We ordered a 6-person combo and added a few added plates, and portions were generous. Flavours were also well seasoned and fresh. I especially liked the chicken & dumpling soup in a clay pot. Here for dim sum. Service is friendly and nice, but the food is solid 3. None exceptional, none terrible. Price is rather affordable, adequate for the quality. No complain for what I paid for. Unfortunately my experience did not match their claim "Michelin-starred" "High-end Cantonese Restaurant" (according to their website). So, I guess I felt disappointed solely due to my having too high an expectation. We had: # Deep Fried Taro & Pork Dumpling # Beef Ribs (steamed) with black pepper # Har gow # Steamed vegetable dumplings # Steamed Sticky Rice W/ Chicken In Lotus Leaf # Hot and sour soup # XLB # red rice noodle roll with crunchy shrimp One thing I felt was the texture of shrimps were a bit dry and crumbly. Finally got a chance to try their dim sum with my parents after years. They had an early bird special order before 11am it's $4.98 for all the s, m, L size dim sum one flat rate each! It was only the 3 of us so we got 4 savory dishes and 2 sweet ones. Everything was delicious! You have to come early to snatch a table! Otherwise it's just à la carte prices! The thing that stood out to us was the presentation of the Dubai chocolate mochi came with dry ice (see video) smoky effect was interesting! Came thru this dim sum place when traveling in Toronto. Waited a little to be seated. After asking about drinks, they sat the tea kettle down with another jug of hot water. We did not have a waiter/waitress come to our table at all. They can definitely step it up in terms of customer service. Food tends to be on the sweeter side. We got the zhong zi because it happens to be Duan Wu jie. It seems store brought because the egg yolk was semi-solid and not hot inside. Not the best tea place you think of, but doable. read more

Came here for dim sum, second time in many years to be honest. The place is located in front of the Chalmers plaza. Parking here is horrendous, whoever designed the indoor parking did not measure correctly or did not take into account a few things for sure. Made a reservation for sure because dim sun gets busy in this location. The place is huge, lots of seats, we got seated at the private rooms area. Food came quickly as usual, they have this peashoots dumpling with shrimp apparently, ours did not come with any shrimps... Aside from that I'd say it's a decent dimsum place. In the end they gave us $20 off coupons but it's a dine in only, dinner time and must spend at least $300+ or something. It was all in Chinese so my father in-law said no to it as well. The server kept coming to our table even tho we couldn't make up our mind. We decided to go with their dinner special. Everything was good! We enjoyed it. I've been here several times before and it's solid. Back again for a dinner and was not disappointed. Excellent value too. Had the Peking duck which was good with nice thin wraps. It was followed by cabbage wrapped meat which has a surcharge. Also had the New Zealand eel with black bean sauce dish and it was good. Sweet and sour pork also delicious Bbq suckling pig was also good but the shredded jelly fish was too sweet. Also, instead of more jelly fish they had the Japanese green seaweed. We haven't been here in a few years. Interior is the same but they have upgraded the dishes. There is a regular menu and a separate menu for special combo dinners. For some reason when we were seated we were not given the regular menu but the plan was to order the combination dinner anyhow. There are a few options and we decided to go with the one that came with lobster and a curry crab dish. You can order naan with the crab but it's an extra cost. Lobster was incredibly small as was the crab. Portions in general seem small. Flavours were okay. Combo comes with a choice of soup as well as the standard dessert. Service was good despite the restaurant being busy for a Wednesday night. Attentive. They do allow customers to bring their own bottle (wine) and it seems lots of people were doing this. Every so often my family orders dim sum takeout from here on sundays because they have a "pickup only" special where every dim sum (S, M, L) are all $5.38. So to capitalize on this deal we usually order all "L" priced items. Strictly from a dim sum POV, this place is a 4 star rating. The snow mountain topping bbq pork buns are actually really good and the siu mais are massive. The rice rolls do fall a lil short because sometimes the rice crepes are WAYYYY TOO THICK. Same with the shrimp dumplings. The rice wrapper is sometimes way too thick. My family has been here for dinner once and it wasn't a good experience (the curry crab was just overly salty and it's hard to compete when Saigon Star is right across the road) but I will give this place a 4 star rating because I'm judging them by their dim sum which is above avg in quality and the pickup special deal is an underrated secret! read more

A delicious and very popular spot for dim sum! I came here on a friend's recommendation and we just had to come back and introduce more family to this restaurant's food. The dim sum is reasonably priced for the quantity and QUALITY of food you receive. Every dish was so unique tasting, it's definitely a different style of dim sum I'm not accustomed to eating. Service is quick and fast, very efficient given how busy this restaurant gets. Inside is very clean, spacious and usually packed which goes to show how popular it is. I visited My Wonderful Kitchen with my folks and their friends for a reunion and we really enjoyed our experience! As we were deciding on a menu, the maître d' offered some great suggestions based on our preferences and dietary restrictions. The price for the set was fair with the variety and quality we received. In terms of some highlights, I would suggest the 4 Pound Lobster with Butter Cream and White Wine Sauce. Taking a play on seafood chowder, the delicately sweet lobster pairs well with the hearty chowder-like sauce that also comes with minced bacon and white mushrooms. It pairs well with a bowl of rice! The Steamed Vancouver Crab with Garlic was a minor meltdown as the sauce was a tad watered down. If more curry powder or spices were added, the steamed crab with vermicelli would be a home run. The stir fried Sea Cucumber was perfectly cooked and pairs well with green onions and onion! Overall, we really enjoyed the reunion meal and I can't wait to be back soon! read more

I came here for an early dim sum on a Sunday. This place is located behind the building that you can see from Highway 7. There is parking all around the plaza as well as in a covered lot. The staff were really welcoming and immediately greeted us upon entry. One unique thing about this place is that they have a few booths at the front for dining. The menu has a lot of classic favs. A feature is salted egg yolk buns that are yellow on the outside and with cute edible eyes. We didn't get it this time but I saw many at other tables. The backside of the menu is only served after 11am so we did have to wait to order soup noodles from the back. Pretty tasty and a nice vibe. To me, the tableware looked modern and elegant but my mom told me that it's actually pretty traditional! Would come back for another meal. read more

My wonderful kitchen is not as wonderful anymore. I used to be frequently ordering their takeout dim sum which was with good quality. Recently, tried their dinner with a group of people. We ordered their dinner combo. The food at dinner was mediocre. The fish dish was sliced fish instead and was super hard and not fresh. The worst was the service. We were lectured by different servers at the restaurant saying we were not making sense to request for booster seat for the little one and also they refused to provide us with shareable plates for desserts with really awful attitude. I'm wondering if the servers here are underpaid? I'm not revisiting this place for dine-in again unless they fine-tune their problem. read more

Been here twice recently for dinner. The service is amazing, very attentive and helpful, we dined in the back room which is semi private. The room is quieter which was so much better for conversations . The food is delicious, everyone enjoyed each of the dishes. Been here a few times for their early bird dimsum special. $5.28 for any S, M, L dim sum dish before 1100, not bad. Also special lunch, dinner combos, unheard of reasonable prices during these high inflationary times. As long as you don't mind the screaming service staff, annoying but it keeps things efficiently moving along. Maybe not the best dimsum but for the price, I'm a happy dimsum customer. Rice rolls are a little too thick for my preference, however, the don't skimp on the fillings either beef, pork, or shrimp. Pumpkin congee comes in a big wooden pot with cover, well worth the special price. Chicken feet flavorful, skin easily falls off the toes/claws, lol, sounds horrendous but believe me it's tasty. The rest, lotus leave wrapped chicken rice, meatballs, shrimp dumplings, bean curd skin wrapped veg all meet my recommended dimsum standards (although I've been told my standards are not very high, lol) Great food value for the money, another added benefit, before leaving, don't forget to ask for the $20 off coupons good for the combo specials and normal entree dishes. We come here every now and then for dim sum (even though there's always a long wait) and decided to come try dinner as I was really craving some peking duck.  The dinner menu seems to mainly be just set meals. We ordered the set with 2 extra dishes and upgraded our 2nd course for the peking duck to the lettuce wraps. Food came out pretty quick. Overall the food was decent; wasn't too outstanding but nothing much to complain about. Peking duck wraps were a little thicker than I prefer, and I wish it came with more wraps, but that mainly was it. It was a lot of food for 4 people and we ended up having to take some home. The set meal came with dessert as well in which we got tofu pudding, yum!  I do think that the price though was a little high for what we received. We had bought our own cake as we were celebrating a birthday and they were nice enough to serve the cake on a cake stand instead of just bringing it out in the box. Made it look much nicer. They even had tried to offer us a candle as they noticed we didn't bring one. That was really nice of our waitress.  Overall, a decent Chinese restaurant. I would probably continue to come for dim sum but may opt for other places for dinner especially if I'm looking for peking duck. read more

4.5 stars overall. 5 stars for the food - we liked dinner at My Wonderful Kitchen so much, we returned two nights later for dinner again. All the food was spot on. Peking duck was fantastic, and came with a unique, and larger spread of toppings than usual - wakame, blueberries, and additional sauces in addition to the regular cucumber, carrot, and green onions. The braised beef rib was tender and fall-off-the-bone. Sauteed fish fillet was tender and delicious (at many other restaurants, this dish tends to taste fishy - this was definitely not the case here). The sauteed green beans and eggplant was one of my faves. The mushroom and veggie dish had tons of mushrooms, in at least 4 different varieties. On our return trip, we ordered many of the same dishes, but tried the roast suckling pig too - one of the best I've had in a long time. This is clearly a fantastic dinner restaurant given the number of birthday dinners we witnessed during our two visits. Minus half a star because the the place is really loud, and it can be very hard to hear your dining companions across the table. It took a couple tries to receive the forks we asked for. And they don't have glasses of iced tap water - only bottled water. read more

We went for their banquet dinner 2 nights ago. The food was very good. But we were not happy with their deceptive advertising on the tax, and discount coupons, as they're not applying what they advertised. The dinner for 10 reg. price is $1,188, cash price $638+ tax, if you have VIP card, the price is $598+ tax. It also says in menu flyer that Mon to Fri, they charge only 8% tax; then there's 13% service charge (which is fine). We have VIP card and 3 $20 discount coupons. Each $20 coupon can be applied to every $100 spent on meal. So we were expecting to pay a total of either $656.57 or $669.80 depending on where the $60 discount in coupons is applied - before or after tax. However the total we were charged was $763.58. Our objection is that they charged 13% tax instead of 8% tax as advertised, and they also did not apply the $60 discount in coupons we gave them. When we complained, they refused to correct it and said the total is what their computer program came up with so they cannot do anything about it. So we were overcharged by about $100. It made an otherwise wonderful dinner into some bitter experience. We were disappointed and upset. Same thing happened to a friend some time ago. I seldom make comments/reviews but I thought I should say something here so that others may be warned. read more

Food is ok at best. Services need to improve. Yes, we went there because they have special price when order before 11am, but we won't come back because of bad service. We ordered 8 dishes for 4 of us. The tangerine fish congee is ok at best. My youngest said I make better congee. The steamed dumplings skin is too thick. The skin rice roll is also too thick. Overall, food is average at best. Service is bad. This is common for most Chinese restaurants. What I got upset is that I signalled to add more hot water to the teapot, the floor captain can walked by 4 times without acknowledge it. The hostess also saw it. When I waved the pot at her, she just said "wait", but never come back to check. By the time we caught a server, she just poured the hot water from the hot water jug with an attitude. If I was told this when I sat down, I would not waste my time. I have to say the servers are ok to good, but the management level is terrible. They have regulars that they call by name, but I doubt they will get more. read more

This restaurant honestly was just regular , a bit on the lacking side . There are better places with either tastier food or cheaper and just as good ! We had lobster lo mein , and it tasted really watered down . Prob the worse I've had so far. We also had some shrimp , scallop fried rice . The dish was just odd ... it fully said fried rice but for some reason it also came with vermicelli lol. We almost felt they gave us the wrong dish until we saw little specs of rice in there lol . The ha gow were huge but taste wise just average . I swear I also found a chunk of fully uncooked shrimp in there . I tried to ask around the table why my shrimp looked gray . No one knew but I didn't eat it . I don't have the best judgement with knowing if food is cooked but this one was gray so definitely not editable :/ Siu Mai was average too . Mushroom corn soup was tasteless . I liked the spring rolls and the steamed bamboo rice , that's about it Wouldn't come back.. at least by choice . My wonderful kitchen has been around for a long time, but it still does a great job! I hadn't dined here for several years and came back last weekend with some friends and we had a great meal! All the dim sum items were delicious, fresh and served promptly. I would say that the service here is way better than many other restaurants. Our servers were extremely friendly and attentive, which is not that common. This restaurant is pretty popular. It was completely packed and full of activity which we enjoy when we're having dim sum. Our favorite items was the har gow, and shrimp rice rolls. They also have this fun mango dessert which comes with dry ice and is pretty visually stunning. We did take some photos of that dessert for the ladies. Overall an enjoyable delicious dim sum experience in the heart of Richmond Hill. read more

Got takeout from here as they were doing a lobster/peking duck wrap combo meal for $138 + tax. Craving lobster and there's actually quite a handful of places that have these sort of combos going on in the RHill area as all the restaurants transition to the takeout only model. We ordered the meal for pickup at 6pm on Sunday but they don't really do the pickup process well. There was a huge lineup (about 20 people) waiting for their orders at various times and by the time I actually got it was 6:25pm so I waited about 25 mins in the restaurant which is definitely not ideal. Onto the food. It's actually pretty decent, both in taste and value. The lobster was actually really good, light in taste and cooked well, and there was a solid amount with 4lbs. The duck wrap was alright, I feel those are never exceptional or made poorly either. The sweet and sour pork was pretty good, good taste, good amount. The corn soup and vegetables were decent as well. Would have liked a little dessert component as usually when you dine in you get a tong shui at the end which is a nice way to end off the meal. There's a ton of places that do similar dishes around the area and I would argue this place doesn't do anything exceptional for me to order again or dine in when they open. Came here for dim sum during the weekend, we were a total of 4 people. Ordered 9 plates ranging from S, M, L dishes and fixed priced dishes as well. If you come during Monday - Friday and order before 11am dishes are around $4ish regardless if its S, M, L. They gave us a 10% discount if we paid in cash as their credit card system was down. Heard a few good things about this place like their salted egg yolk buns with eyes on it and the mango mochi on dry ice. The dim sum was alright, sui mai pieces were pretty big, portion for beef tripe were pretty generous, rice noodles tasted pretty good and the deep fried taro looked like swans (pretty cool). Mango mochi looks amazing, taste was not too sweet and it was definitely a highlight. They gave us the wrong tea but that was okay, staff were really friendly and welcoming. This was my second time coming and I'm glad they still stuck around as covid has been a bit tough for restaurants. They also have outdoor patio seating along with in room dining.
