Somewhat devoured, only because I was really hungry, picture of my plate. Sad crab rangoon and cold noodles at the top of the picture.

I'm dog sitting for a friend for Labor Day weekend and I was craving Chinese food I've tried a couple other places in the area and I always like to give a new place a whirl. Safe to say at least for this area I will be sticking to what I know. The prices are fine I can't speak to the staff because I ordered through Uber Eats but they were accommodating when I needed to add to my order. I'm not sure if the Ambiance either but from what I've seen it looks like it would be a good place to stop into at least. Definitely at least looks clean from what I've seen in others pictures. Let's get to the part that we're almost concerned about, the food. Honestly spend your money elsewhere in my opinion because half of my order was cold and it did not take long for delivery so there is that. They make the saddest excuse for crab rangoon that I have ever seen including the ones that you know are Frozen that you get as an appetizer at the sushi place. You all know what I'm talking about. I will post a picture. My order included a small shrimp fried rice, the supposed crab rangoon, vegetable lo mein and sweet and sour chicken. Also I ordered two egg rolls at the last minute that they were very accommodating about adding to my order. So again points for that! It's pretty sad to say though that those egg rolls were the best part of what I ordered. The noodles or lo mein needs to come with an allergy warning because it is most definitely made with some type of peanut sauce so please be aware of that if you're ever ordering a noodle dish from this location! The sweet and sour chicken is really nothing to write home about but it was still tasty and it was one of the few things that arrived hot. I also ordered egg drop soup which literally tasted like nothing . Less than nothing if that's possible. Looks like normal egg drop soup but tastes like absolutely nothing. So disappointing. Safe to say as a last resort... it's fine. Would I choose a different Chinese restaurant first, absolutely! You know me I'm always honest and I want you to spend your money wisely!

Just not my level of visual cleanliness and organization. Food was decent. I did carry-out. Service was fine.

Definitely a hidden Mundelein gem! The food is very flavorful and portions are generous- enough for leftovers in our family.

Good food. Not at all spicy when it should have been which is why I removed a star. I'd try it again for sure though.

New China Chef has all the usual stuff, from beef to tofu and whatever. Big portions help make things a good value for what you get. The prices aren't bad especially on lunch specials. Came in and placed an order to go. It's a pretty cramped place, but there's enough room for a few tables for those eating inside. The atmosphere is pretty lame. About the worst thing that can be said about it. There's two humongous menus on the walls. It's about $12 for the regular size entrees. They also have lunch specials. Has vegetarian choices. I got the Kung Pao Tofu. Good spice to it. The tofu was firm, and there was a good variety of vegetables including broccoli, corn, and more. For lunch it's pretty good. It's pretty fast to get most orders. There's a variety of proteins including tofu for vegetarians.

It's very hard to find good Chinese food in outside of the city. This is a smaller restaurant. Given it is a small restaurant I think customer service should be a little better. Greeting customers is important. I ordered the combination pan fried noodles, a small wonton soup, shrimp egg rolls and a Diet Coke. They forgot to give me my Diet Coke. I never check but something inside told me and I listened. I went back in. When I got home I got everything I ordered. Flavor wise everything was good. I have watched a lot of master chef mind you. I know about flavorrrr. In terms of the wonton soup I wish the wonton wrap was thinner. The soup and wontons themselves had good chicken broth flavor and I think inside the wontons was pork, very yummy. Shrimp egg rolls were good but I wish I was given sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce like when you go to any other Chinese place. I understand prices are crazy for inventory but giving soy sauce and sweet and sour should be formality and the brand new customer shouldn't be surprised when they get home. Charge an additional dollar per order to give that or something if cost is the problem. RED FLAG! Combination pan fried noodles was a good flavor also. The noodles resemble the crunchy ones in the bag just thinner and they give you more noodles. Yummy, maybe I'll try lo mein next time. I expect soy sauce and sweet & sour to be included plssss. THANK YOU FOR THE YUMMY SUBURB CHINESE FOOD!

FREAKING. DUMPLING. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, tender wrappers that somehow manage to be both delicate and sturdy. We them tried boiled shrimp, pork & green onion and WOW these things are next-level. I was making embarrassing noises with every bite. So. Freaking. Good. Like, life-changingly good. AND THEN the boba tea??? High-quality, real-deal, creamy, chewy pearls of joy... for FIVE DOLLARS.
