I have been going to this place for the last 30 years. Just every now and then when you get the urge for Chinese takeout. The last two years or so have been really hit or miss as far as the food goes - but last night took the cake. The food we got literally had no taste to it. None. Ugh I'm so bummed. This used to be my place to get the yummy brown lobster sauce, but what we got last night resembled more of a gravy/soup with not much pork/meat at all. I wish I took a pic now. I actually did ask the waitress about it, and sent it back, but what we got back was maybe a little more meat...and the same soup consistency. Besides that it didn't really have much flavor at all, nor did the crab rangoon. The rice was ok, the egg rolls ok, but I asked my son if he wanted to take leftovers home, and he said he was all set. I'm thinking maybe this is more known as a drinking destination? It was just is and one other table at 7:00 in a Saturday night (on the dining room side). Two words...mai tai. Why? Because what else is there to do in Boylston, MA? When I pulled into the Dragon 88 I was admittedly, apprehensive. Maybe it was the numbers in the name (a common deterrent for Chinese food places). Maybe it was the dude in full army fatigues with a uni-bomber beard in the parking lot. Who knows. All I can say is I was not expecting the glory within. Once you enter, hook a right into the bar area. Seat yourself, and try and ignore the signed dollar bills all over the walls (also good luck trying to snag any later on in the night when that seems like an AWESOME idea, because those things are stuck on there pretty good). When the very nice waiter comes by order the Vodka Mai Tai. Do not bother trying to specify the type of vodka- they make it with a base of absolute and several other bottles of non- descriptor booze with Chinese writing all over the bottles. I know- this sounds off-putting right now- but trust me. Order the drink- and a pu-pu platter and something carb based like a rice or noodle. You will need it. When the Mai Tai's come- you will be buzzed in three sips and drunk in six (cue the carbs). Other than that, enjoy the euphoric trip that comes with grain alcohol and fried yum yum's. CAUTION- do NOT drink more than 2 and get a driver! Also, don't be more adventurous than the fried rice and pu-pu platter (you'll understand when you see the place). I've come to the Dragon 88 in the past for drinks and had service that was passable, but recently I went to the Dragon 88 with a relatively small group of friends, and my opinion dropped even lower. We ordered off the menu and eventually we got our food but the service was slow, and when the waiter delivered the food we found out that most of the orders were wrong. Most of the people at our table also said that the food was not up to par with anything they had ever had. We decided to suffer through the dinner and eat the food. After our disgusting meal was finished we proceeded to pay our bill. This is when things got discouraging. We tried to pay our bill (which was $100) and gave him a tip which we thought he deserved ($5) due to the awful service. He proceeded to yell at our party due to the fact that he didn't think we tipped him adequately. We proceed to reluctantly hand over more money ($10 More Dollars) to stop the bickering. Ridiculous... Do you come for the food or do you come for the Mai Tai's? See that's the question. Everyone has an opinion of this place and you either get good service (which I've always had) or for some reason you don't. Keep in mind this is one the very very tiki/cocktail lounges left that have not been jazzed up to bring in the crowds who don't know how to act like adults. The food is basic Chinese food with some very tasty speciality dishes, good appetizers, plenty of parking, an ATM on site and very reasonable. Now Mai Tai's, I've had them all over the world and I have to say these are the best and dangerous everything you've heard about them are true, they go down easy, sneak up on you and even for the enjoyer of fine beverages are no match for beginners use common sense since you want to enjoy the night, so the next day you remember it. read more

Order the Mai Tai but don't try drinking more than two unless you have a lot of time on your hands. These drinks are lethal. Tasty, intoxicating, perfectly balanced; everything you want in a Tiki concoction. Just beware. The pu pu platter comes in handy as does the Kung Pao chicken. Bad experience with Dragon 88. I sent an order in on line and wanted delivery, but I hit the wrong button and it went in as pick up. I had no way of getting my order so I called to see if it could be changed to delivery. Didn't happen and the gentleman was so rude and wasn't able to reason with him. The restaurant side is just used as an entrance way to the bar. The food only tastes decent if you had a Mai Tai. If you are not here to drink and only to eat. Two words describe the food here- Not Good. The food quality has gone way down over the years to the point were I drive to other Chinese restaurants located further away. Stay away from the Chicken Fingers which appear to have been fried in old and dirty grease. The only restaurant I know of that uses not so white chicken meat in their lo and chow meins. I had been to this establishment once before and the drinks were decent enough. The bartender "David" was pushy and a little rude but I figured he was extremely busy and chalked it up to rough night for him. The second time I went he was extremely rude to myself and my friends once again. One of the servers told us that they will take Visa or MasterCard and when I ordered drinks at the bar and presented my credit card the bartender actually yelled at me and said " I don't have time to take your card. I can be making other drinks instead." My other friend later ordered French fries and when the check came the server stood there and actually demanded payment immediately! Service is extremely poor. It took more then 15 mins after being seated to get our drinks and have our order taken (with only 2 other tables in the entire restaurant filled with other people) Food came quick, but getting the check after we finished took another good 20 mins (and only after I had to get up to ask for it). They either need to hire servers or train the servers they have to check on their tables more often. Won't go again. read more

I have so much love for the dragon, this place is awesome. Ever since Jackie the new owner took over its done a complete 360 in the best way possible. Brand new flat screens tvs everywhere, no more dirty dollar bills covering the walls and the food is excellent. Everyone goes here for the "world famous" Mai tais. Beware though, they are super strong and will put you on your @ss. The bar is usually filled with regulars and it can get pretty roudy as the night goes on. All the bartenders are super friendly. I love going here for the lunch specials from 11:30-330. Good prices and HUGE portions. Come on down and have a mai tai! read more

Mai Tais are the best thing going for this place. The dining room is kind of dirty, high chair was sticky and the safety clip was broken so you couldn't use it, table was sticky. Prices are lower than most of the other places in the area and once we tried the food we realized why-not good! The food came out super quick which makes me think it was pre cooked and then reheated. The chicken finger I bit into was hard as a rock. The outside coating crumbled leaving a small, dry, crusty piece of chicken inside. Crab rangoons had very little crab and the boneless spare ribs were very fatty. Lo Mein wasn't terrible but ok. Pork fried rice is ok, no sprouts or egg like most places. We will probably only go back for Mai Tais. read more
