I've been wanting to check out Drago Sisters Bakery for a while! Today was the day, thanks to a particular app on my phone and a special they were offering-- (THANKS SO MUCH for participating in it!!) It's a tiny entry way, but chock full of all sorts of scrumptious goodies. I thought I had read somewhere that they also offer savory items, but I only saw sweets while I was there today. (I'm DYING to find a bakery like the one I once knew in Indianapolis that made the most amazing fresh-baked onion dill bread; or the one in SoCal that used to sell a sourdough that was chock full of cheddar and whole-roasted garlic cloves!) I was delighted to try the tres leches cakelet, an M&M cookie, and a white chocolate and cherry bar. The tres leches was sorta soggy and not very tasty, the M&M cookie was a bit hard, but had good flavor... but the whte chocolate cherry bar... that won the prize. The cherries were succulent and plump, the white chocolate was just sweet enough (not too!), and the bar itself was delectable. There was a gentleman before me who was purchasing a birthday cake for his 1-year old... and yes, I think the Drago Sisters Bakery is a TOTAL contender for a made-to-order cake for a special holiday! read more

I hate speaking negatively about business but this wasn't for me. I went in on a Monday, case was almost empty. It was very dark and messy and cluttered in there. I was greeted by a lady that said they have more flavors on the back. I ordered 4 cupcakes. They were over $20 which took me by surprise. I know times are tough but that's kind of ridiculous for 4 basic cupcakes. The look was ok, the flavor was ok, nothing special at all, definitely not worth over $20 for. Everything was just perfect with this bakery. They were recommended by a friend of ours, and it was a wonderful recommendation . I found a picture of a cake online with a few changes, but mostly wanted to duplicate it. This was a 1/2 sheet cake for my 50th birthday. We had lots of communication with the baker during the order. Later, I purchased the edible butterflies and dropped them off. They were able to use buttercream icing and give it the effect of having smoothe fondant. This was wonderful because I do not like fondant. I also wanted the cake to be lavender flavor which is very hard to get just right. It was absolutely perfect! I always love getting a sweet treat from this bakery! For my wedding, I wanted a small cake and scheduled a tasting. It was so easy and everything was ready when we got there. Today I decided to stop into this little Las Vegas bakery Drago sisters upon my first entrance. The cases were quite empty. That should've gave me a clue. So I decided to ask for a cupcake that the frosting was made with cream cheese. So I got the cupcake. There was a lot of frosting on the cupcake and my first initial bite was the frosting tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for three weeks. Now I did do as the baker suggested and let it get to room temperature in 100° weather on the ride home. I think that it pretty much came up to room temperature. The frosting was soft, but it had a horrible taste, and the cupcake itself not good at all. I guess I just should've walked out when I saw the cases were more than half empty. That's my fault but I wasted five dollars on a regular size cupcake with a dry cake and the frosting that tasted like it had been in the refrigerator for three weeks. I don't think I'll return. read more

Super cute bakery located at the very busy intersection of 215 and Rainbow on the Southeast side of Rainbow across from the Arroyo Crossing shopping center. This adorable shop offers a wealth of custom cakes and pastries. We picked up a grab-bag of cookies and cupcakes and we were happy with our selections. Best Tres Leches Cake in town! This cute bakery is easy to miss if you're not looking for it. The storefront is small but their goods are GREAT!! I've ordered tres leches cakes in all various sizes. Their smallest size can feed 1-2 people, I recently got their 6 inch cake that fed 5 of us for a coworkers birthday! It's perfectly moist and flavorful and I love that the frosting isn't overly sweet, it's light and fluffy. The staff is also super friendly and helpful! We got a cake here for my moms 60th birthday a few years back and it was great. We loved the taste, the buttercream and the look of it. So when we decided to get a cake for my nephews 21st, we thought of Drago Sisters. Did my schedule I am unable to make it in to speak with them personally about a cake so I chose a few cake designs. I liked off-line and submitted my request with pictures. I called them to make sure that they had received my information and we discussed, but I liked on the cake. Number one thing I requested was for the accessories could be made out of fondant or modeling chocolate, but no fondant on the cake. I also requested for a marble cake on the top tier with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream frosting. Our second tier was a vanilla cake with raspberry compote and buttercream frosting. When I discussed the cake with them, they asked about the stripes and asked if I was OK with funds and I said no fondant on the cake just butter cream frosting all the accessories could be found on. So when I went to go pick up my cake on Friday and they opened it and there was a lot of fondant accessories and all the stripes on the bottom layer were done. For our family, we absolutely hate fondant and would've preferred either leave the shapes off or made horizontal stripes with butter cream. I was a little disappointed, but the cake still looked good. Since I had been sitting in the refrigerator, they did say to put it in the refrigerator and take it out only 45 minutes prior to serving. We do not have any room in our refrigerator so we decided to leave it in the dining area on the table set up ready for the birthday party that night. We did watch it to make sure that there was no condensation on the cake. When it was time to finally serve the cake about three hours after we brought it home, the cake was still frozen hard. The moose was more like a chocolate ice cream and the raspberry compote was so frozen it just sliced like a popsicle. Not sure if the taste of the cake was due to it being frozen, but it tasted like it had been baked at least a week before. to say, I was disappointed in this cake would be an understatement. To the fact of the first cake we got was so fabulous and fresh. Once the cakes thawed out the next day and we were able to taste it, I did not have a raspberry compote in the middle of my vanilla cake like I had requested it was more like a raspberry jelly. It was some thing that you would've bought out a of a can or a jar and not homemade compote. I was a little disappointed. We may give them another try on a smaller cake, but if things don't change, we will be finding a new bakery. read more

I've been here several times to pick up a Too Good To Go rescue order. Each time, all items were delicious. I'm usually NOT a fan of red velvet. We came here on a whim after having breakfast in the area so we popped in right after they opened at 9am. They were just turning on the lights in the display cases. It was unknown whether or not the stuff they put in the cases were just out out before they opened their doors or if they were from the day before, so we weren't expecting too much. We choose an Oreo cheesecake Square, a chocolate and vanilla whoopie pie, an M&M cookie, a red velvet cookie, a chocolate chocolate cupcake with sprinkles and an Oreo cookies and cream cupcake. The gal who helped us was super friendly and described all of the items or helped us to identify what everything was. But we were oh so pleasantly surprised when we tried our goodies. We microwaved the cookies for a short time and unleashed the soft gooey sweetness of them. The whoopie pie was a good size and was not overly sweet. The Oreo cheesecake was light and not overly sour tasting like some cheesecakes do. The cupcakes were moist and not dry and had just the right amount of icing on them. Walking into the bakery it was much smaller than I had envisioned it to be from pictures I had seen. The owners mother who is very sweet was manning the counter. She has been filling in since they are currently trying to find new workers. I was glad they had the peaches and cream cupcake because it's the only one they make with Italian buttercream frosting. I have never cared for American buttercream so it's the only cupcake I picked out. They also had cake pops so we picked some of those out as well. We also picked out pistachio macarons, as she had said those were especially good. My boyfriend got a couple other items that I did not personally try so I can't comment on them. The peaches and cream cupcake had great frosting, the cupcake while moist was a bit doughy. They put peach peices in the batter so I'm sure it's hard to get the right texture. The flavor made me think of those peach o candies I ate as a child. So a bit more candy peach then fresh peach. I liked it overall as it was not to sweet. It would have been nice if the cake ratio was a bit higher with all the frosting on it. Cake balls. Ok so we got the funfetti and the carrot cake. They weren't on sticks which would have been pretty helpful because to my surprise they were slippery. Instead of a crunchy chocolate outside they were some type of butter cream frosting. I prefer a chocolate coating because of the texture it brings to the cake ball, and also it was just to sweet with the buttercream. At least the carrot cake ball had nuts in it, so that helped add texture. The pistachio macarons I took one bite and then spit it out. It was crazy sweet, my boyfriend even thought so and he has a way higher tolerance for sugar than me. My boyfriend had gotten a blueberry tres leches cupcake. He really enjoyed it, but I did not try as I was sugared out. It's the main reason we came because I know how much he loves tres leches. This and the cupcake pushed my score of to a 3. read more
