I manage an Airbnb and had a small plumbing disaster where 3 toilets, 2 in full bathrooms and 1 in a half bathroom, were all seemingly clogged. Big mess, lots of gross water in places it shouldn't be, and my valiant plunging efforts were doing no good at all. With guests checking into the Airbnb in a short period of time, I called F&A Plugging and Rooter with an urgent request to send a plumber to my Airbnb that very day. Not only was the lady on the phone very nice, but she understood the urgency of the situation. After quickly collecting information about the situation, she let me know that a plumber would be able to come that day, in about two hours. I was so relieved. Then, something even better happened. About 20 minutes after I booked the appointment, the plumber himself called me and asked if he could come by in 30 minutes - a full 1.5 hours ahead of schedule! I agreed, met him at the place, and he assessed the situation quickly and professionally. He diagnosed the plumbing issue, made a recommendation on how best to fix it, gave me a price, and got to work. Within another hour the problem was fixed. Firas and Steven were very knowledgeable in fixing or kitchen sink. They were on time and updated us when they were on the way. Our pipe sink was basically leaking and we hardly used our dishwasher. However, everytime we turned on the dishwasher, the water would be coming out and it would cause a flood on our countertop. They were so quick in doing the job and knew exactly what the issue was. We looked local after buying our house in South City when we wanted to upgrade our old plumbing & fixtures. Frank (F&A Plumbing) was incredibly responsive to our initial questions, helped us plan out the project, and gave us fair quotes in a timely fashion. Interesting experience. My toilet wasn't flushing and these guys made it to my house within a few hours of me calling - very quick. However, their "solution" was telling me I just need a new toilet. Maybe they thought because I'm a woman they can take advantage, or they were just inexperienced young guys. I pushed back a lot saying that seems like a last resort, dropped some technical terms to let them know I have some knowledge about plumbing, and they relented half an hour later saying well "eventually" you need a new toilet. I gave them one star because they did somewhat fix my toilet by replacing a 20$ part and charging me 236$ for the service. If your solution to a small problem is to just get a new toilet - maybe you need to rethink your approach. read more

Kitchen sink clogged with a leaking pipe just a few days before Thanksgiving--just great. Someone in the kitchen was going a little to H.AM. Thankfully Frank answered his phone, provided details and estimates, and got his guys out to the house within a couple hours. I used the Yelp project feature to reach bout to a handful of plumbers and the DMs started to come through within the first few minutes. Some quotes were pretty high and just straight up availability was rough with the holiday week. Frank's team came and fixed the leaking pipe but when we ran the water (after they left already) we noticed the sink was still clogged. Oops! After we called him, he got his guys back to the house first this in the morning and fixed it all up for no extra charge. Super appreciated they got this done quick because scheduling someone to come to the house is as difficult as scheduling someone to be home. Frank was very responsive via calling and text. I would give this company 6 stars if I could. Called them up to fix a gas issue we had with our front yard (previous owner had DIY'ed a bunch of tiki torches). Owner was very pleasant and friendly. Within 1 hour, 2 technicians (also friendly and knowledgeable) showed up at my house in Millbrae. They had to do some digging and diagnostics, and found a small gas leak. They informed me that I could shut the gas off or cut it off if there continued to be problems. Since I just chose to shut it off, they didn't even charge me even though they sent two technicians for the better part of an hour! Picture this... Preparing dinner with potatoes fondant and putting the potato skins and scraps, turning on the garbage disposal thinking everything would be fine. Only to find out about an hour or so later how horrible of an idea that was. Yep, you guessed it....and I learned it. DO NOT throw potato skins in your garbage disposal!! I was left with standing water in my sink. My Home Depot purchased non-commercial snake, drain cleaner and plunger had no effect on the blockage at all. I opted to call F&A plumbing who were able to schedule a visit within a couple of hours. I received a text notification the request was placed and then another message when the tech was scheduled to arrive. Jonathan showed up right on-time. I mean within minutes of the scheduled start time. Super friendly and sympathetic to the mess I created for myself. Jonathan took a look, gave me a price quote along with an ETA for everything to be back to normal. Within that time, my sink was fixed and my potato skins are now the City's problem (hope they have a better garbage disposal ;)). Everything was left clean and just how it had been before. Frank picked up the phone when we called this morning with water flooding onto the bathroom floor and said that he would send someone out within an hour. Anthony--a total pro--arrived within 45 minutes and snaked out the main drain line and we are back in business. Anthony showed up with a mask, was friendly and reassuring, and explained what he was going to do to deal with our problem. He then got to work and quickly powered through the clog. This isn't our first experience with F&A--they replaced our water heater when it died on 4th of July weekend four years ago, again responding very quickly. Frank's initial estimate was $6200 but after he looked at the pipe and determined that only sections of it had to be replaced he lowered his estimate by $800. He and his crew were able install the new pipe in one day, he took care of the permits and inspection from Daly City, and generally made the whole process run smoothly. We had backup issues with a toilet line that had been cleared by another company for over $800. Within a week the issue returned and the other local company's only proposal for resolution was $6,200 in pipe repairs and they said it was impossible to clear the line. We called around and found F&A. They came right out and found a less evasive way to clear line (without ripping off the toilet which the other company did twice). Within an hour the line was cleared again. They proposed if it continued they could do a pipe correction for $1,300 and one that made sense and fit the problem. We opted for that.
