As much as I wanted to like this place, it needs serious improvements. The food, the decor, the furniture, the lighting, the buffet, the dining area all need major improvements. I've been coming to this place off and on for years and I noticed a new item on the menu but it was mislabeled fried banana which is not even close to being a banana although it looks like one that's actually a plantain bananas can't hold up to be fried. San Tan's are a lot thicker and stiffer it can hold up to deep fry. And they were done well, I will say that much they were very tasty, but they are not bananas! (SMH) Everything else on the buffet today was fresh for the most part We must have got here at a great time Not busy at all maybe six table tops filled including ours, everything's fresh some things are overcooked and crunchy that aren't supposed to be like donut holes but hey. Dragon Buffet is a nice, clean little Buffett in Huber Heights. It's your typical Chinese Buffett with all the normal offerings that you'd expect. My partner and I had dinner here and we were pleasantly surprised given that other Chinese buffet options in town aren't very appetizing. I wouldn't say it was the best I've had but for the price and what it is it's well worth the visit and we'll be returning in the future. read more

Great Improvements From Last Visit Decided to give them another chance and I'm glad we did. They're doing a lot better. Gave them a 1 star last time due to inedible food. This time the food was good, hot and fresh. They've brought back the pork ribs and now offer several types of shrimp. The only item I passed on due to looking old was the chicken wings. Had a guy cleaning off tables and removing dirty plates. Last time the place was a mess. Don't know if they've changed hands but somebody made some much needed changes. Prices are up a little. The only thing that this place has going for itself is the cheap price, $10.75 and includes a drink. What was weird is that you have to pay before you sit down to eat. Not totally uncommon but seemed weird for a buffet. The place looks dated and the owners are letting the interior fall apart. The booths where you sit are starting to look broken and are not being kept up. The air vents on the ceiling have dust bunnies coming out of every AC vent. This means they do not change the filters at all or very rarely. If they cannot change a filter on the regular, where else are they cutting corners? The floor looked fairly clean and the tables were cleared, so it is not a total disaster. I can over look how the place looks, hows does the food taste? Answer: old, stale, rubbery and just plain butt nasty! First thing to note, the selection is really small. They do not have many items to choose from and what they do have was sitting around for a long time. So the meats tasted rubbery, the coconut shrimp was really mushy and the egg rolls tasted like pre-chewed cow cud. I went to get some wanton soup and despite the bin being nearly full of liquid, there was only two wanton in the entire thing and they broke up just trying to fish them out. I ate the beef and green pepper and the meat was so rubbery and nasty that I could only take one bite. I am wondering what the local animal population is around the place. Do you know if anyone is missing some cats, pigeons or rats? Just wondering out loud I guess. The other thing I noticed is that the fried rice is nothing more than Yellow Spanish Rice. I wonder if they know that the rice is supposed to have soy sauce in it when it is made. On my way out I did notice the cook coming out to refill the buffet table and he was of Mexican descent. Probably explains the rice. Of all the things I did eat, the green beans were the best. They were cooked right and had good flavor. Of course I did get those as the cook finished refilling the buffet bin so they were the most fresh thing I ate there. I went to get dessert and there is not much to choose from that either, I decided on the ice cream and noticed they were out of chocolate so you could only get vanilla. That was fine so I pulled the lever to dispense the ice cream and it comes out in long logs looking like something that might come out of your back end. Despite the way it landed in my bowl, the taste was okay and it was not that cheap ice milk you get from some places, so I am giving them one star for that reason only. Overall conclusion: Skip this place. Even with the cheap price and using a coupon, this is not the place to eat. If you really want to eat Chinese Buffet, then consider the place over on Miller road. The price is nearly the same and quality of the food is a whole lot better with a much finer selection. This place is one and done for me. read more

There are several Chinese buffets in Dayton and this is by far the best. It's been my favorite for years. It's the only location that offers (really delicious and huge crab Rangoon) but they also offer the crab Rangoon filling in small cups to dip items in. There's only one person that posted pictures of this location, and they're very misleading. Not only did they slander the restaurant in the comment but also added text to the photo itself. Clearly they had a bone to pick. Their photos don't show all of the food bars. They have 1 wall section for desert. 1 smaller island for fruits and cookies. There is another medium sized island and two huge islands that are always full of different dishes whether it's breakfast or lunch. Applying common sense here, it's a buffet that ppl pay $8 for. During the day when it's not as busy, they don't change the food as often. If they did, they would go out of business. During the evening though everything is great and I love it. read more

I am disappointed in this place! When I got here I had gotten 3 takeout boxes which were all cracked... That wasn't really a problem but I was getting my food which looked a little mushy and hard! this is super unusual for this place but this isn't the first time it look like this. I currently have food poisoning from the food and constantly throwing up every couple hours even minutes and my chest hurting. I will never ever be eating this again this is just terrible. Dragon Buffet is one of my kids' favorite places to eat. It's consistently good for a family meal: we've always found the staff to be friendly and the buffet appears clean and well kept. The buffet has pretty much the same things every time we visit. It always includes a few nontraditional options like chicken tenders, last night it also had fried mozzarella sticks. Last night they could have used another person to bus tables, as there were several sitting empty with dishes stacked up for a while after the customers left. I should have been more suspicious as the Dragon Buffet (located at 6200 Brandt Pike, Dayton, OH 45424) has us pay before we ate... We arrived at start of dinner rush (5:45pm) and I would say 75-80% of the buffet items were leftover from lunch. We waited until more fresh food came out which was in small spurts. The fresh food was only a bit under par for a typical Chinese buffett. We had to get your own drinks and refills which was no big deal but not what I have seen at any other Chinese restaurants. The dinning area was kind of ran down and dirty, several ceiling tiles had water stains. It was just under $50 for 4 adults which is a little on the high side in my experience and certainly hi for the environment provided. Overall, we will not be repeat customers. read more

This use to be my favorite place to eat for Chinese. Went last night and food was all terrible. General tso chicken was soggy and nasty. Plus i always go after 6 so i can get crab legs off buffet. Literally the best BBQ ribs that I have ever had; they were so tender that they slipped to pieces as I poked at them with a chopstick. NormallyI wouldn't make much of the staff at a buffet, but this place was different. The woman at the front counter was very nice and polite, unlike some buffets where they seem to yell a number at you, grab your debit card, then yell in another language at someone far away. The busboy asked twice if he could please take our plate away followed by 'sir' directed at my companion. All of the food was fresh, even the rice, which was soft and full of flavor each time I checked in the hour and a half that we were there. The price was average for a buffet, about $7 for lunch and $10 for dinner, but drinks were included. The restaurant itself was clean, nicely decorated (ethnic without being cheap or tacky), and the music was very relaxing. The music consisted of soft instrumentals of asian influence as well as contemporary and popular songs (i.e. Over the Rainbow) played instrumentally and at a perfect background level. My friends and I drove out of our way to get here. We had heard nothing but good things about this establishment and were excited to give it a try. Needless to say, we were pregnant with anticipation. Much to our disappointment, however, they don't even have dragon on the menu. Call me old-fashioned, but if you are going to call your restaurant "Dragon Buffet," you should offer at least one kind of dragon dish. Despite our initial disappointment, we decided to eat here anyway. It was as delicious as our friends had described it to be. The General Tso's chicken was amazing. Still, you can flavor and cook a chicken in as many different and extravagant ways as you want; but at the end of the day, it's still just chicken and nowhere near the quality of a good piece of dragon. So, in summation, if you like dragonless Chinese food, look no further. The price and service are also worth the drive. Once your friends try this place, they will be "dragon" you here every week! Not overly impressed with the food or the selection. Some of the food I had on my plate was stone cold by the time I got back to the table. The layout of the food was strange too; i.e. dessert was mixed with meat options, ice cream toppings were mixed in with the duck sauce and spicy mustard. There was also no servers, you had to find your own utensils and napkins and also get your own beverages, which isn't that huge of a deal, just thought it was a little odd. Used to be good. The last couple times I have gone, however, all the food on the buffet was cold. Not even lukewarm. Cold, as in the steam tables had not even been on. Even the soup was cold. Being a buffet, you go and expect the food quality to be iffy in the first place. But for it to be cold- not even close to warm is just unacceptable. My friend swears by this place. I was extremely disappointed. First, it feels like ur in a giant conference room. Second, the food is ALL American Chinese NOT real Chinese. Third, they don't do anything for service, so the 1 thing they are supposed to (clean), they should have no problem with, yet the dishes pile up, the buffet stations are unappetizing, the floors, tables, and chairs need a good scrubbing...
