I since had an HVAC company come out for something else and mentioned I had to change the heater recently. I told him what I paid and he said that was honestly a good price. Excalibur seemed honest and helpful and they were able to come out first thing the next morning and get my heater replaced. They did a good job and the new unit looks better installed than the original. They also gave me advice on how to maintain it and what maintenance I could do myself to descale it etc so it doesn't break again. Overall happy either way the service even though overall it was expensive it was still less than other quotes I got.

A few days ago I noticed that on one of our faucets, if I closed the hot water side too fast there was a little bit of a rattle under the house. I thought I could handle it myself after asking Perplexity what it could be and installed a water arrestor. That didn't help so I thought, maybe it could be the strapping. I reached out to Handy Plumbing Man on a Saturday and they were quick to respond that they could have someone there on Monday. Monday morning came and their technician, Miguel, went down and found that one of the pipes they had worked on wasn't totally secured. No problem, mistakes happen. He said he'd call the office to get technicians over to check the strapping on the work below. I had to go into work but did get a message from them later on that day to see if they could get someone over the same day (Monday) to fix it. This is more on me that I had already gone into work, but they said they could do tomorrow morning at 8am. (Which is great, considering that when I hunting around for other plumbing companies, I was getting quoted for less than $350, of which the plumber first had to come for a consultation, then book a separate date to actually do the work). I made an appointment with Emilio and Awesome Rooter & Plumbing a few days in advance. Emilio arrived 10 minutes early. He had shoe covers and was very prepared. I thought I was only going to get a quote, but Emilio brought along his handheld drill-based drain snake. Emilio took a look at my clogged drain for 5 minutes, suggested we use his snake.
