If you want to deal with a super nice guy, this may be a place to consider. If you want to get your car fixed in a timely fashion or fixed at all, run for the hills. Guy is very nice but doesn't have a good understanding of cars. He only accepts cash, will make you pay up front for the parts he needs. If there is a problem let's say with the brakes and he can't figure it out......he will ask you to bring $1500 on cash so he can just replace the whole ABS system.. Had it towed from his place to a place a mile down the road and they diagnosed and fixed same day. I would not recommend this shop mainly because I took my car to the owner twice and he did not repair my car correctly the first time but charged me and absurd amount of money. The second time, he charged me a decent price but my car began to make a noise after he repaired it. He claimed that it needed another repair after saying that he finished the job. I went to this place to check what went wrong with my air conditioner. I put a new compressor a few months ago and there was a part missing because of which the air conditioner was not working. I called this place and the guy said he could fix it, so I went to this place immediately. When I went there, he said, it will take $75 to put that part and he said there is very less chance that it will work. I decided that I do not want to continue with the work because the guy acted weird and fishy. When I was about to leave the guy asked me to pay $25 which he did not ask for or tell me about when I called him or even when I went there. But I took out my card and as I was about to hand it to him, he said they do not take cards. I did not have the cash so he said I can go next door and use the ATM. I did not have my credit card pin set up which is why I told him I cannot take out the cash from the ATM and then he said he cannot release my car without $25. Luckily my mom was outside waiting for me, and she had $20 so I came inside and gave him $20 and asked for my car keys and he refused. I asked him why he did not tell me they don't accept cards the moment I entered that place. He said it is written on the piece of paper at the front desk. When I asked him to show me, he pointed out the paper where it said, "no checks". When I pointed out that it says no checks, not no credit cards, he reacted and said you are the worse. Further, he argued for the next 20 mins and wanted me to call someone to bring $5 more so that he can release my car. I had to call my brother to get the $5 so that this guy can give me my car keys back. This place is a trap, and they want to rip you off. This guy did not do any work to my car and barely spent 5 mins and he lied. I would say NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE. They are very unethical and are very unsafe because they will not release your car. So, if you are ever in a desperate situation go there, and make sure you keep your car keys with you all the time. read more

I had a hit and miss experience. I brought in my car which was misfiring. I was told the coil and spark plugs must be changed. $500. I got the car back promptly. However when I went to pay I was told I couldn't use a credit card, cash only. I didn't feel comfortable with this and was allowed to use my card but charged a "service" fee of $40 I had to pay in cash. It was never mentioned or posted cash only. So the day after I got the car back the same issue started again. I brought the car back and it was the control module. I was only charged for the part no labor $140. He told me to take the car home, drive it for the weekend and then return if everything was ok. I liked the customer service and follow up. However 2 days later my alternator goes out. Around $400. It was fixed promptly and the car is running well now. As I said, a mixed experience. read more

Warning: Never take a vehicle to this guy. To start off my terrible experience, when I first went in to talk to him, I asked if a payment with a credit card over the phone would be accepted. He told me it would be with accepted with no problems. After he called and explained it was a bad wheel barring, I regrettably gave him the permission to "fix" it. Then, a few hours later, he gave me a call and told me that the vehicle was ready. Ready to his standards? 100%. Ready to my standards? Absolutely not. Not only when I went to pay did he tell me I couldn't use a credit card over the phone, but this guy didn't fix anything on the vehicle. In fact, he did even more damage. Hearing the sounds of the car, I knew something was still wrong, so I took it to Muffler Man. I explained to them that I had been hearing noise in the front left of my vehicle and that I had just had my left wheel barring replaced. After an inspection, they called back and told me that not only was the wheel barring not on correctly, there was a hole in the axel, and grease all over the brake pads. Muffler Man not only had to fix my original problem, but they had to fix this idiot's mistakes too. Next, Muffler Man decided to call him to ask what kind of parts he used for the wheel barring (because they said it was a bad part) and this same shady guy from Drake Auto would not say where his part was from. This guy should not be in business. If you ever think about taking a vehicle here, DO NOT do it. I have no idea how this guy is even certified, and his certification should be taken away. read more

Needed a new battery immediately, and this was the only shop in town open on Sundays. He charged a premium price on the battery and an absurd 50$ to install it. I was desperate and needed the car right away and agreed. When I paid, a mysterious additional 15$ "accessories" charge was added to the hand written receipt. After being ripped off, he laughed at the idea of a student discount. Upon picking my car up suddenly he said it needed an oil change and pushed to have it done right away. I thought this was suspicious, so I went to go check the oil. He rudely gave me a tissue and said go check it yourself. He was willing to do a conventional oil change on a luxury car that only takes synthetic oil, and he wanted a ridiculous price for that too, repeatedly saying, "it is what it is." The place doesn't even look like an auto shop. There is no register or or anything official looking. There was a foot of snow leading up to the door as if he just didnt care. Just gave me a shady vibe the whole time. At least the shop is open on Sundays, and my car was ready to go when I needed it in an hour. read more

I have been going to Drake Auto since I've had my very first vehicle in 2014 and I haven't had any issues with it at all. Every time I have take my car to the shop to get something fixed, I've left satisfied! He is reasonable and understanding. Also it's a bonus that he is open on Sunday!
