My husband ordered from the restaurant next door and I couldn't really find anything I wanted to eat so I looked at the menu next door and the one thing I wanted to try they were out. So I just decided to get the chicken with fried rice. I'm actually really glad I tried it. Their fried rice is mixed very well with seasoning and they don't skimp even in this tiny looking box. The chicken was cooked through and was really tasty. I can't put my finger on the taste, but the seasoning taste very familiar. The restaurant was dead. Didn't really look like they get too busy, but I will be back. Decor is a bit outdated and the menu looks like it could use some TLC. Hopefully the chow fun is available when I come back. I really want to try it.

This is my go to in Fredericksburg for Chinese take out. They do it just as should be done. Repeat business is the best review.

Walking in, it was completely empty, no customers. By the time I left, several tables were sat and they had a steady stream of carry-out/delivery pickups. The service was very spotty, as they only had two people working the dining room and so many people went without someone checking them in, I waited about 15 mins for my check and those delivery drivers formed a line waiting for their pickups. I tried their spicy cucumber salad and their three pepper beef, but I sub'd out the beef for chicken instead. The cucumbers were decent, they had a nice spice to them and the vegetable itself was fresh. The three pepper chicken came out on a sizzling platter (a fajita platter with aluminum foil on it) and looked pretty good. My first few bites had the great flavor of wok hei, which I love! But I quickly noticed there was no other flavor other than some sort of pickled pepper flavor, which is very odd in Chinese food. The chicken texture was great, but the entire dish was swimming in vegetal oil, it wasn't dry spiced and wok'd. Overall, this visit was only slightly better than the first, only because they were open this time. But I most definitely wouldn't return. I absolutely love and seek out authentic Chinese foods (Szechuan, Hunan, etc) when I travel and those this place offers many authentic style dishes, they seem a little too "Americanized."

Overall food was amazing and would recommend Affordability: well priced and big portions Ambiance: no frills, authentic, feels like a place that has been here for a while Service: helps to know Chinese, but they do have English menus Good for: authentic chinese food with malay flavors Will definitely be coming back!

The challenge of the menu is its size: it includes old school standards that your father may have ordered, yet has some much more interesting and tongue-tingling szechuan options also. So it behooves the diner to take time to read through thr long menu carefully and to order selectively. Service is efficient and special requests are handled with grace, rather than the eye rolling of their peers. We first ordered crispy beef, which wws well executed with the beef shreds still juicy despite their crackle coating. The sauce had a mild bit of chili heat and subtle sweetness, and was generously salted with a medley of julienned veggies. Our second dish was General Tao Chicken, which is more commonly known as General Tso. It was again, a very well executed version of what has become a popular classic, with perfectly coated and fried nuggets of tender chicken breastfeeding in a sweet and spicy sauce served with broccoli and chili peppers. Sichuan Pavilion is very snug, amd something of a "rabbit warren" with a series of rooms connected by tight pathways. Tables can be small, so try to book in advance. Also, some of the best dishes are the more traditional szechuan style, do take the time to ask your server about them and be prepared for some heat.

Was feeling hangry because I had planned on stopping at Hard Times for a bowl of chili -and found out they were closed on Mondays. So, pretty much pulled a name out of a hat and would up at Chuan Tian Xia because, well, Szechuan cooking uses chiles, no? Yesssss! I ordered Signature Dumplings and a bowl of Beijing-style Beijing-style Zhajiang Noodles. The dumplings were outstanding: a mix of shrimp, pork, and chive that were plump, juicy, fragrant with the herbaceous flavor of chives. The accompanying sauce was not too sweet, not too hot, just right as a complement to the dumplings. Yowza. I was a happy camper... ...and then I dug into my noodles. Double yowza! Thick wheat noodles topped with a rich sauce made from (I think) fermented soybean paste and braised pork belly, garnished with cucumbers. The portion was way to big for me to eat after my flight, but I really, really enjoyed it (and the remaining dumplings) for lunch today. Did I say yowza? I'm an adventurous eater so the menu's less Americanized items were what I would have ordered given more time (like Maoxuewang: can you say "pig's tongue, spam, pork intestine, and beef tripe"? Protein is protein, baby!). Just means I need to come back, and I will, as quickly as I can.
