more
