We went here on a whim craving Chinese food. We noticed the restaurant was completely empty and that should have been sign enough for us to go. But we stayed. While we were waiting, the place had a lot of pick up orders so we thought the food must be tasty. We ordered the salt and pepper shrimp ($19!) and the house chow mein. We were served on PAPER PLATES and never got water refills. While we were eating, the server came to ask how everything was and we said fine. Apparently she didn't like our answer because she then said "DELICIOUS, HUH?? It's delicious!!" It felt awkward. The shrimp was overpriced and not that great. The house chow mein was ok. Fast forward 48 hours and I have severe food poisoning from their shrimp. It has knocked me out for two days and I may need to go to hospital since I can't keep anything down. The Broccoli & Beef was flavorful with a well-balanced sauce that's not too salty. The beef was slightly chewy, but still enjoyable. The Salt & Pepper Fillet was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and had a nice kick of spiciness without being overly salty. The House Rice Noodles reminded me of pancit. The chicken was tender and juicy. Overall, everything was well-seasoned without being overly salty which lets the flavors shine. This is my go to for Chinese take out. I always experience friendly service especially from the nice lady who used to be the owner. Their salt and pepper wings are my favorite. (I like these better than the ones that everyone raves about from National City.) They have lunch specials, and I just realized (a couple hours after lunch) that we didn't get the soup that is supposed to come with the lunch special. Haha wow.. but their lunch special is one entree and steamed rice or fried rice, or chow mein for $1 more. I ordered their tofu and eggplant. It was very saucy, which i didn't care for. The tofu was soft, and eggplant was cooked fine. There was a slight spice, but not noticeable, so I added some Sriracha. We sat to eat there, which was a pretty clean place, but they still give your food in to-go containers with a flimsy plastic fork not sturdy enough to use for their chunky bell peppers. Water comes in a small paper cup and they sell you soda cans. They don't care to provide you service, but they expect your 15% tip. Although She offered to split our bill separately, we had to serve ourselves extra water from their pitcher, which was located near the kitchen. She didn't ask if we needed anything while we ate. What kind of restaurant are they trying to be now? It appears they used to have dinerware.. Most other Yelpers compare them to Panda Express, and maybe they could be, but they should revamp their restaurant as a takeout only place. This place serves all the classics (anything Panda Express has, this place has) and the prices are reasonable. After we ordered, we noticed the server brought out paper plates and plastic utensils. Reading the Yelp reviews I hesitate, but my craving talked me into giving it a try. I must say, the negative reviews about this place didn't ring true. I ordered the orange chicken lunch with chow mein. The chicken wasn't bland, and for the most part was crispy and fresh. The noodles were flavorful, and the egg drop soup was not worse nor better than other places. The only complaint was my appetizer (cream cheese wontons) came out after I finished my lunch. They were light and tasty, but I was too full to finish them after my lunch was devoured. Went in for dinner on a Friday night. There was no one inside. I didn't know there was a Chinese place in CMR and I'm glad I stopped by. I got the orange chicken with chow mein and a small size of their egg drop soup. Both were delicious, very flavorful. The service was great and the lady who was serving us was very kind and helpful. If you decide to eat inside the restaurant they'll serve the food to you in the to-go containers which is unusual but I didn't mind it. Makes the process of leaving much faster. I didn't feel rushed at all during the entire time I was there. They clearly get more orders for takeout as the entire time I was there eating, the few people coming in were ordering take out. I ordered a party tray of the fried chicken wings. I spoke to a friendly woman over the phone to place my order for pick up the next day at 11:30am. Upon arrival at 11:30am, my order was ready to go and it smelled delicious. I had to roll down the windows of my car. While it smelled delicious I definitely didn't want to smell the fried chicken in my car, as it'll make me crave this some more. The batter was crispy and there was a good flavor, a little more on the saltier side. It was topped with a lot of Szechuan peppers but it didn't make it spicy. Since we picked the dish up so early in the day, we just put it in the oven to reheat and it was good to go. It was still crispy. I will be ordering here in the future.
