We had Drain City Plumbing come out to install a pre-purchased toilet for us yesterday, 10-21-2023. The appointment was set up one day prior, when my husband called & spoke to Tony over the phone. Ritchie and an apprentice(?) Tech came to do the work .. They arrived a few minutes late, and (unfortunately) they came unprepared. When removing the existing toilet, they needed to borrow our shop-vac, because they hadn't brought one of their own. Ritchie was personable & conversed with my husband & mainly watched, as the other man performed most of the physical work. My husband asked that they remove the existing calking from the floor before placing the new toilet (it seemed that they hadn't planned to) - they did not have a scraper, and borrowed a knife to smooth/prepare the area. After 40 minutes, the duo left to go purchase calking to set the new toilet (another thing they should've had with them, knowing the job they were coming to do). We waited, and waited . . although Ritchie had my husband's phone number, he never called to say they were delayed - my husband eventually called Tony at their office, to check on the status of his plumbing team. Ritchie & the unnamed apprentice returned OVER TWO HOURS LATER. Excuses were given (their van needed gas, and had low tire[s] that needed air), but we believe they stopped working to have lunch, without notifying us (there were food containers on the truck's dashboard when they returned) - it would have been fine for them to stop for lunch, of course, had Ritchie simply called to let us know. We had been keeping everyone out of the bathroom, expecting the men to return soon; there were family members who wanted to take a shower. After finally returning to our house, the men adequately finished the job, in 25 minutes. 3.5 hours .. for an hour & ten minutes of work. We do not recommend Drain City Plumbing. read more

Richie is the plumber we worked with. When we met him, he seemed friendly, charismatic, and competent. The quote he gave for all of the work we needed to get done was lower than what we'd seen elsewhere and were were eager to work with him. They were late every single time they came. They made us pay upfront, before the work was started. They did some maintenance on the water heater, and then it wouldn't turn on any more. They had to come back to get it working. Richie said there was a part missing that we'd have to order, but it was literally sitting next to him on the ground. Working now. They added lines for us to install a laundry room sink. Instead of putting tubes through the existing holes in the studs, they cut huge notches through the wood. On one, they left less than an inch to support the wall. We had to have those reinforced by another contractor. Richie just shrugged and said "ah, my guys..." and nothing else when we asked about it. The placement of the drain doesn't work with the sink we got, even though the sink we'd gotten was on site. Don't think they ever even looked at it. They also left the job unfinished. We had to hire another plumber to finish the water lines so we could use them. They were supposed to fix a leak in the laundry room and replace the old drain. Richie said this wasnt part of the job, though it was written on the estimate paperwork in his own handwriting. They did not do either, though they replaced a different part of the plumbing. The hot water tap still leaks when turned on. They replaced the angle stops for the sinks. Took out all the plumbing to the sinks and left us without a single working faucet in the house. Do have working angle stops, but needed to do a bunch of work to get the sinks working again. Replaced angle stops for the toilets. Put a faucet connection on one, so it was the wrong size for the toilet. Richie said it wasn't a faucet connection, even though they'd forgotten to take the label off the tube that clearly said it was for a faucet. Left a big pit in the wall where they re-replaced the part. They were supposed to install new toilets, but mid-job said they'd need DOUBLE the original estimate to do that. We hired a different plumber for that. Pro- Richie seems like a nice dude. Would probably be fun to get a beer with. Would not hire him as a plumber again. read more

I contacted Tony at Drain City about a water leak. Someone came to check it out right away. The plumbing in my home was very old and many problems were discovered. Tony evaluated the problems and gave me a reasonable price for the work needed. The work was done in a timely manner and the plumbers were efficient and responsible. A few days after the work was complete, I discovered a problem I thought might be a result of the work done under the house. I contacted Tony and he was very willing to come by and troubleshoot and fix the problem. He also did some extra work on a sprinkler issue. He did not charge me for the visit. I am highly disappointed when my shower was clogged and I couldn't unclog it. So I called a plumber that wasn't drain city and found out they never really fixed my drain but gerryrigged it. The plumber found and took pics of the 3 p traps for the shower and they used the wrong pvc glue. After this plumber corrected the problem I received an invoice and a warranty for the plumbing, something Tony never gave me for spending 10000 dollars worth of work. Juan the plumber came out, with zero customer service. Nonetheless, he told me before the job was started that he will snake my clogged kitchen sink drain and if he couldn't fix it, I would not have to pay. Well, I paid before he left with a mediocre work. He said that the plumbing pipe had to be changed, bigger issue than snaking it. So when I called him one hour after the job was not done correctly, he sent two young guys out to look under my sink and tell me what I already knew. They didn't even try to unclog or anything. What a waste of time. I reached out to Juan and asked him to refund my money as the job was not fixed! I was contacted by Drain City Plumbing after I made a request through Fixr for a plumber to come look at my running toilet. They scheduled me for an appointment later that day for a FREE estimate. When the plumber arrived, he fiddled with the mechanism in the toilet and appeared to fix the problem. I suspected that the problem was more involved than what he did, but as he was "the professional," I trusted him. He then asked for the service fee of $60. Since I thought he had fixed it, even though he was supposed to supply a FREE estimate, I agreed. He asked me how I would pay for it. When I told him by credit card, he offered me a $20 discount ($40 charge) if I paid him with cash to avoid the credit card fees. I agreed, and even gave him $50 to split the difference. A few hours later, the toilet was running again. He had not fixed it. I called to schedule a return visit, and I was scheduled for two days later between 10 and 11 am. The plumber did not show up. I called again to find out what happened, and was informed that I was not on the schedule for that day(?). We rescheduled again for two days later. Again, no one showed up or called. At this point I have cut my losses, and will have to chalk it up to experience. Drain City Plumbing got me for 50 bucks. Learn from my mistake. read more

We called Drain City to come out for a leak at my dads house (89yo). After assessing the leak, they decided they needed to go under the house. So after going under the house, they told me it was one of two major issues under the house. They told me they would need to figure out all the parts and send me the quote. They even referenced possibly needing a new tub. I did not feel good about the visit. I found a second plumber on Yelp with good reviews- GD Plumbing and Richard Gray came out and in 10 minutes identified the leak, which was not under the house. He went and picked up the part and was done in about an hour (from assessment to paperwork). The bill, $190. Take away- Research who you use for repairs. read more

Recently we hire them installed garbage disposal and water valves for the new washing machine. Only later to remember that our other toilet is backing up. They used latest camera technology to find out that sewer line has shifted and has root grown in it. And the clean out was later discovered underneath the concrete walkway. We had to a clogged pipe at a 45° angle one and we are cells try to clear the line and was not able to they came in with all kinds of equipment and it just couldn't be done. They had to cut it replace it that was wonderful then about doing this job realized that we had another pipe that was leaking it was one of the main line to the sewer so this turned out to be a major job. Though the gentleman showed up on time they cleaned up after theirselves they made sure to protect my home as best they could being that was pouring rain though to get us back with water and get everything working they work through the rain which I commend them for. We had another company come out and they wouldn't work in the rain and therefore we would have been without water for a while. The gentleman were very professional very polite. I recommend them. The drains and sewer pipe under the house needed replacing, but the crawlspace was too shallow to access. Other plumbers said they needed to access the pipes from inside the house by cutting into the floors. I called Drain City and Tony came out the next morning. He immediately said they would dig their way through the dirt under the house, access and do all the repairs from underneath without even needing to go inside the house.
