Bologna sandwich is the best. It's kind of small but the food is good. We had a server who had awesome nails and eye shadow who was the best. He made us very comfortable and made sure everything was taken care of. He was quick and social. It's always best to treat your customers like a guest in your home and he surely did that. Very meh. The open air concept would nicer if they didn't try to cram as many people in as possible. If your group has less than 4 people, don't go when it's busy if you want to eat. You'll be stuck at a tiny round table with uncomfortable stools. The food is overpriced for what it is and based on the general cleanliness of the place, I ordered a sushi roll with cooked fish. It was ok but not for the money. Burger was forgettable. As for beer, we had to send the Kolsch back because it was skunky, probably not stored at the correct temperature. Not enough bartenders so the waiters had to wait too long for the drinks which threw off their timing. Waiter was good, but probably won't last long, Im guessing a place like this has high turnover. We didn't need to wait for a table, and the restaurant had a good vibe, like an upscale Chili's. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The sign at the door promoted a $5 Rum Sangria, but when my wife ordered it, our waiter looked puzzled. He took our drink orders, but then returned to tell my wife that the $5 Rum Sangria isn't available until January 1st (it was November 22nd). I wanted a craft beer, and while they did have a fairly long list of draft beer, they were mostly nationally distributed beers. Why not give some love to local microbreweries and carry their beers? The menu offered steaks, but only in combination with another protein - not what I wanted. The grilled salmon was small, overcooked way too salty, and looked lonely on the plate with no bread or rice. The burger was also overcooked. The chicken bowl and sushi roll were very good. Bottom line is that with so many other restaurants in O'Fallon and Fairview Heights, we probably won't come back to Drake's. read more

The in laws took my husband and I here last night. It was our first time eating here, and we were really looking forward to it. The food was great! I got the philly roll and spicy beef dumplings. They were delicious! The rest of my family seemed to really enjoy their food too. The bad part was the service. Apparently we came at a "shift change" and we had two different waiters...which was fine, but both of them really lacked in service part. Every time we asked for something, it was forgotten and had to track down the waiter multiple times to remind him...Drink refills, napkins, to go boxes, the check and silverware. Someone brought out my husbands steak and sushi, then asked him to make sure it was cooked appropriately...but none of us had silverware for him to do this. Nice atmosphere, they are normally packed, the fish and chips it's pretty good, there are better sushi options around, but this place is brand new, and some of the sushi places around town serve better food but they are run down . One particular night, I called in an order and they messed up the order, and then I called them back to see if I could get credit for the missing sushi roll, the guy answering the phone, forgot to put me on hold, and I could overhear him complaining To his coworker that I was cussing him out and basically giving him a hard time, which was. a complete lie, when his manager finally got on the phone, I told her that I just heard the whole conversation and that he had fabricated the entire story to a coworker. Drakes has the best Cobb salad I have ever had. When I dined at Drakes, I requested the dressing be on the side. There was no dressing. When I got it, it was very good. My husband bought me a carryout Cobb salad this evening from Drakes. There was no dressing on the side again! We live a 30 minute drive from Drakes. Needless to say, I did not eat a bare salad. I will stop by tomorrow and request my salad dressing. The kitchen needs to get it together. I am not the only person who requests dressing on the side! I've been to this restaurant numerous times on off peak times. We always had slower service but it was good and the food was good. However when we went on Monday, the service was close to nonexistent. The manager and other servers were gathering for a meeting next to our table by the fire and they didn't do anything either. We're in the business so we tried to give them plenty of time. After a half hour waiting for our ordered beer and margarita we walked out. There were 5 servers and a manager who continued meeting by the fire. They weren't busy and they had 2 bartenders. Unfortunately we had a friend with us that had never tried Drake's. We went to Drake's O'Fallon because we were looking for a place with a patio and found them on Yelp. When we got there we were told the wait would be a bit longer for a table on the patio but the server told us there was a table inside that was near the patio. We were pleasantly surprised to find that windows in this area completely opened to the outside. So we felt very comfortable. There were also plastic partitions between each of the tables which added to the Covid safety. We had several different dishes and everything was delicious. We started with the JB's boneless bites. They were so good. I ordered the fish and chips, they were amazing; be advised the serving size is enough for two people. Had we known this my husband would not have ordered and we could have shared. My daughter and son-in-law ordered off of the sushi menu and really enjoyed it. The service was top notch, our server "Dee" was very personable, and although she was also serving other tables, she continously stopped by to check on us to see If we needed anything. But, I would quickly choose a different restaurant over Drake's than wait and hour and 15 minutes to have super slow service and cold food. Our server was good, but slow, and appeared to not be focused on being at work that night. The couple sitting next to us even made a comment about it. Our drinks were good, but had to wait a while for them and for refills. The sushi was probably the best part of the meal. That came out quickly and was wonderful. Our burger and fries tasted like they had been sitting in the back fit some time. The server did bring us new fries, which was good, but the burger was dry and cold. We went on a Sat night 29 Jan 2022 and the staff was very inconsistent with their COVID policy enforcement. The hostess made some people wear mask when entering but then their were many people moving through the place without masks. In addition, we asked if we could sit by the bar and wait and we were told to wait in our car. The guests after us asked the same question and she allowed them to go to the bar.
