So when I called, Bonnie answered, she was so pleasant on the phone, I knew I got a good one. It's a Friday, people are busy, but she was able to squeeze us in for the afternoon even last minute. Then John shows up to check the situation, was up front and honest with us. And the most economical way to fix the situation. Basically we only paid for the service call which was not much, and my husband will fix it himself. Plus John also referred a reliable contractor to remodel our home as well. So when we are ready to redo our whole house repiped, Drain Away will be the ones to call. Honest, reliable.

What I got was a pleasant and straightforward replacement experience and at a pretty fair price. I phoned the company around 10 this morning. Left a message with a young lady and had a call back within an hour. Aaron told me he would be to the house sometime after 1pm. TODAY! Aaron showed up almost exactly at 1pm! Score! He took a look at our 30 year old hose bib and gave me several options. We could try to fix it ourselves, he could try to fix it, or he could replace it. The cost difference for him to repair vs replace was not much (in the grand scheme of things) and after a quick phone call to the hubby, we decided to be done with it and not worry about it again for 15-20 years. Aaron had all of the necessary tools and parts in his truck (which was clean, newish, and well-maintained) and had the job done in about an hour. The job required a small square of drywall be removed for access and he was very careful not to make a mess. In fact, I don't think there was any dust left at all! He repacked the space with the insulation also, which was very kind. I was able to pay with a credit card (I think they will also take a check) and received a detailed invoice for future reference. He told me a job like this they would guarantee for 5 years, which sounds reasonable to me. I really can't thank Aaron and Drain Away enough. They are spot on, top notch. I would definitely call them again if need be, without hesitation.

Aqualine Plumbing didn't even do the most basic parts of their job: showing up for their appointments, communicating with the customer, following up, ordering parts, nor scheduling the actual repair work. Total failure in every way. They failed to show up for the first appointment on 7/26/2024 scheduled between 12-2pm and I had to call them several times to find out if and when they would be arriving as it got closer to 2pm and beyond saying they would be there. When I made my last call I made to the around 4pm they that their service tech was still on his first call of the day and they wouldn't be coming. The office rescheduled for 7/27 and told me I would be their first call of the day and the tech would arrive between 9-9:30am. I informed them I had plans later and had to leave by 11am. I was texting the tech in the morning when he said he was on the way and reiterated that I needed to leave by 11am. Their tech showed up at 11:15am and I had to alter my plans. When the tech arrived I asked if I was his first appointment of the day and he confirmed that was true. Given that I had communicated my schedule with the office and with him, I asked why he was so late. Basically, he had no valid excuse and clearly decided to sleep in and show up whenever he wanted. I had six plumbing issues. They fixed one (reseated the toilet)and took pictures of everything else to order parts and schedule the next repairs. I didn't hear back from Aqualine and had to call them to try and determine when they would be scheduling their visit for the repairs. I called four separate times and each time they said they would get back to me but never did. They also said that they showed the repairs were completed in their system, which is as not true. I explained we were waiting on parts and still needed to schedule the repair appointment. I spoke to their office manager, yet again, on 9/5 who said the manager would be contacting me on 9/6 or 9/9 at the latest. No one ever called me back. I called spoke to Aqualine again on 9/16 and the office manager said the Manager would contact me but never did. It's now been almost 2 months and my repairs still are NOT completed. I had to contact American Home Shield to have another plumber assigned. The new contractor got me scheduled right away and said they strive to complete all repairs the same day with limited exceptions. That's what anyone would want or expect from a plumbing contractor when they are having plumbing issues. Aqualine can't even do the most basic things any company should do. Don't use this company unless you want to be frustrated, waste your time and still have plumbing issues that never get fixed. They don't have their act together.

Finally on 4/29/25 I received an email from Ryan stating as of 4/4/25 they no longer do electrical and they could no longer help us. So now we are having to have the work done by a different company. For Pacific Trenchless aka Budget Sewer Inc. - Another plumbing company came out to address a…read morebackup in our basement sink but ran into trouble getting the snake through due to roots and debris. After running a camera, they identified a serious blockage. To clear it, they said it would require cutting a hole in the deck, digging down 9 feet over an 8-foot stretch, and quoted $12,500 just to clear the blockage. If the pipe was in bad condition, they recommended installing a sleeve--if salvageable--or potentially replacing the pipe entirely, which would cost significantly more. I decided to get four bids, and they varied widely, ranging from a few thousand to over $22,000. These estimates included clearing the blockage and, in some cases, adding a sleeve. Budget Sewer gave a fair initial quote that didn't include the sleeve, but once they opened things up, it was clear the sleeve was necessary. I ended up paying just over $14,600, and I believe it was a fair price for the work done. They started at 7:45 a.m. on a Tuesday and finished by 10 a.m. Thursday. They did an excellent job removing and reinstalling the deck--something none of the other bids included--and left the area clean and looking just as it did before they started. I would absolutely recommend Aiden and his team. They were punctual, hardworking, and very professional throughout the entire process.

Multiple friends and neighbors have had to have their side sewers repaired and time and time I've been regaled with horror stories; bills well into five figures, escalating prices once the job is underway, broken concrete walkways, yards destroyed. I see further evidence of that walking around the neighborhood. However-- These guys obviously know what they are doing. The sod was neatly removed--and stacked--from where they dug the hole in my front lawn now the job has been completed you can barely tell the lawn was disturbed because they knew how to put it back in order. To access the cast iron exiting the house everyone (including Aiden when we walked the job) wanted to break through the walkway and patch. However once the crew started work they were able to excavate next to and then under the walkway, prop it up from underneath and did their work so you can't tell anything happened. At the end of each day they left the job site nicely organized--and as clean as holes in the ground can be. No shiny new trucks, no advertising, and not a plumbing company. These guys aren't flashy but are experts in their field.
