Best meal I've had in years. Ive frequently visited Zaza in Houston, but this place is so much better. My server Derek was informative without being intrusive, he helped guide me to the fantastic fish special and on point lamb appetizer. Every piece of the meal was perfect, it was reason enough to come back to Dallas again. Met with Scotty, a delightful member of their culinary team randomly as he was walking through the dining room. Not bad, just meh. Wrote a review but deleted it, because I was just making a short story long. The decor of the place is nice, but the atmosphere felt quite casual. I'm not sure they would want to hear that though, as it seems they try quite hard to be a high class eatery. Food was alright (quail, branzini, and deconstructed cheesecake for Restaurant Week) but lacked finesse. Drinks were forgettable. Came on a friend's recommendation and was blown away by the service and the food. Amazing experience and the food by Chef Andrew was brilliant. The balance of flavours and textures was very well done. We tried a veritable cornucopia of items from the menu - from cheeses to salads to meats to desserts - and were left impressed by it all. I threw at Birthday party at Hotel Zaza's dragonfly, and at first it was a bit confusing with my reservations. I called ahead a week or so before and spoke with the restaurants manager just letting them know i was coming,and wasn't interested in the Halloween party that night just my birthday. Although it was alot of confusion, because the could not find my name on the books at all at first the manager of the hotel came to our table apologized for the confusion. I have yet to try Dragonfly as a restaurant, but as a bar, it is absolutely terrible. Unless you like be crammed poolside with a bunch of 30K millionaires attempting to find the invisible waitstaff, this place is not worth checking out. The amount of silicon at this bar is laughable as well as the metrosexuals wearing their Prada shoes and smoking cigars as if they are too important to talk to anyone. The restaurant has good reviews from what I have seen, but the scene poolside and the red rope entrance is wanna be Hollywood. Dallas just isn't that cool and I chose to live here. read more

Stayed at Zaza for a girl's spa weekend. They gave us some coupons for drinks so we went around 6 on a Saturday evening to get some appetizers and cocktails. The bar was not that busy. Laura was our server and she was sour and aloof the entire time. Not once did she crack a smile nor check on us after delivering the cocktails or the appetizers. We had the ahi tacos which were okay--the shell was super stale and fell apart on the first bite. The dumplings were good and the sliders were awesome. Cooked medium rare, came with a tater tot, pickles and mustard. The cocktail menu had some creative martinis and they did not disappoint. Would I go out of my way to visit again? If you are staying at the Hotel Zaza in Dallas (as I was) then you will want to head down and check out the attached Dragonfly restaurant. Huge selection of wines and drinks to try and the late night scene is top-notch. On this occasion we did brunch and had a Lobster & Mushroom omelet and french toast. The omelet was excellent and the french toast was simply okay. Brunch isn't their big thing I guess. Go for the night scene and drinks, eat there if you are staying at the hotel and do not feel like leaving--you'll get a decent meal but nothing to blow your socks off. read more

I went to Dragonfly with a friend for lunch and ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp. The menu listed it under "Large Salads." There were 3 skimpy leaves of romaine lettuce and four shrimp ($15), and although it was tasty, I was still ravenous after I gobbled it up. This was NOT a large salad in my book. The Arnold Palmer was sour, and the server didn't come back to check in or offer to refill it. I left hungry, disappointed with the service, and had to pay the valet to boot! We stayed at hotel Zaza, so we decided to have breakfast here as it was right downstairs. The food was better than I thought. The yelp only gives a tyre and a half, but I give a five for breakfast. I was pretty let down by this place. We stopped in on a weeknight and sat at the bar for drinks and some dinner. The drinks are priced a little high, my usual scotch was $18 and it's $12-14 almost everywhere else in Dallas. The bartenders were friendly. As far as the food, the deviled eggs were pretty good. The scallops were a huge let down. There was a prune and some sherry in the dish, one of which had some sugar that burned and gave the entire dish a very bitter taste (above and beyond caramelization for color and flavor). For my main, I got the short ribs over grits and collards. I fully understand you're not cooking braised meats to order, but it wasn't quite re-heated all the way through. The grits and collards were very good, but they decided to sprinkle toasted squash seed o n the top of the entire plate. They hadn't been toasted enough and were just hard to eat - not very appetizing. The bartender seemed acutely aware of it and must've heard it before, so why don't they change the dish? Overall, I would give it a mediocre rating. However, for what you get it's on the expensive side. This seems like more of a drink place than a restaurant. read more

My husband, myself and some friends had brunch at Dragonfly for the first time on last Sunday. It's a cozy restaurant with a semi-casual setting. Our reservations were for 1:30 PM, the dining area crowd was pretty thin but the service was still a little slow. Three people in our party ordered the Chicken and Waffles entree. We were very disappointed with the presentation. The chicken had been de-boned and deep fried to a crispy texture. Needless to say, it was dry, crunchy and unappetizing. We stayed at Zaza and ate twice at dragonfly during our stay. Cocktails on Saturday evening with apps. Breakfast on Sunday. Nice wine list. Fun cocktail list. I had two glasses of a nice Pinot noir and my friend and I split a mule. Tasty tasty. The feta zip was zesty and not overpowering with crisp peppers. The calamari was good but I actually liked the jalapeños that came with a little better. The flat bread was odd in that it was cold and came with way too much lettuce and not enough olives. Breakfast was just perfect. I went with the basic egg and sausage and a fruit plate. It was just right. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. The coffee was spot on - crucial. I went here for a friends birthday. After dining at this place, all I did was complained... to my bf. Haha. The food is overpriced for one thing. The service was crap for a $50 dinner. It was like fine dining/casual hang out. I was confused. The food was confused as well. It didn't know what it wanted to be. I felt the clash makes me think it's an overpriced bad idea. The waiter was hard to tracked down because we were looking for her to order another dish. Also, it's a small restaurant. We just gave up. She didn't present us the special until I asked her. I come here a lot as a pre-party spot to have cocktails before heading out somewhere else. It's always a good time! There is a nice, upscale crowd that plays around here. The music is great; however, the drinks are costly. One time I ordered the Zaza cheeseburger and fries off of the bar menu, and it was good. Other than that one time, I only stick with their drinks. HOT!! Located in Hotel Zaza in Uptown Dallas, Dragonfly is definitely the sweetest place to be on a Saturday night. Came here for a post-wedding after party with bottle service, poolside. Had one of the best times ever. As we came up to the entrance, a brand new Ferrari rolled up to valet. All the girls knew how to dress and not a single one wore heels less than 4 inches. Helpful and professional bouncers in suits who guided us to our table, and they were very lenient on the 15 people/2 bottles rule, although we did end up getting another bottle and 4 more bottles of champagne. Great prices too, $275/liquor bottle and $50/bottle of champagne. Fantastic electro/house club music, super sexy & fun crowd, all together a winner. If you get tired, go inside Dragonfly for a fancy, richly decorated lobby and restaurant. Definitely coming here again. read more

Drank here after my buddy's wedding. The drinks here are pretty good. The ambiance is nice. It was quite crowded at the bar. It's definately some place you want to show up on those special occasions. I tried some of the truffle fries. They came in a miniature basket but were very tasty. They're very small and thin. Didn't get to try any of their entrees. We just enjoyed libation for dinner considering the occasion. The ambiance of this place is very nice. It's very well decorated and more on the kitschy vintagey side. With the ever more hanging ubiquitous edison bulbs and wire centerpiece in the middle. The music, as i remember, was especially loud. So be prepared to shout. If you're coming here on a Saturday night; it may be a good idea to make a reservation before hand. read more

I'm a huge fan of Hotel Zaza Houston and decided to visit the Dallas location, specifically the Dragonfly. Upon arrival we received less than stellar service which both embarrassed me and threatened to change my opinion of Zaza. However, after contacting the hotel by email and social media the issue was resolved in less than a week. Not only did I receive personal calls from management but I was assured this situation would never happen again. I applaud Zaza for going out of their way and recognizing and valuing the loyalty of their customers. Because of this I will remain a fan of this hotel and will continue to love and visit the Houston location regularly. read more

Great drinks with a big roomy bar. The food isn't the best but the pool party is cool. The vibe is awesome. I give it one star due to my disappointment with not getting to go again this year. Lol. YUM! Fish taco and sushi meet! YUM! Crispy, crunchy wonton shaped as a taco filled with tuna... YUM! and their deconstructed sushi? DELICIOUS! Didnt give it a 5 star, because their beef with mashed potatoes were over priced, and over cooked - flavorful and overcooked, not a good pairing following the 2 AWESOME appetizers we had! Dragonfly is hip, chic, and exclusive!! Inside the Zaza complete with doormen, guest list of the Who's Who in town and velvet ropes. Outside on the patio is the younger, hipper vibe with an outside bar and smoking. Inside is a mix of four tops, high tops, booths, and a large long bar for socializing! I saw one private dining/wine room/chefs room!! There really wasn't cocktail service when I was there probably because It was game day weekend and it was full!! Bars were 2 deep all night long. Dress code in effect and I would imagine if you're not a hotel guest, on the list or know somebody you're not getting in this place! Cool thing happened out of nowhere.. Young lady/ hostess is walking through the crowd with a silver bowl full of lighted rings for the ladies!! Yes sir, this place is just that classy!! read more

This is a two part review. Part 1 - The Restaurant Convenient place to dine with minimal crowds before seeing a show at the Winspear. I've enjoyed the tuna taco appetizer on multiple occasions. The Comida entree is basically the special of the night. The first time I had it, it consisted of meatloaf with blue cheese grits and collard greens. Good plate of fine comfort food. On my recent visit, the Comida offering didn't appeal to me, so I went with the Three Little Pigs entree. Bonus points for turning a childhood story into a plate of food. Piggy 1 was represented by their Dr. Pepper BBQ ribs. Piggy 2 was represented by pork brisket meatloaf. Piggy 3 was represented by bacon & eggs (not a strip, but a square of the pork belly variety). The ribs were the highlight of the plate, followed by the bacon & eggs. In regards to sides, the Guyere mac & cheese wins over the truffled Manchego tater tots. Overall, a decent meal but a bit overpriced for what you are getting. Nothing that necessarily blew me away. Part 2 - The Late Night Bar (Inside and Outdoor Bar) I'm not sure if this should be posted under Hotel Zaza or Dragonfly. Not much to say. Take any typical Dallas Uptown scene, put it next to a pool, add a bar, DJ and some pretty waitresses and you'll have Dragonfly/Hotel Zaza. read more

Dragonfly - Three Little Pigs - New American Near Me - Dallas, Texas

If I were being completely honest, there were two reasons why I decided to go to make reservations at Dragonfly: they were offering 1000 Opentable points and their steak options were reasonably priced. I was worried that there may be a reason why Dragonfly was offering such a promotion but fret not, fellow Yelpers: Dragonfly's food is deeeelicious! We came here on a random weekday night (I think maybe right after Christmas) so the place was pretty empty, save for 3-4 tables. Wine aficionados, they have a pretty varied wine list but not as many options as I would've liked. They had a seasonal soup, the lobster bisque, so my friend and I both decided to give it a whirl. This was much spicier than I thought it would be but I enjoyed the generous piece of fried lobster floating around in my bisque. Yums. Then came the steaks. I got the 5 oz tenderloin filet (only $22!) and shared the gruyere mac and cheese and crispy brussel sprouts with my friend. I thought their these three things went sooo well together. Their steaks come with sauces on the side and I decided to give both the shiitake mushroom demi and the charred tomato cabernet jus a whirl. I liked the shiitake one better but mostly because I tend to err on the side of sweet. Finally, we ended with their hazelnut mocha creme brulee. It pains me to say this but it just wasn't my favorite. I thougth I would love it because I love "hazelnut," "mocha," and "creme brulee" separately but some things may be better not mixed together. I'm glad Opentable was offering 1,000 points to dine here because otherwise, I never would've discovered this reasonably priced, delicious, and trendy restaurant in Uptown Dallas. read more

Another swanky cool-vibe lounge in Uptown where it gives you the perfect excuse to dress up in your best high heels and the shortest dresses. The "real" party scene is at the pool where the DJ plays. I've always been scared to walk near the pool in my heels with a drink in my hand, if I were tipsy, that can get kinda iffy. It's pretty much where most of the young high-rollers would hang around. I feel that if there is a reality TV show about the the lives of young Dallas-ites, this would be one of the most fitting spot to shoot a scene. read more

During our trip to Dallas we actually visited Hotel Zaza twice! I love the design of the place - it's like a steampunk boutique hotel. Very cool. Dragonfly served us an incredible dinner - I think the thing that stood out to me the most was the Brussel sprouts. Yum!! On a Friday night for dinner the place was pretty quiet, didn't need a reservation. However, we returned for drinks Saturday night after dinner and found that the place had transformed to a hot night spot. So much fun!! They had a tarot card reader in the hallway and the service was great considering how crazy it was. Definitely recommend it! read more

I'm a big fan of Hotel ZaZa and a regular at both the Dallas and Houston locations.. I was a little surprised by the mixed reviews on Dragonfly. I've had nothing but great experiences here. It's such a fun atmosphere, great for people watching.. if you can make it for an event you'll have a great time. Last time I was there they were having a Men's Health event and it turned out to be a great evening. The waitstaff always takes good care of us, the bartenders pour 'em like we like... and the food is solid. We decided to split one of the pizzas (definitely improved.. thin crust, crisp and delish!), the hummus (only thing I wasn't super sold on.. it was just okay), and the citrus poached chilled rock shrimp (love the dipping sauces they come with). But the real winner.. the thing you have to order is the ginger glazed beef tenderloin. That's definitely the best entree on the menu.. full of a flavor and super tender. But if you're more of a fish person, I've also had the Bay of Fundy Salmon which is divine.. the potato pancetta hash and olive tapenade it comes with really make the dish. The only thing I never seem to have room for at Dragonfly is dessert, so I can't comment.. but perhaps I'll have to take a break on the cocktails next time so I can try some! read more

Ran into a friend at the airport who recommended this spot for drinks - so I met a local friend while traveling for work. This is a good spot for drinks and small plates. The hotel is very nice (did not stay here) but I talked with several guests with positive comments on the rooms and the property. Good selection of spirits (thank you for stocking Hangar One) and very attentive bartenders. I had the beef coins (wrapped in pancetta) and the Scallops with crimini mushrooms and noodles. The food was fine. Call me old fashioned, but I want to feel a WOW about a $32 entree. Not quite. The scallops were well prepared and seasoned, on a bed of noodles and four mushrooms. OK... Fun bar crowd, though. I would return for drinks and small plates. read more

Dragonfly. Think of something really hot as I write this review. This is one of the A list hot spots in Dallas. I have been to Dragonfly several times and have enjoyed the Chic atmosphere and modern decor, and master bartenders, but most recently I picked this place for a memorable first date and... I have to say, I couldn't have been more satisfied with the experience. Exceeded my expectations and the staff lived up to the Zaza "loveya" way, which pretty much just means you will be a Celebrity for the night. We ordered the Ginger-Glazed Beef Tenderloin and let me tell you, I will never forget the way that meat melted in my mouth with the tangy flavor, nor the reaction of my date as she tried hers. For drinks we ordered two "wake up calls" and they were delivered in a timely manner and were delish. My date was just thoroughly impressed with our date in Dallas, and peeps, Dragonfly was the cherry on top. In this case, I saved the best for last, and Dragonfly came through in a BIG way. It's more than just a "see and be seen" here. This place delivers with their service, food quality and overall ambiance. The "celebrity feel" is just a perk.
