Week 2 of the flu and we again turn to our favorite Thai restaurant. Tom kha with tofu is Excellent Tom Yum with chicken or Tofu Excellent Thai fried rice shrimp Amazing We always buy 2 of the soups. We love Iron Pan because they let you change the spice level. Some other places say spice level 1 but it is a 3 too hot for the kids. We appreciate that they can omit certain ingredients such as a bell pepper or onion for our allergy kid. Food is always hot and fresh. Woman and man are so nice there. read more

Chef Chris prepared my lunch order today of Pad See Ew, Level 3; just the way I like it! It was delicious, fresh, and prepared in a timely fashion, which was important as I was picking up lunch. Had lunch here for the first time. They have lunch specials that include a small salad & an egg roll. We tried the Khee Mao Noodle plate (drunken noodles) & the crab fried rice. We enjoyed both dishes. I couldn't decide on pad Thai noodles or drunken noodles. I was really happy with the drunken noodles. Atmosphere here is very laid back and they do have outdoor seating. It wasn't very hot out yet so was okay sitting outdoors. I'd come back to try something different. Looks like a lot of locals cone regularly. read more

Nice little restaurant in the Sprouts shopping plaza. It was empty for lunch on a Friday when we were there. We sat outside on their patio. Service was very friendly and nice. It was a little cold so they turned on the patio heater for us. We ordered their lunch specials. I think the portions were good considering that their prices were still affordable. read more

Looking for a place to eat in Poway after Pickleball and we came upon this restaurant. I ordered the Thai Crab Fried Rice and it was tasty. I had level three spice recommended by the server. I think it was just right for me. My friend had the lunch special Pad Thai, but didn't feel like it was enough to satisfy her. She was still quite hungry. They didn't have the crab fried rice as a lunch option so the entrée was enough for me. The service was nice and friendly. A server recommended. We have a seat in the outdoor patio because it was cooler than indoors. It was a warm day in Poway, but there was a breeze and the patio recommendation was a good one. I'm not sure I would come back again, but no real complaints on my end. read more

Came here for lunch on a hot, sunny Thursday. Outdoor seating highly recommended. Well-shaded. Cool breeze (can't guarantee the breeze is a regular occurrence!). Our server was attentive. Checked in with us to see how everything was. It was good. We ordered from the lunch special menu, so everything comes with a small salad and one little roll. I had 3 shrimp in my curry. Would've been nice to have one or two more to balance with the veggies. Good flavor. Rice felt a little dry/old. My Thai Iced Tea was very refreshing. Sweet, but not too much. Another customer had mango and sticky rice that looked delicious, but I was too full to try it...just enjoyed looking at it. Give this place a try! read more

Friendly and fast service, good food, in a nook with small outdoor dining with great music. More people come for take out than eat there. They ask for spicy on a scale of 1-10. Recommend a 5 for mild, 7 for medium and 10 for hot. Beverage selection is a minimum, but includes the basics. I would happily go again. read more

We moved to the area about a year ago and super excited to find this place. It's now our go-to Thai spot. My kids LOVE the chicken satay. And I'm a big fan of the pad see ew with steamed tofu. My husband loves the Thai basil chicken. We are now regulars -- either dining in or taking out. Ever since finding this place, we've pretty much abandoned Panda Express down the street. Iron Pan = great food + great service! It may not be the prettiest restaurant, but the food is delicious and the portions are perfect. My boss ordered lunch for us today (5/23/25) and I got the Pad Thai with beef. The portion size was good, but it was all noodle. I ordered the beef (at extra cost) but I would have gotten more meat from a kids meal burger at McDs. I did find a couple bean sprouts, but the chopped peanuts were nowhere to be found. I just moved to the area and was driving around with my husband when we stumbled upon this restaurant. We decided to give it a try and wow. It was absolutely delicious. The food exceeded my expectations and since we just moved here, I'm happy we found a solid Thai restaurant cause we love our Thai food. The only downside was that the wait was 30 minutes for a takeout order. It'd probably be better to call ahead or place the order and go to sprouts or something. Lots of good shops in the area too. Went here for a quick lunch, cashew nut chicken was on my mind. Flavor was good, the staff were all super friendly. Their version of cashew nut includes carrots, zucchini, onions. Spice your choice 1 to 10, I got mid range and it was perfect. The chicken was a little rubbery which surprised me for chicken breast, but not enough to take anything away from it. The rice comes pressed into a flower shaped mold and served on a plate. I got Thai tea to go along with it. The restaurant itself is at the end of a small restaurant strip, corner spot, and has seating inside and out. Will be back again. read more

Never knew this Thai restaurant existed. It was opened for more than 10 years! Lunch special @$10.95 each is very reasonable but portion is very small. It comes with a tiny bowl of salad and a crispy roll. The crispy roll is a bit too plain. Ordered drunken noodle with beef and spicy eggplant with soft tofu at level 3 which is just the right amount of spice. Added fish sauce with Thai chili as needed to spice it up. Both dishes were delicious. The only qualms I have is that they put baby corn in drunken noodle. Never seen that in all my years of eating drunken noodle (weird). In the future, we would order the normal portion instead of the smaller portion lunch special since we are not crazy about the crispy roll. Chris was very helpful and attentive. I find it funny that the picture that Yelp chooses to represent this place is a photo of their crispy rolls considering how bland they are. That's the main problem with this place: everything is bland. Their crispy spring rolls tasted like nothing, and the sauce they came with tasted like dirty dish water. The pra ram was in a pool of liquid, and it only came with one small cup of peanut sauce whose flavor was completely drowned out by the liquid. It tasted alright, but not like pra ram. Lastly, their green curry fried rice was the best tasting this I tried, but that's not saying much. While it did have a decent current flavor, it too was bland compared to other fried rice that I've had. There are way better thai places around for the price. read more

PARKING: plenty of parking in this large Poway plaza with sprouts and vons. In the same row of eateries as baba kabob & everbowl. AMBIANCE: There are about 5 tables inside and several tables outside in the patio. As you enter, the waitress will ask if you want to be seated inside or outside. The decor is cute inside with the elephants. Place is very clean. No smoking is allowed anywhere near the building which is nice. There is a menu before you enter so you can look for something you want before sitting down and eating here. SERVICE: It's a family owned place. We only had contact with one person who is the waiter/server/cashier whom is in front. She is very nice. We had our waters filled and food came out pretty quick. FOOD: Came here during lunch and ordered from the lunch special (11am-3pm) which is reasonably priced ranging from $7.95 to $10.95 depending on your selection of meat. We decided to try the Green Curry with fried tofu ($8.95) and the Drunken Noodles with mock duck ($9.95). They both tasted as I would have expected. Nothing too unique or different, flavor was there, but not amazing out of this world burst of flavors that would make it stand out. Portions are a bit small. Spiciness level like any other thai place is 0-10. Salad is covered in a peanut sauce. Soup of the day tasted like Tom-yum. I enjoyed my lunch. This place is a nice place for lunch if you are in the neighborhood. I probably would not go out of my way to come here though, like a thai place such as Sab-e-lee or something. My favorite is the basil eggplant, which comes served in a rich black bean sauce with plenty of eggplant. I've also had the mixed vegetable, which is a generous portion of stir-fried veggies of every color, including my favorite: baby corn. The restaurant is no-frills, a compact restaurant with a tight outdoor patio, but the food is worth the less-than-manicured ambiance. I'm always going to be a huge fan of quality food at great prices! My friend and I were attracted to the delicious smell coming from Iron Pan while we were getting food nearby and we made a mental note to come back! Happy to say that we followed through and we were able to eat the amazing food that we were smelling! We were greeted right away and were able to pick our own table, we sat outdoors, the way the restaurant it positioned, there was plenty of shaded outdoor seating so it was nice to be out! We ordered lunch (pad thai and drunken noodles - spice level 5). Food was out pretty quickly, under 10 minutes I'd say and our entrees came with an eggroll, vinegar dipping sauce and side salad with peanut dressing. Your basic sides with thai food but all were so yummy and filling! My chicken pad thai had perfect tender chicken and the level 5 spice was basically perfect, I could've even gone a bit more on the spice but I though 5 was safe to start lol. The pad thai was plentiful, a much larger serving than expected but there that value for ya. Both our meals were just under $20 including drinks so safe to say that we will be back! From a Thai-American's opinion, this place rocks! I love their lunch specials and Thai tea. Their pad woon sen (stir fried glass noodle) is really good and the Tom Yum tofu is my favorite. You can't go wrong with the pad see eww and drunken noodles too ;) The service is excellent! There's only a few servers but, they are very friendly. I can't believe I haven't been here before! Appreciated the overview of the menu from the man at the counter- and discussion of spice levels. We ordered Panang curry, level 8, for spice loving person. He loved it- his fave panang so far (unfortunately he lives in CO!)- he loved all the green beans with the pork, the flavor, the spice, and that it is not over the top creamy. We all shared the roti to start- new to me, loved the curry sauce! Then shared Pad See Ew, spice level 3 and mixed vegetables with tofu, spice level 4. Great flavors, well cooked, just very good.
