I'm trying to be honest without being rude, but I want you friends in your plan to know the truth of my experience. Thai Ladle in Poway is tucked into a strip mall that's currently under some parking lot construction, which makes finding a spot a bit tricky. With all the nearby kid activities( like dance studios, kiddie gyms, and such) parking probably depends a lot on the time of day. Inside, the restaurant is small and appears clean, and the atmosphere is pleasant enough. The biggest disappointment is that they don't have a liquor license. No beer, wine, or sake, which would have totally turned me away if I figured it out a little faster. What can I say, a girl needs a Chardonnay sometimes. The food itself was good & reasonably priced ,, but not especially memorable. Basically, solid Thai food, but nothing that stands out. Service was friendly, but very slow. Like, very, very slow. We had to flag our server down each time we needed anything, and since we were the only customers, it was hard to understand why. That said, she was very nice and welcoming. One more downside: flies. The door wasn't propped open, yet there werea few of them buzzing around that we ended up covering our dishes with napkins toward the end of the meal. Thai Ladle has always been my go to place when it's been a long day and I don't feel like cooking. I've always found their food good, until tonight. First of all, I ordered for expedited delivery because I had a meeting that was going to start. It got here 30 minutes after the time window. I could've been OK with that but the extra peanut sauce I ordered was spilled all over the bag and in the food container and it was quite a mess. The food was not at the same quality I'm used to, it had a very off taste to it so I didn't finish it. I'm probably gonna be looking for my new favorite Thai place. read more

I stopped here on a whim, needed a quick snack got the "fresh" spring roll and chicken dumplings. It was personally a huge miss and a waste of money. The rice paper that was wrapped around the veggies wasn't very edible and my dumplings tasted as if they'd been refried or overcooked. We came here from the bay area. I know they have a lot of thai restaurants around the areas that I haven't tried. But this had always been my go-to place. The staff is so friendly and very organized. Food: 4.5/5 Service and Setting: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Thai Ladle is my favorite Thai restaurant in San Diego at the moment. I used to have a grudge against them because they replaced my local Indian buffet, but all is forgiven. I have not gone into the store for such a long time, but they are the best for delivery and always do an amazing job. They are my favorite Thai restaurant not because their flavors are on a different level, but because they are very consistent and use great ingredients which unfortunately is not the case for many other Thai restaurants here (no shade to anyone in particular). Side note, the best protein here is definitely their beef! Chicken Satay: 4/5 This dish is not very special and I would even say that it is even slightly on the dry side; however, there is something very addictive about it. Is it the shape, the sauce? I have no idea. The satay sauce that they give you is not too salty and is slightly sweet. While it is not complex, I definitely have a hard time replicating it with the same feel at home. I wish that the portion was a little bigger for its price, maybe another skewer or two? Pineapple Fried Rice: 4.5/5 This by far is my favorite pineapple fried rice. I know that I said that beef was the best protein and this is shrimp, but their shrimp is very fresh and large, a solid runner up. They put the perfect amount of ingredients while I feel that many other restaurants are very stingy, especially with the cashews. The curry flavor along with the sweet pineapple makes this a must get to share or for just yourself! Tom Kha Soup: 4.5/5 I normally don't get soup, but my friend gifted me some delivery and I am so glad that he did. It is similar to some of their curries but has a distinct sourness that makes it refreshing. The coconut gives the soup a slight sweetness while enhancing the savory notes of the broth. This is a great companion for any of their dishes for a splash of moisture and change of pace to refresh your palate, highly recommend! Papaya Salad: 4.5/5 An issue that I have with some papaya salad is that the fermented flavor is crazy. Though I know lighter versions may not be as authentic, something about eating fresh fruit and veggies with funk gives me weird vibes. The papaya salad served here is super fresh and appetizing with a perfect blend of sweet, salty, sour, and savoriness. You definitely get some kick with fish sauce but it's not paralyzing powerful. A must get! Thai Tea: 4/5 Getting thai tea at a restaurant versus a boba shop always hits different, you know? Their tea is sweet, rich, smooth, smokey, and has warm notes of vanilla. I have seen thai tea being made and I know that there usually isn't something special about the ways people make it, but I say Thai Ladle's thai tea is good and a great way to wash down some spice. read more

I ordered from Thai Ladle to have it delivered to my home and im so glad I did. I ordered the papaya salad ($8.75) and pineapple curry with tofu ($11.75) with a side of jasmine rice ($2.00). Everything tasted great. The papaya salad was super spicy (i asked for the "hot" spice level) and it definitely delivered! I couldnt even finish it because my mouth was on fire. The pineapple curry was piping hot and flavorful. I finished all of it! The rice was perfectly cooked as well. I cant speak about the service or anything about the physical location since I got delivery but im assuming everything was clean and the staff is nice! Sadly, wouldn't recommend this place and sorely disappointed :( my husband was very excited to try it and has been talking about it for awhile Came for lunch special and the fried rice was pretty much cold and did not seem fresh. The rice was soggy, the fried tofu limp, and there was no taste to it. The "lunch special" included a small side dish of salad with one samosa and one egg roll, which were also fairly cold. The other thing is that they used pho noodles vs pad thai thicker noodles, so it was really soggy. I probably would try other items next time. not pad thai. read more

Initially wanted to try Joyee but they were madly backlogged and some of the items I wanted they were sold out so we Yelped around and found this alternative within the same plaza. I'm usually not a fan of Thai food in Socal as they have been very mediorce at best. The reviews here looked decent so we got takeout here and we were pleasantly surprised with the taste and quality. I did not expect decent asian food in Poway of all places. I got the beef pad -see eww and the noodles were cooked very well. Not too oily and the beef was cooked well, nice and tender. Some places tend to over sweeten the whole dish but they did it just right here. I would order this item again in a heart beat. My generous company ordered food for us from Thai Ladle one day. I picked the Pad Thai with the spice level at Hot. I thought, usually places tone it down a bit and since there was a level higher than Hot (Thai Hot) I thought I would be good, I like spicy, so no problem. Holy sh!t I was wrong. I took my first bite and the heat slowly started radiating in my mouth. My nose instantly started to run and I could feel like my face turning red. Despite all the signs of it being super spicy. I could not stop eating. The Pad Thai was soo good. The heat didn't take away or mask the flavor. It kind of enhanced it and made it that much better. I did have to drink a lot of water. But, I managed to finish it. It was too good not to finish. Next time I'll take it down a notch and just get medium spicy haha read more

Thai Ladle has SUPER FLAVORSOME food that was made for takeout in less than 15 minutes. The cashier lady was KIND and NICE as well and PATIENT to answer all of my questions over the phone. My only complaint is that the takeout portions are a bit on the SMALLER side, but the QUALITY of all of the food we ordered is TOP NOTCH. This place is super delicious! I ordered three things for takeout: Tofu Pad Thai no-spicy, Chicken Pad See Ew medium-spicy, and Chicken Spicy Noodles, spicy. Every item was spot on and super delicious. I took the chicken pad thai and my parents took the other two items, so I'll focus on that. First off, the noodles themselves were cooked at a perfect texture. You bite into it and there's a bit of chew, but not too much and not too little which was very enjoyable. The broccoli was sliced into bite sized pieces which was pleasant rather than having to scarf down huge pieces of broccoli. The chicken was super lean, which is what I prefer. Some might have considered it a bit on the drier side but I would always prefer lean meat over fatty meat. Most importantly, the noodles did not have as much oil as other places that I've been to which is a huge plus. I really enjoyed my meal and would 100% come back. I have to admit, this little nondescript shop in a boring strip mall, surprised the heck out of me. I was originally going to meet the hubby for lunch somewhere else, but that particular restaurant was shut for renovations. So we took a chance on Thai Ladle. The food was amazing. I ordered the Larb salad and the hubby just got a bowl of Tom Kah with chicken. I can eat my food very, very spicy and ordered my larb extra hot (for the record "Thai Hot" is a step above this. The hubby had his soup at medium hot. This was the first time since I've been to Thailand that I didn't have to add chilies to my dish. It was so hot, and I was so happy! The hubby's soup was a proper medium as well, and he really enjoyed it. My only "bitch" was that the Jasmine tea I ordered was $3 and all I got was a cup with a single tea bag. I'm calling shenanigans on this. I buy Jasmine tea at the Asian market all the time. I just got charged $3 for a 10 cent tea bag! Next time, I'll just get a glass of water. I've tried many Thai restaurants here in San Diego and I'll have to say this location is the best so far. I came here for dinner tonight with my sister and we were both very impressed. The environment was nice and quiet, our waitress was nice and checked in on us for water refills and to see how we were doing. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai with the spice level medium. It wasn't too spicy and it was packed with flavor. My sister ordered the Chicken Spicy Noodles with the spice level medium. Her noodles were a little spicer than my food but again it still had amazing flavor. We shared an appetizer of veggie egg rolls and they were crispy and fresh. The sweet and sour dipping sauce was very delicious as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food. I will be returning again. read more

Update as of 6/17/2020 I ordered take out and got pad see-ew and cheesy wontons for delivery. I was excited that delivery was free for some reason! The pad see-ew was spot on. Wide noodles cooked to perfection, spice level medium, with chicken and broccoli with a crunch. The cheesy wonton's had amazing flavor. This time they were a tad undercooked so they were a bit doughy in parts. They could have used a few minutes longer to cook. The flavor was solid, however. I want to order from here again and try out their panang curry again. Give them a try. 2019 October 19: I went in same day to get catered food for a business maintnenance. Ordered over $400 worth!!! I came in at noon to have food for 5pm. I had to feed carnivores and vegetarians. I started ordering large trays. So I ordered: Large Sampler Small pad Thai with tofu - Thai spicy Large yellow curry with veg and tofu - hot spicy Large panang curry veg and tofu - hot spicy Large pad see-ew with veg and tofu - spicy med/hot Large Panang curry with chicken - spicy hot Large spicy noodle with chicken - spicy med/hot Large Pad see-ew with pork - spicy med/hot When I got home I realized, I'm feeding 20 people and I didn't need to get all large. I just happened to see this place on UberEat and decided to give it a try. I ordered pad Thai, red curry and Tom yum soup for to go. They were well packed for take-out orders. Price is very reasonable for the amount of food we got. Tom Yum soup was so flavorful and tasty. I've had many Tom Yum soup from a lot of Thai food places. This is probably one of the best I had. I've only been here a couple of time since they changed from Pinto Thai to Thai Ladle. I feel like the taste of the food has stayed about the same. I've tried the Cashew Chicken and the Chicken Pad Thai. They have a lunch menu but Cashew Chicken is not on the lunch menu. I have had the Chicken Pad Thai Lunch special. It's served with a small salad (a taster salad, if you will) and a couple of fried appetizers. I always enjoy a fried appetizer. Unfortunately, if you take the lunch to go, the salad gets very wilted. The Chicken Pad Thai has good flavor and is not too fishy. I ordered mine medium spicy and it was really spicy but I still enjoyed it. Service is friendly and extremely fast. Wow!! Fantastic Thai food at a reasonable price. Please and thank you! Although I initially vowed to stop using Door Dash due to the exorbitant fees, I noticed that the delivery charge was only $1.99 for Thai Ladle to deliver to my work. I was famished and couldn't leave my desk, plus an apple wasn't gonna cut it for work today, lol. After reading reviews on Yelp, Thai Ladle seemed to be a win for those in the Poway area. I decided on the Larb salad and a side of sticky rice. Not only did it arrive in less than 30 minutes after I ordered it, but it came so nicely packaged with care but the food was outstanding! I really appreciated how the salad wasn't just a pile of lettuce with a sprinkling of ground chicken. There was so much meat, seasoned up just right with red onion slices sprinkled in on a bed of lettuce...delish! And the sticky rice arrived was wrapped up in cellophane and placed in a insulated paper bag so it arrived nice and hot. Very thoughtful. The container wasn't too large so I thought I'd still be hungry after but it was deceptively filling. I could only eat half of it with half the ball of rice and I am stuffed! Although I have yet to visit the physical location, I am so happy with the timeliness of my order and the care in which it was delivered. Can't wait to stop by with my co-workers for lunch one day. I started with the Thai spring rolls. they were clearly fresh, but the peanut dipping sauce was the highlight (they weren't bad, just not remarkable). But them I moved on to Tom Ka with chicken, "Thai spicy". I have had Tom Ka in at least a dozen restaurants - it is my favorite dish, and a good gauge on how any other food will be.
