Lovely service from the waitress. She was very sweet and hospitable. This location is ideal for 2 people. There's only one large table in the center of the restaurant. We ordered the fried rice and added chicken. We also got the pad see ew and added beef. Both dishes were flavorful and delicious. The only disappointment were the crab ragoons. I'm used to a thicker cream cheese taste with the bits of crab and these had more of a liquid-ish cheese with bell peppers. In all fairness, I personally do not like bell peppers. The ragoons do not deter me from returning. I would definitely come back. read more

Cute little spot I've been wanting to try. Located in a shopping complex with plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Shout out to Conner. Service was very quick. I enjoyed the Thai Kung Pao, lots of veggies. I ordered it with chicken and white rice. The Chili and Sweet Tai Basil was basil-ing in the best way. Dragonfly Thai was such a pleasant surprise! My friend and I were right across the street at nearby Promenade and the Palos Verdes Street Fair and Music Festival when we decided to check out Dragonfly Thai. The restaurant is small, cute and classy. There is a long wooden table bench for large parties in the middle. There are high tables and stools on the right side and there are smaller tables with cozy fabric chairs the left. They also have outdoor seating. I knew this restaurant had lunch specials but I didn't expect that they would have $9.99 lunch specials! Considering the location of this restaurant; I was totally expecting their lunch specials would be at a higher price point. The $9.99 was definitely a wonderful deal! Their $9.99 lunch specials are served daily from 11am to 2:30pm and comes with rice (choice of brown or white rice), salad and two crispy wontons. One can also add a fountain drink for $1.00. Choices for the lunch entrees are chicken, beef, vegetable or tofu. There are 12 different lunches specials to choose from and include Thai favorites like Pad Thai, Chili and Sweet Thai Basil and Curry dishes. I chose to get their Dragonfly Fried Rice with beef and my friend got their Yellow Curry with chicken. The Dragonfly Fried Rice had eggs, cucumber, onions and green onions. I thought the fried rice was very flavorful. Their portion size is not the largest but this dish still got me pretty full and content. I also got to try a little bit of my friend's Yellow Curry with chicken and thought this was also a great dish. The yellow curry was rich and savory. It was perfect over white rice. Last but not least I wanted to do a special mention for the complimentary fried wontons that came with the lunch specials! I loved these crispy wontons. They were filled with a yellow curry sweet potato. These were so good and such a nice add to the lunch special. I was definitely impressed with lunch here and if ever I am in the area; I would love to visit again! Location is great considering it is right across from the Promenade and it is in hustling and bustling shopping plaza with lots of shopping stores like Target, Five Below & Old Navy. I should have written this review much sooner since for years we have been coming to Dragonfly for quick meals. Located at eastern corner of the Peninsula Center, it has seating for around 20 people when including the huge table in the middle of the restaurant, which can seat multiple parties during busy hours. It is not really a place to take your blind date but the food is good and the price is quite reasonable. My favorite dish is mushroom ginger chicken. The sauce is light but tasty with hint of ginger. The dish has enough vegetables (baby corn, celery, mushroom and carrot) to satisfy your daily fiber intake. The chicken is on the lean side but not overly hard. Another must try dish is their Pad Thai with its sauteed noodle, vegetable and your favorite protein. Service is pretty good but the tables need to be cleaned more often since they sometimes feel a little bit sticky. But no big deal. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant was pleasant which I appreciate, it is a good place to relax. As for the food, I ordered the satay and two pad thai noodles. In my personal opinion, the pad thai tasted okay. I am not much of a critique on food so I wouldn't have much to say other than the fact that the pad thai was very flavorful which I liked, but it wasn't my favorite. I ordered the milk tea and I didn't enjoy it as much but perhaps it could be because I ordered it with coconut milk and it is my first time trying it. I rated this restaurant a three because while the food exceeded in terms of chewy texture and flavorful, I wasn't a fan of the sauce because it had little to no umami flavor. We probably order from Dragonfly Thai once a month. My husband enjoys the Pad Thai and I usually get the green curry with chicken. The Crab cream cheese wantons are decent as well. You can now order online which is nice. This last time I tried Pineapple curry and it was a little bit spicier than the green but had no pineapple in it, which was confusing. The good: I tried the crab Rangoon, golden pillows, pineapple fried rice, drunken noodles, some meat stir fry (I cannot recall the name). There are some outside tables as well as inside tables for dining in. The bad: The pineapple fried rice was subpar to any pineapple fried rice I've had before. It didn't have a nice wok flavor. The drunken noodles also seemed to lack authentic flavor. The stir fry was also just ok. The golden pillows were underwhelming and small. Both the Rangoons and pillows had the same wonton wrapper but shaped differently. The flavors all couldn't have been intensified. It lacked Thai basil, fish sauce, and other authentic flavors found in the typically flavorful Thai food. The interesting: The place seems to be more of a takeout place but the interior did fill up when I came for a sit-down dinner. You order at the counter ahead. The table in the middle is a larger communal table. It's the only table that'll seat 4+ people. read more

I have LOVED Dragonfly Thai for many years and keep forgetting to write a review. My favorite items are Tom Yum Goong soup and Golden Pillow. This particular soup is so very flavorful accompanied by the Golden Pillow. I sit and savor the flavors that put me back to visits to Pacific Rim countries. I have tried the other food items, too. You can never go wrong with any choice. Excellent flavors. Very good service and cute seating area, especially when you go in off hours. read more

Solid 4-stars. They have a very good and diverse menu. I found the Pad See Ew to be flavorful and I also enjoyed the Massaman Curry. Steamed dumplings were good and i would suggest that any steamed foods are for dine in as things tend to sweat in transit via DoorDash or Pickup. - Great portions - Really good price value (like super good) - Easily accessible and lots of parking in Promenade Shops area close to Target and Ulta. - Very friendly staff - Very fast service on takeaway orders I walked in to order and warned food was prepped and packed and ready in 12-15 mins. I had Dragonfly deliver a few times to my place. Compared to many other lackluster Thai places in the South Bay, I was impressed with the quality of and tastiness of their dishes. The prices were very reasonable, too. One day I was driving by and stopped at the store. I was shocked to see that it was more of a glorified takeout place than a more established, regular restaurant (okay, they did have tables). It's a clean, efficient, and modern place--all to my liking. The verdict is that I've ordered food from Dragonfly at least 7 times in the last few months and have never been disappointed. We came by on a Friday night to try to get a quick dinner but they were very understaffed this night. One girl was in charge of the cashier, serving and busing all the tables inside and outside. She was trying her best and doing the best that she could but it was honestly too much work for one person. They had a lot of people in the back of the kitchen however the food still took a good 30-40 min to get to us. I ended up getting the Yellow Chicken Curry. It was pretty good - it was very creamy and rich with spices. It's nothing super special but definitely has all the qualities that you would expect in a curry. I would definitely consider coming back another time when they have their operational issues sorted out. read more

The oi sole fried rice is soluço see tô come chicken and shrimp, it has 2 shrimp only, mostly rice and pineapple. And the PadThai was the worst PadThai I've ever had. I almost didn't eat it. I didn't even take a picture of the PadThai was not "pleasant" enough for a photo. The pineapple fried rice was almost the only eatable thing but still not great. Seating is limited but they have a large table in the middle dominating the place kind of like a common seating table you'd find at starbucks or the library. It wasn't busy so we just sat there since all other tables are for 2 people (we had 3 people). I'd say this place is better to dine in for only 1 or 2 people. Seems to cater more towards takeout orders. Anyways... the menu had the common thai fare. There were symbols dictating their recommendations so we just went with 2 of those. Green Curry (4): Good flavor profile. Nice mix of veggies. I got chicken and it was as expected. Everything relied on the flavor of the curry but the curry was good. Pineapple Fried Rice (4): The overall combination of nuts and everything was good. The kids I was with kinda picked their least favorite things out. I liked it though. The 2 pieces of shrimp that it came with were large and tasty. Overall a solid dish. Cashier and server were friendly. Dishes came out super fast and hot. Both were good. It's the local Thai. Is it "authentic "... nope. Is it good... yup. They have lunch specials with the usual suspects. The fried won ton are usually a bit soggy. The salad dressing is a bit too sweet. But I'm splitting hairs. It's close, convenient and quite ok. This is the typical strip mall restaurant, and nothing wrong with that. We come regularly Service can vary, I've had some long waits ...and some very short ones. Can't really determine why. Food: is competent, though not spectacular or fancy. It gets the job done if you have a Thai craving and don't want to leave PV. Service: is nice overall. They are a friendly staff. Ambiance: is decent and clean, but not upscale. One issue I have is that they start their cleaning about 20 minutes before closing time and you can smell all of the cleaning products if you are still eating your meal inside. I don't usually write reviews but after reading some of the reviews for the Dragonfly, I feel that I should offer my input and observation. For those in the know, this is the go to place to get authentic Thai cuisine. Some Thai chefs come here to eat the food themselves from time to time. That says a lot when other Thai chefs come to dine in your store. Let me tell you the chefs in the back are Thai and are well known in the Thai culinary circle. IMHO it's hard to find a place that gives better value for your dollar in this inflationary environment. I've tried quite a number of their dishes and they are all good, if not great. Not only that, they don't use MSG or other questionable additives to enhance the flavor. You can come here and eat 5x a week and it's just as healthy, if not more, than if you were to cook yourself at home. It's nourishing enough that I know some dog owners come and order some of the meat dishes for their dog. The food is fresh and the main chef is anal in the preparation and the quality of the food. The crab fried rice, for an example, uses real crab and not imitation like a lot of other asian restaurants do. The taramind fish, though a little bit more costly, uses general portion of tempura battered fresh white fish sauteed with natural spice and vegetables. Anyways, if you are ever in the area, stop by and try some authentic Thai at an almost steal for the quality of the ingredients and the culinary skill of the chefs. They've recently improved their Boba tea as well. The Boba drink imho is again a much better value than other shops that only specialize in boba. Aroy! read more

We ordered Crab Rangoons, my fiancé's favorite, and were quite surprised to find tuna inside rather than crab. It was just like tuna salad! Kinda gross. Also the staff was sharp and pushy with us. We also ordered a yellow curry which had a good flavor, though it was a little too watery and thin. Overall, I was not impressed and probably won't return. The restaurant can modify almost any dish to be vegan, and we enjoyed the flavorful eggplant dish, corn and mushroom dish, fried rice, and vegetable and tofu soup.
