I was replacing my kitchen faucet on a Saturday afternoon and after installing I noticed that the nut that connects the basket trap to the drain was cracked and leaking. I brought the part to H Depot and no one was able to assist. Called to fix a dripping galvanized connection in the basement. It's an old building, nothing is easy, but even dayam! Pat estimated $1,500. I suddenly remembered the crappy job they did when my mom was dying in March 2019--I called Drain-eez to fix a short list of issues at my dad's building. They spent some hours and charged thousands. It was too much but I trusted them to get it right -- nope, several faucets still drip and he caulked a modern knob on the hot water spigot for the tub (looked like crap and fell off, yippee!). I called at 8:30pm on a Monday night because my dishwasher was leaking even while not running, which had begun to flood the ceiling of the floor below it, and I couldn't figure out how to stop it. Pat picked up my call right away even though I was not a previous or existing customer, listened patiently to my description of the issue, asked me to text him a picture of where the leak was coming from, and then helped me get it stopped just by talking me through it over the phone without needing to come on site. He is friendly and obviously very knowledgeable, giving us advice about next steps and other professionals to do non-plumbing work we needed. He got the job done quickly and RIGHT! Update: We tore down the drywall in the basement and found a sewage pipe leading to *nowhere* just dumping sewage in the ground... which explained the smell we have been HAUNTED with forever. Pat at Drain-EEZ is an awesome plumber and human being. We had a kitchen faucet that wouldn't rotate and was totally stuck. We reached out to several plumbers to obtain quotes. The other plumbers said that the faucet needed to be replaced for a several hundred dollar install!! On the other hand, Pat very generously offered a suggestion for us to try before resorting to a new installation. His suggestion WORKED in 5 minutes and fixed our problem! Unfortunately I cannot recommend Drain-EEZ. I called them to investigate a spigot which froze over the winter. They looked at it and informed me that because there was no shutoff valve nearby, the water in all the pipes in our 3 story condo building would spill when they cut the pipe to do the repair. They also quoted us "around $850" and suggested we instead pursue other options. We called a different plumber and they completed the repair without any noticeable water spillage. We asked how they did that, and they stated they were able to locate a shutoff valve in the next room over. And they said that even if that wasn't there, they could have drained the building via a sink in the basement to prevent the vast majority of water from spilling. And their charge for this service? $170. I'm not thrilled that I paid a $65 consultation fee to receive a crazy quote for a repair they clearly weren't comfortable doing. read more

I had a leak in my toilet. First guy I called said I should probably replace all the parts inside the tank, because it looked like the previous owner had dropped a freshening pellet in the water and the chemical had eaten at the parts and seals. He could do that for $375, or just replace the one leaking seal for $225. I called Pat. He took one look at the same picture and diagnosed the problem. When I asked him for an estimate, he said, "Oh, you should just do that yourself, because I'd hate to charge you for something that easy." He then spent another five minutes walking me through it and telling me what to buy at Home Depot. Other than the time, I doubt it'll cost $25 to fix. I had a serious clog in my bathroom which was preventing my bathtub from draining at all. I had previously hired another plumbing company which was unable to resolve the problem. When I called Drain-EEZ, I had some questions about the service and the secretary transferred me to Pat, who was very helpful in answering my questions. He expressed a high level of confidence that he would be able to clear the clog. When he was unsuccessful in making it past the clog through the tub, he took the sink apart and was eventually able to break through. The first plumbing company gave up after they were not able to go through the tub. Pat was also helpful in addressing my questions and general concerns. I scheduled to have Drain-EEZ come out and resolve an issue with a clog in the basement sink and possibly my sub-pump. The owner of this company was accommodating of my schedule and called when he was on his way to my home. As soon as he looked at and 'examined' my sub-pump he instructed me that I needed a NEW one. He and his assistant then started working on the clog and spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to unclog the basement sink. Since they could not fix it via the basement sink, this necessitated having to cut a section of my pipe so he could run a line that way. Another 20 minutes later and he informed me that he could not resolve the issue and I would have to get someone to TEAR UP THE FLOOR since the pipe was so badly clogged or broken! After hearing this and having a conversation w/my realtor, I decided to get another opinion. I did this because tearing up the floor would have meant $1500 to 3000 dollars. I was also very upset thinking I would have to tear up a floor for a house that was going to be sold. I am so very glad my neighbor recommended another plumber (I will be writing a great review for them). It took a week for this new plumber to fit me into his schedule, but it took him 20 minutes to UNCLOG the drain. He also told me there was NOTHING wrong with my sub-pump. It's interesting that Drain-EEZ has these great reviews on Yelp, it is the only reason I contacted them. I will say the guy was willing to assist me in getting good estimates for tearing up my floor, but these estimates would have been for work I DID NOT NEED. His price was also double what this other company charged when nothing was resolved. Obviously he has done good work for others, but I could never recommend this plumber to anyone! read more

Usually Yelp doesn't steer me wrong but I guess my luck has finally ran out. I really didn't get anywhere near five star service and value from this plumber's visit. I had an issue with my bathtub being backed up. First they told me they would be at my place after 1pm and then they came 2 hours earlier. Normally thats fine but there was no warning they just showed up at the door unexpectedly. No call or anything. They proceeded to use a rooter to unclog the plumbing. They arrived at 11:10AM and left by 11:35AM, total time=25 minutes. Now how much would a good plumber charge for something that involved a total of 25 minutes of labor? $100? Maybe $150? How about $255! Yes he wanted over 500 dollars an hour to stick a rooter down a drain. No materials mind you, just labor. Of course I brought that up with him and he gave me the "that's what we charge" line. "What would you like to pay?" I replied $150 and he actually barked back "Hell no! I'm not coming out on a Saturday for $150!" Of course he never mentioned that his rates go up for supposedly coming out on a Saturday until that point. So after a little terse back and forth he let me go with $200. Still way too much in my opinion for the work, professionalism (or lack there of) but at least not quite as obscene. He didn't even put the stuff back that he took out from under the sink, which for over 400 bucks an hour you'd think he might do. He even had a "helper." But I guess that was just too much help. Maybe I should be happy, at over 8 bucks a minute that few minutes of cleaning up could've really added up. Now I get to go upstairs and clean up the mess, fun. Maybe I got him on his bad day, I really don't know. He did root the line and the clog seems to be gone. The bath is draining. Still not quite as well as I'd like but decently. He did also mention not to use Drano on these old pipes since it is an acid, unless they have been changed. Well, did he check the pipes? Obviously not since they had been changed years ago to all copper in the house. He also didn't ask many questions. He didn't seem to care if this might be part of a larger plumbing issue or if there were other factors that might be in play. He seemed to come to root the plumbing, get paid and get out. Now mind you that I don't often give out such bad reviews. I think this is the second one star review I've ever given out. I would probably had given him two stars but his "hell no" response kind of negated that. Plus, on the receipt he did not check mark any of the boxes that guarantees his work for at least 30 days. Good to know if I have problems again tomorrow that he will expect at least another 200 bucks. In this little whirl wind of an event he did mention that he was getting "too old for this." I guess that's one thing we can both agree on. read more

Punctual, efficient, and fair. Pat, and his assistant Kevin, came to fix a (downward) leaking toilet. They lifted it out, immediately saw the issues, remedied those issues, reset the toilet's position, and secured it back in. They triple checked their work, confirmed no more leaks, left no mess, and wrapped everything up in about 30 minutes. I appreciate the direct and straight forward approach these guys have to explaining, fixing, and checking their work. The hose bibb on the exterior of my house leaked water when a hose was attached to it. I sent a video to Drain-EEZ. After some technical mishaps with emails and txts (his phone wouldn't accept videos and I was given the wrong email address a few times), Pat told me I likely had a frost free valve that needed to be replaced. He said that he would not fix any drywall to replace the valve, which I accepted. He got to my house while I was at work and my mother-in-law let him in. He confirmed over the phone it was a problem with the frost free valve and said he needed to buy parts. He told me it would be $850 and kept reiterating that he didn't know how long it would take until he opened the wall. It took about 2 hours and the parts appears to have cost less than $75 (from searching Home Depot). That is a high hourly rate. He replaced the frost free valve with a normal valve that would require an access panel, without asking me first. It is not an easy place to put a panel as it's right above the baseboard above some stairs. After raising this as an issue, he said to just put a modified HVAC panel over it, which won't even work, as the valve sticks out past the drywall. When asked about why the price was so high when he didn't run into any problems, I was told they charge by the job, not by hour/parts. Lastly, the new hose bibb that was installed is loose on the outside as it is not secured to the brick as the original one was. The new valve works, but for $850 I have a loose hose bibb, I have to add a custom/awkward access panel, and wasn't clearly told how things are billed until after the fact. The plumber with the mitigation/restoration company quoted me $750 to put a new frost free valve in and a manual valve under the stairs (Pat was made aware of the closet underneath the stairs). If you care about aesthetics and/or price, I would not recommend. read more

I definitely recommend this business. We had an annoying clogging issue with the utility sink in our basement. After trying a few things on our own, we gave up. I don't have a go-to plumber so I went on Yelp, looked for a few local plumbers with a high number of reviews and a 4.5+ star rating. I sent a detailed description and requested quotes from a few businesses and got a response back, probably within 20 minutes, with a quote that included a Yelp discount. I called for an appointment. At first, they didn't have anything soon enough, got a call back after they got a cancelation and Pat & Jeff were at the house within a day and a half. Since we have a very old house, the work ended up being more complicated than expected; however, the price didn't jump as dramatically as I was afraid of and the work still only took about an hour. Also, the pipes are better configured for the future and they explained EVERYTHING that they did and showed me the parts they replaced. I may know little about plumbing but I know my way around Google so I appreciated that they took the time to explain the work to me. The work also comes with a 90-day guarantee.
